Australia is famed for its marsupials, more than 60 species of which are carnivorous. From the Tasmanian devil to the northern quoll, these pint-sized predators can be found in habitats right across the country. ↠Subscribe: www.youtube.co...
Yet despite being able to take down animals their own size, many of these unique species are under threat. Large predators, habitat loss, disease and even their own reproductive urges can have serious consequences for endangered populations. Join us as we explore the secret lives of four of Australia’s most unusual inhabitants.

One might a posit that the semelparity die-off of the quoll, is related to their not being in the fast lane of evolution; i.e. being safe from the exceptionally competitive mammalian class while immured in Australia. Also, I live in Western Australia. It's definitely a further sprinkle of fascinating when an exposé centres on your own backyard.
@eljanrimsa5843
@eljanrimsa5843 3 года назад
That sounds dubious to me. Isn't semelparity the fastest lane possible in evolution, producing the most offspring and maximizing genetic recombination?

imagine if youtube's algorithm knew how to read these comments... every one of TM's vids are full of "why aren't you getting more views" comments. it's definitely got to do with their video lengths i think. the algorithm seems to prefer 10-20min long vids for cold recommends. animalogic videos are around that length and get tons more views.

with australias land size and its low human density/size when i hear we have made things endangered in australia it amplifys how bad we humans actually r towards nature to me because with australias size we shouldnt have made anything endangered if we cared about nature and ourselves
@alveolate
@alveolate 3 года назад
well, introduced species are a much more difficult problem than things like pollution or deforestation. harmful human activities can at least be curbed through laws and good enforcement; it will take a LOT more effort to root out invasive species like cane toads or feral cats. and these were problems introduced centuries ago by clueless european explorers...
@eljanrimsa5843
