Yes. Abby was so compassionate and supportive of both Carol & Therese and even though she could have fought to have Carol back in her life, she loved her enough to see her happiness even though it meant sacrificing her own. Did you ever read the Book?

There are some beautiful moments between Abby and Carol, when they link arms coming down the stairs for example and in some way, their connection seems more assured and real than that of Carol and Therese.
It was because they were each other's "Firsts" where Carol was Therese's "First". As for The Linking Coming Down The Stairs, I thought it was Carol and Therese. I first heard about The Price Of Salt in this Fantastic Canadian Documentary called "Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories Of Lesbian Lives" that Ann Bannon another Lesbian Writer talked about. Patricia Highsmith's Then Girlfriend Marijane Meaker wrote Spring Fire under the name of Vin Packer then she wrote Two Bestsllers for Young People called Gentlehands and Deliver Us From Evie. What I love about Patricia Highsmith's Books is that she gives such detailed information about the Character in the beginning most notably where the Characters Lived. Tom Ripley's Moving around and Therese Belivet's Room are prime examples.

Fue un poco mi historia en el año 1964 que estábamos más o menos en la misma situación como en los 50. Duro 4 años y nunca la pude olvidar.
