My favourite scene from the movie, no need for words, the music and the violins start to build up the tension as she is looking for Carol, because its a risky decision to make in the 50's to be together but then she finds her, and they look at each other and the music starts to sound more happy and peaceful like it was the right decision in the end.
this film is epic...and maybe the best film I have ever seen on so many levels...every single second...there r no accidents...I could talk and analyse this masterpeace all day long...still in 2020 ;-)...of course non of the judges of "the acadamy" would ever be able to realise that!...you have to be much more intelligent therefore...
@@reinadeuxmal9002 yo queria q le respondiera a carol q tambien ella la amaba (no lo dijo porq la interrumpieron) pero el hecho de aparecer ahi lo decia todo q therese también ama a carol ufff me encanta esta pelicula
“It would be Carol, in a thousand cities, a thousand houses, in foreign lands where they would go together, in heaven and in hell.” -Patricia Highsmith, The Price of Salt (this is what Therese said to herself as she walked towards Carol)
This movie is so well done. I've seen it probably 10 times at this point and I still notice new things when I watch. Like how in this scene, nearly everyone in the room is men. the few women walk by with a male companion. Therese walks through this sea of men separating her eyes from Carol's and then finally there is that moment of arrival, when it is as if the two of them are the only people in the room. It goes back to these other scenes where the men can't really enter their private little world.
I've watched it about six times. What I noticed on my last watch was that Richard with another woman was at the house party that Therese goes to before this scene. He gives her a cold look suggesting he can't forgive her for going off with Carol.
Every detail in this scene is so accurate and so well done it freaks me out. The way the camera starts shaking as the girls walks towards Carol showing her deepest feelings. The love represented by the red lights on each table and people walking in front of the camera like barriers to her approach. Blanchett finally offers an enigmatic expression that shows so many thoughts that only this art form could express.
I think the fact I wasn't expecting a happy ending (the trailer cleverly seemed to play up it'd be a sad/bittersweet film as well) made this ending even more wonderful
Beautifully subtle. One of the best scenes in film without dialog, in my opinion. And oh Cate, that last expression - smirk, smile (does it have a name?). How does one encapsulate the depth of feeling using so few facial muscles. Outstanding.
Bheverly Mabeza Somehow i personally would love a sequel to see all of this, but a part of me tells me that this ending is all i ever needed to happen when watching the movie. Such a beautiful ending that makes pretty much everyone get emotional and happy for these beautiful ladies.
epic ending!!! She should have won the Oscar for best actress in Carol!!! She's stunning, gorgeous, erotic & amazing to watch her in action. Her elegant beauty and seductive voicetone on & off the set of Carol sent chills up and down my spine!!! Amazing and stunning!!! My angel, flung from space... hmmmmmmm!!!
I completely agree but I'd like to think that sometimes accolades put a ground to something that makes it so grounded, so finite. Carol is an infinite art whose essence perhaps even accolades don't have to or would not be able to justify. I appease myself by thinking of it that way.
I’d rather she won for Carol than the histrionic and over the top blue jasmine, but the academy doesn’t reward subtle performances and prefers the melodramatic ones.
This movie is brilliant, with an unforgettable ending scene. Haynes, Blanchett and Mara are extraordinary (kudos also to Paulson and Chandler). The best movie of 2015, by far.
What a great movie. Kate Blanchett....The most sensuous woman in the world. Such a sweet love story. Those 2 guys in both their lives were left in the dust. Most men could not compete with that kind of real love between two beautiful women.
You can tell that they really love each other. I also love that detail at the end, where Carol is seen being tired of talking to the people around her, but gives Therese a very warm, genuine smile when she sees her.
I would love it, but I think it would ruin the magic and completeness of Carol. Idk there's something so moving about the fact it just ends with the hints of a beginning that you never get to see.
The Academy needs a new category .. "best final scenes by Blanchette" .. this one and Blue Jasmine is pure cinema at its best .. and Rooney is near Liz Taylor perfection to look at and feel as you can get today
The camera loves Rooney's face, so much emotion in her look, this scene vaguely reminds me of the ending of GWTDT. And speaking of Lisbeth Salander, such a shock that she could surprise the audience with a so much more solid role like this. Hope she will earn the Oscar one day.
Crikey haven't seen movie yet just a few years late lol I'm slack but boy lovely scenes n story seems lovely as well. Talented Actors to say least and Director etc got a lot to look forward too :)
belong cute. Enjoy Enjoy!!🤗 I won't dare tell how many times I've watched it😄😄😄 Cate is such a seasoned actress, she's awesome! In this end scene she was not looking at Rooney..she was looking directly into the camera. Rooney was looking at her though. I sooooo love both of these stunning women, they're a rare talent.
I was really scared that she was going to chicken out in this scene and go away, or that she will not find carol and lose hope. I'm really happy and satisfied with the ending, love them both.
For some reason I love May/December Romances. This one, Sophie/Paula Coronation Street (A UK Soap Opera), Grace/Esther, Grace/Kim Hollyoaks although they broke up. Carol was so good for Therese, in the Book she was straight a Gangsta, calling it like she saw it but she showed Therese she could be what she wanted to be in life if she wanted it enough.
