I love the interpretation of a Carousel as the endless cycle between an addict and their drug/habit; because it's so true; they use drugs to feel better, come down feeling worse, then use more to feel normal, then they feel worse again so that they need it again and again and again until, if they don't decide to get some help, the "ride" ends permanently.
