Thank you Mohamed! It fascinates me how complicated our body is and how modern medicine can help laypeople understand a little about these tests. I had this done on Thursday. The girl said, it's better to wait until my apointment with the cartiologist in two weeks to get ALL of my test results. She said, if there was any alarms, he would call right away. She said the goal now is to NOT hear from him until my appointment! I'll accept that. I'm 74, obese and get winded after climbing the staircase to my 3rd floor condo. I started a diet 3 weeks ago and have lost 5 lbs. Carbs and sugar have been my enemy. I want to start taking better care of my heart. I hope I'm not too late.
@@mohamed-omer Thanks for the response Mohamed. God has been very good to me throughout my lifetime. He let me survive the Vietnam war as a combat Marine. After that experience, 'mostly' everything else has been easy.
Nice video. I just took my 78 year-old neighbor in for this procedure today, and though I could not see the screen, I could hear those audible sounds every once in a while. The sounds generated on his right carotid artery sounded much different than his left carotid artery, which was operated on a month ago because of 95% blockage. Does this indicate anything? My friend is not scheduled to see his doctor about these results until April 12, and he was curious as to what was going on. The technician would not tell us.

The technician at my cardiologist's office couldn't find my left vertebral artery. I found out recently from a CTA, it arises directly from the aortic arch and it's got apparent moderate to severe stenosis. I wonder if its unusual origin was why the tech wasn't able to find it. I will be going to a vascular surgeon for another ultrasound. Hopefully they can find the artery and it turns out ok.

Very interesting. When is this test recommended? Could this be done to see where someone is in terms of a preventive measure even if they aren't experiencing symptoms or would it be a waste of money? Seems this should be a routine test, sort of like a colonoscopy?
