Good morning. Even when you don't feel good you put on a happy face, that always makes my day better. You have encouraged to get my weight down I am happy to say. Since November or maybe December I have gone from 217 to 199.4. I really follow what value yarns you like because I too have dry hands.
As always, I love your reviews with a good ole fashioned Swatchiepoo!! 😜 That's beautiful yarn at Michaels and yes, that would be a beautiful spring cardigan! 😊👍🧶
Thank you for doing this yarn review. I haven't used either one before. Loving the one you just finished up with so beautiful. A beautiful Spring top for sure.
Good evening! I finally sat my butt down and got to watch my friend's review, yay🎉 I agree with your assessment and i don't have skin issues. I just enjoy when a yarn feels so good that you're drawn to it. See you tomorrow ❤
Good morning Jennifer, thank you so much for showing us about these yarns. After watching this, I think I will give the Loops and Threads a try. It looks so pretty. Wishing you a beautiful blessed day 🙏🏻💝
Hi Jen, great yarn review as always. I’ve that exact color carousel mix from Michaels, it’s so soft. I was thinking of a wearable, maybe a long cardi. Have a great day and feel better.
❤❤❤I love your wind chimes! It's one of my favorite sounds... Your hook is so pretty , and that yarn looks really annoying to work...thank you for this review...😊😊😊
I’m so glad you reviewed those yarns! I didn’t like the feel of Joann’s either. Didn’t know about the Michael’s yarn . Gonna have to try it. Thanks so much again and hope you have a wonderful day!
Good day, the Joanns twist would look awesome as a hat it beautifully worked up. My Joanna has boxes everywhere you can't even find the yarn. They have so much merchandise and not enough help. But they work hard to keep there customers happy. Michaels looks smoother and softer, I love that color of yarn. I would end up breaking that hook, it looks so delicate. I might order one and try it out.
thanks for sharing. I had touched the Joanns carousel yarn and decided to pass on it, seemed rough to me, pricey and not much yardage. Thanks for the tip on the barcode for the apps I didn't know about it and I could have used that at Joanns stores in the past when I wanted to price yarn.
I purchased and made a hat with the Joann’s version and love the color transition. But, the yarn is so so splitty! I used a metal hook and had the same problem you had.
Good morning and thank you for sharing your impressions on Carousel yarns. Enjoy your videos. Love the wind chimes! May I make an observation on how to pull yarn, please. I was taught when skeins of yarn are wound like Red Heart, to start the yarn you pull the yarn end from the center of the skein and the yarn works from inside out. When skeins of yarn are wound like Carousel, to start the yarn, you start from the outside end and yarn works outside in. Each person does things a different way but when starting on outside end on Carousel type skeins, no barf/rats nest or hard to find end of yarn. 😀 Have a blessed day.
Why do they make it so hard to find the end from the inside? Even when I give up and try to start from the outside I sometimes have difficulty finding the end too!! Wow!! Thanks for reviewing this yarn, and thanks for the beautiful wind chime music in the background - Love it❤
Good afternoon Jennifer I cannot wait to hear your opinion of the carousel big twist yarn from I made a necklace out of the big twist carousel Hyacinth from Joanne! I really like it! Versus carousel from Michaels? I have not used the carousel twist I think it looks nice!
Luv the yarn talk.If you wanted to make a poncho to last forever Would you use Premier Anti Pilling Chunky ;Premier Basix Chunky or would you go King Cole wool mix that's washable.Would appreciate your idea. Its gonna be solid color
This is PERFECT timing for this video!! I was just last night considering buying both of these as Puzzle dupes, so I super appreciate the review!!! I didn't end up buying them because I think I'd need to see the color options in person. I like the Puzzle colorways so much more. I haven't tried the Impressions version tho, and their colorways look pretty good. Anyway, thanks for the review!! Also, I ordered an Ommi hook from Amazon, and it's been over two weeks and hasn't been shipped yet... is that normal?
It depends on what the original listing said. Some of them take a month to ship, some ship next day. They are made in India i believe. So that may be why.
I feel like I need to go feel up the Carousel yarn I bought. It didn’t stand out as being awful to me and I hate wool lol. I’m also just far more into finer weight yarns- laughing to realize they labeled it a 4 because I just assumed it was a 5. So I bought it for the scarves and hats I’ve been making like crazy lately anyhow. But I am bummed your local store didn’t have it in because as I told you- I have photos of how utterly effed up the dye lots are. Like three radically different looking yarns with the same name and even the same dye lot. It was so bad. I’ve never seen such an insane discrepancy like that. Especially with even the dye lots being the same. So if your store does get it in- just take a look. My store didn’t have a ton left because of the sale and I told you my disaster trip to Canton Joann’s who had all that Darn Good Yarn and some of the super fancy Lion Brand but otherwise was empty shelves and boxes everywhere. I think I saw maybe a single skein of Carousel there. 🙄 This all said- I’ve never used a wood hook yet but I have a 5.5 that’s been sitting in its packaging forever. Guess it’s my time to try it. As soon as I finish one of my many current WIPs. And dang it. I didn’t even know about the Michael’s yarn. I don’t go there as often because my local one doesn’t have a ton of yarn and they put in those overly fancy self checkouts and just yuck. I was there just as they were beginning to clearance out some of the winter yarns. And I went for the newer ombré yarn but they were picked over and didn’t have enough of the shade I wanted. And I picked up a Coconut Caron Cake- which I assume you have zero interest in but you know my personal sensory thing has me loving cotton and that weird fuzz/ looks scrubby but isn’t rough thingies on that… I don’t think I like them yet I see a beach tote or something like that with it. Totes have been my other big thing with the scarves and hats. Rambling. Told you my adhd meds aren’t quite right here. lol. I think I just proved I reeeeeally don’t need more yarn but now I want to go buy that Carousel Twist. 😂
Also- as someone who loves Puzzle and often eyes that Loops & Threads Impressions yarn- I’ll be blunt. The Big Twist just wins from a poverty standpoint. 😂 I do want to go work with it now. I have a blanket I really want to make with the mint colored Puzzle and pick a few more up on the rare occasions I hit Walmart. But too expensive. 😢 I should probably watch for a good sale from Premier. But all I can say is that $3.99 sale. That’s where Big Twist wins.
@Cinnamon Stitches Have you ever done an affordable yarn ranking, when it comes to skin sensitivity? I would LOVE that if you have time, I know you’re busy ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, sweetie. This was a good review, it helps us decide which yarn is preferred. Ive used Puzzle in several projects and love it. To have a similar yarn with a better price is a plus. Its funny that JkAnn and Michaels both put out a Carousel yarn at the same time and that are so similar is a bit strange, to me. It makes me wonder if they have the same marketing company.
