calling a cruise ship a ''tub'' is just a little bit missleading considering all the engineering and studying behind every single cm of a ship. Perhaps they've now learned a lesson and will add fire control units there too

@@U.N-p8g , apparently, they were absent from class on the day they were teaching fire suppression systems & techniques of tall burning structures aboard ship. In case you are wondering what public enemy number one aboard ship is, you're looking at it. Which is why every Navy boot is taught to fight fires, knows how to swim & tread water. Edit: Firefighting training continues after boot camp, sending every sailor to firefighting school, plus repair locker training aboard their own ship that includes how to don & use OBAs (now replaced with the same type of breathing apparatus civilian firefighters use today) & EEBD*s. Repair locker teams include an investigator, an electrician, access man, 3-man fire hose team (feeder, lift, nozzle), and repair locker officer. An aircraft carrier has SEVEN repair locker teams strategically scattered throughout the ship, plus a full-time firefighting team. Repair locker manning is a collateral duty of sailors, manned during general quarters and scheduled routine training. *An EEBD (Emergency Exit Breathing Device) is basically an oxygen enriched hood, once activated, has an effective life span of fifteen minutes, giving you time to exit the fire & toxic smoke of a burning space(s). All birthing spaces have an adequate supply of these EEBDs, usually stowed under the middle racks (which is why I would not want the bottom rack; making the bottom rack even more cramped). Note: racks are "coffin lockers" with a mattress on top of it. The bottom rack actually sits on the deck. You can lay down on the deck next to the bottom rack & roll yourself into the bottom rack. (Rack-n-roll 🤭) Great, if you come back drunk from liberty. Your shipmate can just roll you into bed.

One thing I noticed them doing is spraying the surrounding area with water, they know that their hoses aren’t gonna put out the fire, but if they can isolate it, it will burn itself out.

Oversight there....saved $$$$ on fire hoses. Flashback to the Titanic & lifeboats.

I once went on Carnival magic and they pulled into port with less then 3 hours to get the next group of people in. They have no time to clean the whole thing and they never shutdown the engine.

@@kellynkarr set buildup in the finals of a ship or in a chimney or anyting else that has an open flame or uses internal combustion has to be clean frequently because it becomes very combustible and that's why the stacks on that carnival ship caught on fire they've been neglecting maintenance on anything that the guests cannot see

Nobody can prepare for a smoke stack catching on fire and that high up. This is the first time ever seeing a fire like this and I'm in my 40s. Sometimes wild sht happens.

@@ekl7804 no, you aren't getting it. This isn't some interior fire. This is specialized equipment/specialized skill fire. To be prepared for such a massive and highly improbable event, you'd need actual firefighters stationed on every ship. That's just impractical. By your logic, you'd be the asking for a police force stationed on every cruise ship after seeing that 60 person brawl that happened a few days ago. It's just impractical and an overkill.

Ya Carnival is garbage, they cater to a young drunk/party crowd and their ships have way more wear and tear because of it. Also many many incidents over the years including the "poop cruise from hell" 😅

@@mikeyirish214 carnival is definitly not the best but it aint that bad ive been on 14 carnival cruises and they have all been enjoyable, like lucas said they do have more ships than most 91 as of now to be exact so these things would happen more often than other cruise lines

As a person who went on the carnival freedom as my first cruise in 2016 somewhere along there I was 4 or 5. So in 2022 it might have went out of Galveston Texas and so that means it might have been the 2nd-4th day for them or it was on their way back. And carnival confirmed all passengers are safe.

I was on freedom when the fire broke out. Grateful that Conquest picked us up.

Normally the cruise wants the cabins empty by 8:30 but this time they had us all off the ship by 8:30. I didn't find out about the Freedom until later..

Sure this is a cruise and relaxation is to be somewhat expected, but the price point and reputation of Carnival leads me to believe that such people are likely to be the type I mentioned before, who will dress like that regardless of setting.

That funnel must have a fire inhibit/ extinguishing system, that probably didn't work. The most surprising thing is that the fairing is melting and burning like it was something like composite/ plastic material. I wonder who in the right mind, would use such materials for funnel fairings...

If you are watching the video produced by a cameraman, then the chances are he has not died as he has transported the video from the location and published it. So by very definition, the cameraman does not die, which makes the statement "the cameraman never dies" completely stupid. The cameraman that dies, doesn't return with the video and does not release that video, which is why you don't get to see it. But that cameraman is still dead. So the cameraman does die, but you don't see his video.

Question 4: do you know that the fire could basically just spread through all decks, when the funnel is on fire? Question 5: how ignorant are some people?

There's another cruise ship video where they end it saying 25 cruise passengers a year end up overboard, with 90% dying (probably usually a horrible death treading water for 2 or 3 days before they become too worn out to do it anymore and have to breathe water.) What the hell is going on aboard these junkers that this happens??

This was a rare occurrence, and they were still at the dock while this happened i believe, so everyone was probably fine, and for you not to experience any of those at that age is actually quite sad
