Without a doubt, the highlight of my 2023 year was the capture of this old beast of a carp "The Friendly Linear" from the Woolpack Lake 5/6.
After I had seen the images and video of Dave Little with her a couple of years ago I just knew that was the one I wanted from this historic venue and laid out a plan to hopefully catch her, although it took me a couple of years to realise my dream...
She certainly ran me a merry dance for the previous season, from where I had targetted her in a swim she was known to be caught from, id set up a little plan to bait an area and a certain spot when I left after my weekly 48hrs trip and hopefully lure her onto the area and subsequently catch her, the spot had been getting harder and harder after the regular baiting was starting to work and with a few fish falling from there the plan was sure to come to fruition shortly!
Well the plan worked so to speak, but unfortunately, it wasn't me who caught her, not once but twice she came from my baited spot but that's fishing for you and made the capture of her to my rods the more sweeter, when finally from a totally different area of the lake this season she was mine.
It all goes to show that with consistency, hard work, believing in yourself, and a bit of luck you can realise your dreams and it really does only take one bite... #itonlytakesonebite
