One thing I love about this show is they made a tribute to Phantom Regiment (the hornline walking over the rifle line), Cadet's Simple Gifts and Z-pull, and Cavalier's drill movements (not sure if I missed out on anything) Definitely recommending Madison Scouts 2013 since it's a military themed program 👀

In an era of drum corps where there was little prop use and electronics to convey the show, This show was amazing from start to finish. I marched Spirit in 08 and to hear their hornline in the lot while being a rookie member of DCI was amazing and inspiring. The first hit and high toes halftime marching is one of my favorite moments in DCI history.

The closer you are to the last performance, the better because the higher scoring corps get the last slots of the night at these shows. Also, staff changes all the time in drum corps but staff members have usually been in the activity for a quite a while. But there are always younger staff members too who have maybe just aged out of a corps and want to move into the visual, brass, percussion, guard staff, etc. and it’s their choice of how long they want to stay. Btw this show is called Finis and they finished 4th place.

Staff changes but not too often. The top 6 corps seem to have their staff in place for 5+ years, some more. The corps adopt a style to their teaching and they stick to tradition if it's working and getting good scores. Crown's brass staff has been consistent a long time and its why their hornline is so good. Hundreds gather in the parking lot just to hear them warm up, it's just as impressive as the show on the field.

Carolina Crown's 4th place show, "Finis" (Latin for "the end"), was comprised solely of endings of great pieces of music-lots and lots of endings. It was kind of like reading just the last pages of lots of great books. A delicate balance of humor and sophistication made this show one chock full of hummable moments. The production opened with Leonard Bernstein's "Overture to Candide," or at least, the ending of it. The operetta was based on the writings of Voltaire, which, surprising to today's fans, was quite a bust after its Broadway opening in 1956. Somehow, this piece segued right into a lesser-known bit of J.S. Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor," originally written for organ, which then moved into Gioachino Rossini's overture from the 1816 comic opera, "The Barber of Seville." If you're still following along, the Rossini moved right into Ludwig van Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" ("Ode to Joy"), premiered in 1824 by the time the composer had become profoundly deaf and regarded by many musicologists and other music lovers as the greatest piece of music ever written. This work blended into the "Wedding March" from Felix Mendelsohn's 1826 concert overture to "A Midsummer Night's Dream," based on a Shakespeare play and written when the composer was only 17 years old. And somehow all that concluded with a classicized rendition of the call and response, "Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits." If you've seen this show, no explanation of how this all fits together is needed. If you haven't seen it, none is really possible.

It's more fun to be closer to the end, especially if your good because then you can actually get a feel for how your doing that season. I've always liked going Closer to the end maybe like third or fourth from the last.

I am just now getting a chance to see yet another phenomenal reaction! Carolina crown had a good show In 2007 but I would definitely called this year 2008 their break out year and as you know they have been near the top every year since then consistently either first or Second and brass and with the colorguard staff that was there from 2008 to 2016 they won best colorguard almost every year. I believe you have reacted to three shows from 2008 now which was phantom regiment Spartacus The Cavaliers Samurai and now Carolina crown Finis! I don’t know if it’s obvious to anyone outside of the activity or outside of the state of Indiana but the world championships were supposed to be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in 2008 however the stadium was not completed in time so they had to move finals to Indiana University in Bloomington which is my alma mater… This is the last year the finals was held in an outdoor stadium and it was incredible year for drum corps. It looks like everyone else has answered the questions that you had and I agree with everything. It is not typical for an entire staff to change but certain parts of a staff do typically change And move to another core together with the two largest staff changes that I can recall being thCavaliers visual staff oh leaving to move to the West Coast with Santa Clara Vanguard While at the same time the colorguard staff went to Carolina crown and then after 2016 the colorguard staff and I believe visual staff left Carolina crown and went to the Boston Crusaders. I am pretty sure that the blue Devils have had the same core staff since the 90s of course adding younger staff as they would age out. The BlueCoats staff has been together for quite a while as well. I’m sure you can see the pattern that The Corps With the staff that stays together usually ends up near the top for the reasons everyone else already explained. As to the performance order, which is a great question by the way, do you want to perform near the end because as the season progresses the show starts with the lowest seeded corp and ends with decor averaging the highest score and once you make it to finals week the goal is to make strides from Quarterfinals to semi finals to finals trying to jump over anyone who performs after you. Finally I can’t think of any shows that have the judge continuously running but I will definitely try to find one with some funny judge moments as there are many times where the judges have had to haul ass because I got caught in the wrong place before a very rapid transition😂😂 until tomorrow👍

The closer to 2008 cadets is arguably one of the hardest drill moves of all time. But after you watch it once you HAVE to lock in on the percussion judge bc bitch he was SPRINTING
