If we're going to talk or if anybody is going to say anything I think we would start off with people like Mahalia Jackson if we want to compare vocal styles but obviously people.. women.. artists.... who can sing from the bottoms of their feet to the top of their heads are carrying something that might be known as the Black Cross of the Blues, and for those who don't know what that is I suggest they go back and listen to this song again and maybe they'll catch on this time After all I once heard my Father Jesus saying that all that was necessary was that we would believe for he said with God nothing is impossible, so I guess the operative word here would be "with" as in "with God" Nuff said..

Did not. But accidentally came across her...Amazing young Lady. Then I found her singing with Bonnie Raitt 😍💕 I live in the South and love everyone. However, Bonnie will back out....how precious is that? True Lady. 👍

I think the difference between Carolyn and Janis (Although I hate comparing artists) is that even though Carolyn has that SAME level of Joplin's passion, she doesn't let it "take over" her voice or performance. She reigns it in to preserve a bit more "polish" for the listener. I just learned of her and am going to check out more.

yip...Houston girl...seen her many times in town at every club years ago. Worked it all the time. Such a humble and kind person too.

@@KB-ke3fi I have noticed that the greats, in any profession, are usually humble and down to earth. The mediocre and less can be real jerks. I think they know they're not that good and lash out to protect themselves. That's my observation anyway.

Exactly; and the"outroduction" almost put her over the top... **"The TWO hardest working women in show business"**. You could tell being placed at the "level" of Bonnie nearly made her piss herself! :-)... Such power and yet such humility. Just think about how rare that is these days.

Most people don't know that Janis and Jimmy Hendrix lived and spent time in Memphis my dad was in the club business and took my sister and me to overton park when I was 4 we were playing and we noticed her play in guitar flattop and we both just drawn to her and she stopped ask our names I boldly told her she smiled said a few words and I think abt our dresses we were so frozen could hear dad calling us bt I just fell in love she giggled and dad took us by our hands and told us to say goodbye I grew up in a very musical family and at that moment it determined what kind of music Id love I personally can't sing a lick oh bt how I always wished I could a great moment and memory in my life

Yes all of my memories I share are truthful I'm 55now and it wasn't long after that and she was gone I was so sad for days still so sad at what else she would be given us thanks for listening

Oh yeah, she was like, "holy crap, I just played with Bonnie Raitt"! Looked like she was gonna cry. And... they played on of my favorite songs. Just some trivia: I was in a medical trauma rehab center in New York back in 1988 after I was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident. I made friends with an older woman who was there because she fell off a ladder and hurt her neck, I think. We always spoke in the rehab's gym and whenever we met around the hospital. One day she told me her daughter was finally able to come and see her. And who walks in? Bonnie Raitt. I was talking to Bonnie's mom and dad for weeks (I was there for five months) without knowing! Ya never know...

understanding opinions though I think her expressions was acknowledging her realizing that she...with Bonnie backing... nailed that tune big time to the wall.. excellent, thanks for posting.
