Presenter and author Carol Vorderman has called on the prime minister to apologise over cutting winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners.
She told Sky's Sophy Ridge she is "shocked" by the government's decision, saying they could "raise that money in so many other ways."
The broadcaster, famed for her stint on Channel 4 gameshow Countdown, has become more vocal about her politics in recent years. Despite receiving negative comments on social media about speaking up on these issues, she says "the more people try to abuse me, the stronger I feel."

OK, she made a mistake, we all make mistakes. She was a bit slow in catching on that Labour has changed from the relatively benign party of Jim Callaghan and Harold Wilson to the out of control monster it has become today. We live and learn. Starmer will certainly not apologise, he is drunk with power because of his 170 seat majority.

Carol Vorderman should realise that saying sorry won't keep the elderly warm, won't save many from dying. Many pensioners have a low income and small amount of savings because they made many sacrifices, no smoing, no drinking, no holidays, to purchase their own home which will now be taken to pay care fees.

It's not Carol Vorderman should get back in her box, she,s a consummate professional, my issue is a lot of elite personalities often wealthy or very, don't compute what it sounds like to hear them say well I am well off to pay for heating, or I don't need my pension, or a bus pass etc, humility is a a special skill not possessed by all.

it’s disgusting that our pensioners, who have contributed the most to our society, no matter their financial status, are having this payment taken away by labour while the government openly advertises on their website that anyone who crosses the channel illegally will be entitled to free accommodation and given £200 per month per person in their family.
