Common carp (Cyprinus carpio carpio morpha accuminatus) mouth surgery
Common carp is a native Hungarian fish species and it has great ecological importance at Lake Balaton. The officially acknowledged owner of the landrace is the Balaton Fish Management Non-Profit Ltd. Research on its reproduction was carried out at the Department of Aquaculture Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety at Szent Istvan University. The results of experiments contributed to the management of natural populations and serve the continuously increasing angling demand.
One of the male broodfish got injured in the mouth. The open wound on the maxillary region formed a tunnel in the mouth. The injury irritated the animal during the feeding, the carp stopped eating and started to be cachectic. After the preparation of the procedure the fish was placed into the anaesthesia bath. Anaesthesia was induced and maintained with 2-Phenoxyethanol. Deepening the anaesthesia the first effects were visible, the swimming movements were less coordinated. The water of the anaesthesia bath was constantly circulated through the gills during the procedure with a small pump. Lidocain was injected locally. First the necrotic tissues were removed, then the wound edges were refreshed, finally it was flushed through with Betadine solution. The lesion was closed with monofilament absorbable suture (X suture technique). Tissue adhesive glue was also applied to make the sutures more resistant. Following the end of the suturing the carp was waking up in „fresh”water bath without anaesthetic. The antibiotic cure was started and (intramuscular Enrofloxacin injection) was continued for 6 days. The carp started to swim, voluntary movements were visible. The fish was replaced to the keeping tank after complete awakening.

Balatoni sudár ponty (Cyprinus carpio carpio morpha accuminatus) szájsebészeti beavatkozás
A nagy gazdasági értéket képviselő balatoni sudár ponty a Balaton vízgyűjtő területén élő őshonos államilag hivatalosan is elismert tájfajta. Tulajdonosa és fenntartója a Balatoni Halgazdálkodási Nonprofit Zrt. A Szent István Egyetem MKK TEMI Halgazdálkodási Tanszék Intenzív Recirkulációs Rendszerében a faj szaporodásbiológiai vizsgálatai révén hozzájárulunk a tóban élő természetes állományok megsegítéséhez, valamint a tavon évről-évre egyre erősödő horgászkereslet kiszolgálásához.
Az egyik tejes tenyészállat felső szájpadlásán kezdetben egy seb keletkezett, majd ez egy alagúttá alakult át. A halat ez zavarta a táplálkozásban, nem evett, lesoványodott. A műtét előkészítése után a pontyot áthelyeztük az altató kádba. Az altatásban történő műtéti beavatkozáshoz 2-Phenoxyethanol került elkeverésre a vízben. A szer hatására az állat bódulni kezdett, mely során a mozgása egyre kevésbé volt koordinált. A kellő mélységű anesztézia szint elérésekor az állatot matracra helyeztük, a narkózist itt az altatószeres víz kopoltyún való folyamatos átáramoltatásával biztosítottuk. A terület Lidocainnal történt beszűrése gondoskodott a fájdalomcsillapításról. Ezt követően az érintett területről el kellett távolítani az elhalt szöveteket és fel kellett frissíteni a sebszéleket. Mind a sérülés elülső, mind pedig a hátulsó bejáratánál felszívódó monofil fonállal történt a sebzárás, melyet később szövetragasztóval megerősítettünk. Az állat ezután átkerült friss, altatószer mentes vízbe és megkezdődött az ébresztése. Az antibiotikum kúra során Enrofloxacin injekciókat kapott intramuscularisan 6 napig, ezzel is védve a sebet a fertőzésektől. Miután a ponty elkezdett magától mozogni, egyensúlyát megtartotta, visszahelyezésre került a tartó medencébe.
