Nah she was right tho elena made the wrong choice and then declared caroline couldn’t make the same choice I know it’s cause she cares but if it was me and my mother just died all of it would just sound like condescending bs cause caroline is much more controlled then elena
See that's why I support Elena on this. When your friend is making the same mistake that you made (which caused you to lost something or someone) they'll stop you and Elena tried to do just that. But people just hate her without trying to see that she's not a horrible person
Bruh Caroline was fine and just wanted to be left alone. She truly wasn’t doing anything bad when she turned it off but they kept trying to force her to and she retaliated. They should have left her alone and none of that stuff would have happened. She most likely would have had her letter.
@@wxndagranger9734 if I remember correctly it been a while didn’t elena bite the opposite member of the cheer team they were competing against and then their was that whole pretending to be Katherine thing also I almost forgot when she first turned it off she pulled a Damon and attack a couple in the car and another girl who she saw Jeremy make out with after that’s what she was mad at him and a lot of others while Caroline just went off to sing she didn’t start to get physical and eat people until they wouldn’t just leave her alone for a while Edit: Also Elena killed Matt that made her turn her humanity on but everything was ok because that was the plan the entire time and they had him wear the ring
@@Lucky_72 Damon killed Matt, not Elena. And, she did feed on people, but the only person she killed, was the waitress; AFTER she told Stefan and Damon to leave her alone… And the reason she pretended to be Katherine, was to get information out of Elijah: (whom she didn’t know was EM, in Katherine’s phone) Had Damon not lied to her about why he wanted to take her to NYC, she never would’ve pretended to be “Kitty Kat” Soo… If everyone would’ve left Elena alone like she asked, a lot of what happened wouldn’t have. Damon stopped her from killing the Woman that tried to “help her” when she was laying in the road- it wasn’t a couple: And, she did feed on the cheerleader, because she wanted her blue ribbon. Elena started to attack her own Friends: she tried to kill Caroline & Bonnie- She was mad Rebeka wasn’t prom Queen, and Bonnie was: and Caroline went after her, because Elena hurt her Mom, when she pushed her. That’s why Damon & Stefan wanted her to flip her switch back to on: and if not for Katherine, she might’ve gotten worse. Katherine is the one that let her out of the cell- which led her to finding Matt, and feeding on him. She tried calling Damon’s bluff when he said he’d kill Matt if she didn’t flip her switch; and he did: but everyone except Elena remembered he was wearing the ring.
TBH tho they should have just left Caroline alone. She had the BEST control out of all of the vamps and wasn’t doing anything bad until they interfered. She literally told them she would behave and not hurt anyone if they just left her alone for a year and she was sticking to that promise right up until they didn’t hold up their end of the bargain. She’s the only one who ever turned off their humanity that didn’t just start killing or attacking people left and right for fun.
What she did to Sara, that was because nobody left her some like she asked, however- it was only after she forced Stefan to flip his switch, that things got really bad… He forced her to drop all control: He kept messing with her head, over and over and over, until she really snapped: so it was his fault all those people died, because she didn’t kill anyone up until he made her crazy. Sara was always going to be saved, and Caroline knew that; and Sara never died due to Caroline. So Stefan is the one to blame for all the people she killed.
You know what I hated the fact that Caroline actually had everything under control she was drinking from blood bags working on her audition she was doing fine all she asked was to be left alone for a year and they couldn’t do that they just had to keep pushing her because they couldn’t accept the fact that Caroline had more control over herself than they ever did they should have just left her alone
Honestly Caroline is one of the best characters ever. In the beginning she was deemed a shallow girl who was obsessed with boys but she went through a lot and her charter arc is the best of all. (Elena on the other hand……)
@@maggieshy8704 Thank you so many people seem to forget that little fact. Elena also said that maybe they should just leave Caroline to it as she seemed to be able to control herself still without her humanity. Stephan was the one that pushed Caroline over the edge when he tried to get her to switch it back on.
@@yomnaislam948 we do get that, but i think the comment was saying when caroline turned off her humanity she called out elena a lot. eg :”i compelled liam to kill stefans niece and you find a way to make it about you? you trying have a gift elena.”
Caroline was so sweet.....she was mean when she was a human but she became a sweetheart after becoming a vampire . I felt really bad for her when she turned off her humanity and then burnt her mother's letter....so sad .
Its not a sire bond its just Elenas feelings for Damon are heightened because shes a vampire now do u not remember?? When a person gets turned all there emotions are heightened to like 100%
I hate it when ppl say Elena turned her humanity of when it was actually Damon who used the sire bond so Elena didn’t even get a choice, Caroline was literally there when it happened as well
The sire bond between elena and damon isnt real!! Only hybrids can have a sire bond the witch lady said too.. Since elena had feelings for damon before she got turned they became stronger ever since she became a vamp
@@silllyygooose your the fucking dumbass for not believing the sire bond is real it literally happened to Damon like a century before and Elena killed somebody because Damon told her to and she couldn’t drink blood until Damon said it was ok so the sire bond is very much real
Okayyy, to answer a lot of people's weird ideas that Elena was trying to make this about herself. She was just giving Caroline a real example. A smart person learns from other people's mistakes as well. In the end, Caroline regretted it.
1. It's not like Elena chose to turn off her humanity. 2. She's not trying to make the situation about her, she warns Caroline using her experience. She knows it's not a good solution and she tries to help her friend by doing that.
@@plutotrio9457 true, Caroline's reaction is normal considering the pain she was in, but people acts like Elena did something bad. And yes, Elena had flaws and could be a little narcissist sometimes but she was also quite selfless, even tho people won't admit it.
@@Apoorva1009 idk... If you "study" her character, she's clearly not a bad person. I think people blame her because she gets most of the attention and a lot of characters died for her, but they forget she's the main character and she never asked for any of this. She had flaws but she was actually quite selfless and really caring. I don't get the hate either. I think a part of the haters just jumped on the hate train without really thinking about it.
Funny how none of the Mickelson's turned off their humanity. NEVER . Not when Celeste died (Elijah). Not even when Hayley died. Not when Klaus couldn't be with Hope. Not when Davina was killed. Neither Marcel nor Kol turned theirs off. Why is so hard for everyone else to deal with pain😂
@@iliks4905 exactly, and they went through much they had already felt it all The switch wasn't real real, it just numbed stuff but it was all still there they still felt things- it didn't actually exist
@@erenyeager9618 it’s about the original Mikaelson family. If we’re considering ALL of them, Hayley turned it of too (Don’t know if it was ever confirmed tho)
That we know of. The Originals and TVD focused mostly on present day. Yes, there were flashbacks for every character and we never saw the Mikaelsons turn it off, but who’s to say they never did?
Uhh they should've just left her alone (or call Klaus, that would be fun) literally everyone in the show turned their humanity off when they felt too much pain, Caroline lost both of her parents, she literally had no one left, and they couldn't just gave her some time and let her cope with her loss, she wasn't doing anything bad, she promised she won't hurt anyone, she just needed time, I think Caroline was the one who understand what turning feelings off really means, it mean you don't feel paint, not that you have to go and kill everything you see... And her so called "friends" obviously don't care about her at all (or they are just stupid.... maybe both) even though they understand how much pain she feels I think no-humanity Caroline should've just run away with Klaus, that would be perfect..
I remembered losing my dad a few years back and idk why but I always related to Caroline especially in this scene. Problem is there is no escaping the worst part of the pain. Just have to feel it until one day it doesn't hurt so bad.
My question is why the hell did they give her, her mothers letter when she didn’t have her humanity, they could have waited and she wouldn’t have burnt the only thing she had of her mother left. Also couldn’t those idiots had at least made a copy as a fail safe, I would have since she was trying to avoid emotion I would assume she would rip it.
It's going to be hard, I used to watch it back in the days. It's a very articulated plot, I got lost around season 5, it was getting too crazy. You're better off trying to read wikipedia's summary of every season. Though you could still try to give it a go, I guess.
No matter how much it hurts, but because it hurts you know that it was all real. The ones we we lose do not deserve to be forgotton like this. And the end no matter how much it hurts, it gets better with time, the pain doesn't go away but you learn to embrace it and live with it. Saying this from personal experience.
Everyone keeps saying that Elena didn’t turn her humanity by choice. I get that, but y’all are forgetting that she literally asked Alaric to erase her memories of her relationship with Damon cuz she couldn’t handle the pain. 😑 hypocrites
Yeah but that bit her in the ass hella hard so she literally watched two cautionary tails unfold. She’s even seen Stefan with his humanity off. Literally nothing good ever comes of it so why she would want to do it seems kind of dumb.
That's right. But that was probably the only time when Elena made that kind of HUGE mistake by herself.People always blame her for that, but they should understand her.Her boyfriend was dead, her friends were spilted, her best friend (Bonnie) was dead. And she was carrying so much pain so she decided to erase some. And she regreted for that very much. And now she is trying to help her friend who is in the same situation. Sorry if they are grammatic mistakes, i'm not American
She just wanted a year. She said that over and over she just wanted time. Like if they would have giving her that she would have been okay. She deserved so much more
Before the Elena haters (and for some reason Damon lovers) start coming for my girl, just go back and watch EXACTLY how Elena turned off her humanity and before you come back and comment. Let’s go see the “choice” she made.
Y'all hate Elena so much that u guys don't even see that Elena was actually being a good friend here she didn't want Caroline to go through what she went!
The hypocrisy & double standards that show up as a result of undoubtedly-inherently-misogynistic-and-sexist-driven blind hate for the stereotypically feminine female lead are absolutely disgusting and infuriating.
Caroline Miranda 👍 👍 you saw what happened to me that is my appointment Miranda 👍 you turn that off when your brother had died. You aren't thinking you're the only one make a big mistake that I made but you came out the other end worst pain is gone that's what I need I need that all to be gone that you raise all of your memories vampire 🦇🖤🖤🖤 that you turn that off words of pain is gone that is what I need that to be gone 👍👍 good. ❤❤💯 ❤❤❤
Everyone ignored Bonnie and Caroline's pain and everyone only always focused on Elena, she was the worst friend ever, at least Katherine was an honest bitch and she owned it but Elena was the Miss perfect who just wanted attention
Caroline had her full control Stefan can't even leave her like that Please she lost her mom , let her live without pain but no , elena even said she has control let's leave her but no he was like She asked me do I love her and I didn't tell her the truth so let me just make her suffer the pain of her mom's death I love stefan so much but he shouldn't have interfered and should've left her alone
Caroline said the Elena turnd it of too only for her brother but she lost everything hole her family and Caroline only her parents and Stefan and Elena turnd it of bc of Damon and the bloodband she couldn’t do anything about it and everyone is angry at her about that
Thank you! Caroline is being extremely short-sighted & self-involved for someone who knows Elena lost 5 parental figures-FIVE-in 18 months and should have understood that losing Jeremy was more to Elena than just losing her brother, it was losing the last of her family & the only reason she even completed the transition to being a vampire in the first place. Caroline never really looses her shallowness; she never really thinks through all the implications of something until it threatens to hurt her personally. As far as we know, Caroline still has her mother’s 2 sisters somewhere, she still has blood family left but Caroline just doesn’t care about them, doesn’t care that Elena understands not only the pain of orphan-hood but knows what it’s like to lose the last of your blood family & her warnings are far from vain, rather they’re entirely valid. Especially when you stood by as Elena what stripped of her humanity by force instead of by choice then when you couldn’t deal with the consequences of Humanity Free Elena you actively participated in the torture that was the restoration of her Humanity (the infliction of extra suffering) because you wanted her to be your sweet, fluffy plaything that never fights back instead of the complete person who dares to turn your own attitude back on you. Caroline is absolutely being a rewriter of history so as to intentionally manipulate Elena. Honestly, imo, early HF Caroline & ordinary vampire Caroline are so similar because Caroline seems to have barely any emotional intelligence to begin with never mind the capacity to sympathise and she doesn’t even seem to know the word empathy let alone understand the concept on even an intellectual level.
there is one thing in my mind since it watched the episode Caroline burned the letter: WHY TF COULDNT THEY AT LEAST TAKE A PICTURE OF IT OR MAKE A COPY?!? if they did care could read it later…
Not people blaming Elena for flipping the switch. Elena didn’t have a choice and as Caroline’s friend, she doesn’t want Care to make the choice that was taking away from Elena herself, because she knows how difficult dealing with the guilt after is. If it was my friend who contemplated doing this, I would also do everything in my power to talk them out of it.
This! Let’s also not forget that Elena was also the only not so caught up in her own head thus paying closer attention to the cues that she realised what Caroline’s plan was when literally no one else did.
Not only Caroline, the entire show seems to forget Elena’s Sire Bond after the S4 finale-which is really fucked up because that Bond messed with her free will & head so completely the entire next season’s Elena arc should have been her dealing with the psychological fallout, but instead she’s just as fine as always and it’s like she never experienced the torture that was the mental enslavement. It’s extra annoying because Caroline’s journey to regaining her agency after Damon’s compulsion/abuse is explored, Stefan gets to fuck with the town’s safety & have a revenge arc when he gets his agency back from Klaus’s clutches, Tyler gets multiple seasons worth of a recovery & revenge arc once he’s freed himself from his Sire Bond to Klaus… those three are all for recovering agency & having a difficult time dealing with the fallout, but only Tyler really cares about Elena’s for Elena’s sake. Sorry for a ranting tangent, the whole agency & consent thing with the Bond or even plain old compulsion gets me worked up, especially when the main female lead is just expected/written to simply brush it off & forget it all while later having some of the worst experiences/traumatic events that occurred as a result of it being thrown in her face by so-called friends instead of listening to the lessons she’s learned from it & now sharing so as to spare them extra preventable agony.
As many in the comments say, I think they just needed to give Caroline the time she asked for. She has the best control over herself than centenarian Stefan and Damon. Yes, she fed, but she didn't kill anyone. All the others started a meaningless meat grinder, which always really pissed me, because it's hard for me to separate a character with humanity on and off. To be honest, the older I get, the more I hate vampire characters (except Caroline) forget about the villains, but how many innocent people were killed by Stefan and Damon? It's ridiculous. I'll count it next time I watch, but it's going to be a loooong list.
I don't know why the whole process and episodes of Caroline's losing her mother made me much more emotional, rather than Elena'a losing any of her loved ones. I cried like hell for Caroline, even sometime for Bonnie too, but never shed a drop of tears for Elena. I just couldn't like this Elena character.
I feel it would’ve been better to call up Klaus and have him use his ability to compel other vampires on her to lessen the pain she was going through or make it easier to handle instead of her having to turn off her humanity. He totally would’ve done it, he loved her and wouldn’t have wanted to see her suffering and also would’ve known she would regret it if she turned off her humanity.
Except Elena didn't turn it off. Damon forced it off! Also, how is reminding your friend how bad a person can get without humanity making it about yourself.
Stefan literally does this multiple times over in multiple different situations/contexts… but no one calls him self-centred/selfish/egotistical or accuse him of making it about himself; characters & viewers alike see it for what it is-someone who has experienced too much imparting the lessons learned from that first hand experience. In other words, when Stefan does it it’s accepted as a sincere attempt to help, but if Elena does it it’s somehow insincere & she’s a self-absorbed, cold-hearted, controlling narcissist. The hypocrisy & double standards is infuriating… especially when Elena wouldn’t have experienced a fraction of the pain causing her to learn those lessons in the first place if it weren’t for the rest of the Gang’s choices to treat her like a mindless plaything. Ugh!
@@jessicadangerfield1539 Yes! There are valid reasons to have issues with Elena but I feel like half of the fandom either makes things up, just hates teen girl and how they act, hates her more than other characters who did the same thing she did, or hates her more for letting a character get away with something than they do the character for doing the bad thing.
The thing is this wouldn’t happen in real life and that’s what elena is getting at you can’t just shut your emotions off and not deal with sure you can bottle things up but it’s still ends up pouring over the only reason they get to shut it off is because they are vampires. So elena is saying we would have to deal with it if we weren’t and she basically said it was a mistake what she did so she is trying to stop her from making one too
Idk why people hate Elena so much she is an okay character she just never really got to make any of her own decisions and people get mad at her for crying all the time but basically all of her family is dead and the people she care about are always getting put in danger I would be crying too also people say she doesn't care about her friends but she has tired to sacrifice herself multiple times for them but never had the chance because No One lets her make any of her own decisions
@@alijade101 i'm not saying she is perfect but people just hate on her to hate she has done nothing wrong on purpose I mean I like Caroline and Bonnie but Caroline can be a little much sometimes and Bonnie can be annoying sometimes but that just means that there not perfect and that means the writers did a good job of not making them perfect because then people can relate to the character more I mean yeah Elena does have her flaws but so do every single other character but for some reason they decide not to look at there's and focus more on Elena's because she's the main character
Elena was forced to because she was under a sire bond. Damon told her to. It’s not the same. But honesty I don’t blame either of them, losing someone is hard af
Caroline is forgetting that she was sired to Damon and had no choice but to turn it off. Everyone hates on Elena so much yet I don't know or understand why.
When Caroline shut her humanity off after her mum died was really heartbreaking for her,she really has been through alot if pain and she just wants to turn it off,so she doesn't have to feel anymore pain😫😫😭😭
Next thing caroline broke elena neck.. I loved that part cos I like caroline and bonni they are always saving live of Elena even though elena messed up all things.. Really I don't like elena in this show... If tvd part 2 will come just don't include elena..
Also point to note Caroline was perfectly fine even with her humanity turned off. I feel like it would've been okay for her to have stayed like that was a little longer
Am i the only one who believes that unlike the others, when she turned all off, she deserved just to be left alone? I mean she already proved that she had brain and control, so she could go on like that for 1 year without conseguences
I genuinely feel like they should have let her do what she needed to do. But Steffan had to prioritize his stupid man guilt. He didn't respect her boundaries and pushed her to burn the letter from her mom. I feel like if anyone could have pulled this off successfully it would have been her.
It's so cringe they act like it's just a switch they get to flip on and off. Vampire the masquerade at least makes you deal with it every step along the way
I hated this scene so much because Elena had NO CHOICE in turning off her humanity. She was sired to Damon when he told her to turn it off. He left her no choice in turning it off. Now she did choose to erase her memories and that is fair for Caroline to use against her but the humanity switch was not. I don’t think that they should have intervened if Caroline really needed it and let her have some time away from her grief. Part of Caroline’s issues was that they tried to get her to turn it back on so they gave her the only copy of her mom’s last words to her that no else even read first so she lost even more on the other side of her humanity switch.
I hated Caroline for the way she Treated Bonnie after Enzo died after this. Didnt want to give her a minute to feel the grief and be there for her, it was like Bonnie wasnt allowed to feel grief.
You know Caroline was one of the hardest vampire to turn there humanity back on bc she turned it off on her mothers funeral so there was no family to help her and her mother was the only person she could’ve counted on for anything and then she died so yh
I hated Caroline in the books, she was selfish and spiteful. Just like the Elena in the books was braver and less pitiful. But In the series I loved Caroline because she was caring and understanding and I hated Elena because she was so frustrating and annoying.
@@alijade101 yes, I totally recommend. The story line is completely different though. I enjoyed the books more than the series tbh, Though the books do have a more horror theme slightly? Definitely more entertaining when you get further into the plot.
