I'm so glad for these stripped down versions... Caroline's voice was always at the centre of each track from Pang but in this setting you can appreciate her unique voice even more! Thanks :)
man, I thought the KEXP one was amazing ( sorry KEXP, I love your work I swear ) but this room, this mic, this piano ... the big diaphragm maybe, but god, her voice sounds stunning here. Also, +1 on the pre-chorus to this song being just absolutely phenomenal ... it's just a fantastically written song.
someone at google/youtube must have had their heart crushed by Caroline or something - type in her name and nothing comes up unless you type in her whole name. Hell, my name auto-completes and I don't have a hit song/video with nearly 4 million views. They're holding her back
neta da bcharts q vcs n conseguiram queimar I suck at explaining stuff like this you may want to just RU-vid a 4:3 polyrhythm but in music a lot of sounds happens on these constant beats in measures, and usually these measures are divided into 4 beats, with a polyrhythm there is both a 3 beat rhythm and a 4 beat rhythm happening at the same time but going at the right speed so that the first beat of both rhythms occur at the same time creating a polyrhythm
@@burdman707 yea good explanation! i would have just copy pasted from wikipedia. You can hear the polyrhythm when she sings the chorus because as the lyric "to another door" repeats it lands on different accents with the piano! like, the piano is going 1,2,3,4 and the word "door" lands just before the 1, then just before the 3, then just before the 2... i believe!??? anyway, without counting accurately what you can hear is that the words repeat at a different rate than the piano does.
omg yes! i always thought caroline's vocals and the effects she does with her voice reminded me of meredith monk, but i can totally hear that in the rhythmic patterns as well!
Back in the city I'm just another girl in a sweater Perpetual novice Signature on a check made out to you Took ten laps 'round the planet To prove what I wasn't And the door slams hard behind you When you leave the house of judgment Been waiting for regret to hit me Some kind of reckoning I waited for the drop, 'cause lately The yang comes with yin Back in the city I'm just another girl in a sweater Perpetual novice Signature on a check made out to you Now there's the sunset Salt in the wound, yeah Sometimes I don't know who I'm singing to Who is the you who I sing to When the house is empty? You open the door To another door, to another door To another door, to another door And I'm running through to you You open the door To another door, to another door To another door, to another door And I'm running through to you And we're waking up sore and dizzy From a ten year concussion And the rainfall makes you miss me Even though you say it doesn't Back in the city I'm just another girl in a sweater Back in the city Everything's different when we're not together You open the door To another door, to another door To another door, to another door And I'm running through to you You open the door To another door, to another door To another door, to another door And I'm running through to you Running, running, running, running, running Running, running, running, running, running Back in the city I'm just another girl in a sweater Perpetual novice Signature on a check made out to you Now there's the sunset Salt in the wound, yeah Sometimes I don't know who I'm singing to Who is the you who I sing to When the house is empty?
