Also. Scotch locks don’t work. You’d be just as easy using a splice crimp with your new fancy pliers. My theory on scotch locks is that if a car presents with any problems, find the scotch locks and it’ll fix it.

When it's all working how you want it to, pop up a quick vid to the dash. Some people seem to be able to style the gauges so it would be good to see how your setup looks.

It's amazing how the car scene has evolved from using half a dozen gauges across the bonnet and up the a-pillar to these dashes. Those haltech dashes look awesome. Have a good Christmas mate.

That looks really easy plug-and-play I am electrician I don't like those connections but it's no big deal we have those type that you just stab the wire in x 3 but they all seem to fall out of those quick connections I keep telling a lot of people don't use those use old-school wire Nets on the house wiring

Superman brings back nostalgia for me my step dad was another VN owner over 2 decades ago and was the same red but calais silver dual tone duco my grandparents owned a VN White 1990 Calais from new they had it till the the VT's started rolling off the line which they then upgraded too. The Calais was kept immaculate it had driven over 250,000km a couple times round Australia not much needed to be done to it though I suppose my grandfather was pedantic with maintenance the Auto and Engine never had major work done to either nor the diff or suspension I think little things I have to ask but it ran like clockwork even hit a roo minor dent was fixed but such legendary Commodores which sadly earned a bad rep in the 2000's especially 2010's due to certain minority but for a Ford man I do appreciate all the good Holdens manufactured. and RE the Haltech Dash Auto electronics have come along way thanks to all the petrol head Electrical Engineers and Computer software developer nerds out there and admittedly I am a computer nerd myself but I admire the hard work and effort plus ingenious ideas that are now in the automotive scene... and good work Scotty for working out the wiring and setting it up on the laptop. Look forward to seeing it on the track.

Great vid, but, Scotch Locks, really! Noooooooooooooo. The IC-7 dash is the perfect choice for a Haltech ECU setup. I have installed one into my VQ 383 Stato and absolutely love it. Everything works as expected, even fuel level and speedo calibrated from the ICC software. Also, I chose the "other" dash surround which does not require any modifications to see the bottom of the LCD.

You need a new t-shirt for the Supermang, with the words 'Give me everything she' s got SCOTTY! '

Put those graphic designers to work and have them make up a Carnage/Supermang gauge overlay. The driver needs to be reminded of what vehicle they’re steering!

I found ScottyLoks are fine providing you buy 3M Scotchloks.......... and everyone should have a bag in their toolbox. Its horses for courses providing you use quality and install them on the right gauge wire, Pulled me out of the shit a few times and they last surprisingly well. Its a bit like using a shifter really.....................

Think the headlights are neg switched, which may be giving you the high beam problem. Had a hell of a time installing a light bar on my VT dunny door...

Problem with lights may be due to them being switched by the negative from what I hear. Weird setup. I had difficulties fitting my spotlight relays.

Scotty , the dash parts are all the same , all your cruise buttons and stuff that your berlina has just bolt into that dash frame so give it the chop !!! Or get a better one printed that allows you to see the whole dash

I gotta admit i'll only use scotch locks as a temp fix or it's in a utter prick of a spot to get to without major or complete disasembly of the dash etc... Or i literally give zero fucks about what they are fitted to 😆 And in a pinch they work well 😉

Wow that’s a pretty high intake temp But you need a fix not just a warning system. May I suggest installing a big plazmaman water to air intercooler, & a rear mounted turbo to push air through it

You're not wrong about wiring being a pet hate. I've got a 96 Benz and it's gauge cluster has 2 connectors and I don't know why or where they come from or go to. I'm terrified of electronics. Good luck with the race.. cheers🥂

Can you not put the high beam through relay to switch polarity? What do you do ref battery lamp to excite alternator?

Scotch locks or "vampire taps" are totally fine for low current signal circuits inside of a vehicle where they wont be exposed to rain, salt, etc. Where people go wrong is trying to use them in high current applications like auxiliary lights, trailer harnesses and in places where they will get wet.

Scotty mate need to have a real good air intake cooling set up, interchiller, that way no matter how hot it is outside she will run real cool, also trans temp , oil temp, any other temp you need to keep a eye on, keep up the great work buddy. :)

Lol I can tell you the Germans are the first to crap own their own gear and rightfully so. Since you gotta use the gear the company provides, you're stuck. Having options when it comes to tools is a huge bonus in Australia.
