Jesus. That's all I can say. Just... Phenomenal. I have so glad Bloo finally won a World Title... But Crown still and will always have the best hornline, in my opinion. Just incredible.
I've always enjoyed the clarity of their sound and the quality of their blending. The mellophones simultaneously sound like the trumpets and the baritones. The baritones simultaneously sound like the mellophones and the contras. The contras don't just sound like a muddy subwoofer; their characteristic sound deliberately matches the rest of the brass section.
I agree, I never go watch warm ups because I usually want to see the shows, but I love these warm up youtube videos. I could listen to Crown play all day.
Kelly Young the scores were really close tho towards the end. They ended up taking three captions. Still tho bloo deserved the win and was the favorite. But you gotta admit tho Top 3 shows were amazing
The power those mellos play with to be able to cut through the rest of the hornline so clearly with that melody at the big opening hit is out of this world!
The reason why Crown wins so many Otts is because their mellos can our blow a lot of corps entire hornlines. People complain that Crown has no screamers, but it ain’t the screamers that win Otts. It’s the mello section. If your mellos suck, so does the rest of your brass.
The mello is almost a magical horn......it can play with the baritones and blend in perfectly, or it can scream so loudly that it shames the sopranos. The mello is such a free horn, it is almost like it should be illegal, but it exists, and it adds magic wherever it is played.
I know a lot of corps incorporate drill moves into their warm ups but they seem to have put more in I think it helped with their on the field performance a lot I bet more groups will start doing that! Great show this year😀
I was sitting acrossed the room. And when they broke into their intro to the 'OTL' "Relentless'......I got Chills. One of my Favorite shows of that season. F'REAL. HOOAH!!!!!
the lights are all programmed that way. the ones on the sides look like that because the wall dividers are up. Actually a very brilliant design so that the light in that section is as even as possible.
Ok so Bloo’s show that year was groundbreaking, but Relentless should have won Crown their 2nd championship. That was a very cohesive show from beginning to end and their brass that year was absolutely on fire.
Todd Xu yeah they did, but moreover the finals was a clean run. BD played spoiler because I think if it came down to Bloo and Crown, Crown would have taken it.
Well ive got a link for you, its from inside the circle but im not too sure what the source is but here it is: instagram.com/p/Boe8Ojpl303/?igshid=uq6nbfc7rsc1
John bixler they were insanely good in 2016. My dad judged them at a few shows and he said they were the best he's ever heard. He's been around the activity since the 70s and went to julliard so that kind of high praise doesn't come easy lol. The quality of instruments and leaving the g bugle behind have really changed the game.
