How hard is it to catch a carp on a dry? Like a large (size 10ish) parachute adams, or stimulate...
@carponthefly8282
@carponthefly8282 4 месяца назад
It is probably the easiest way to get them on a fly. With the caveat that they need to be rising. But if they are looking at the surface and eating, they tend not to to be too picky.

I hate to ask. But I would love to go out to that spot and take photos of wildlife. Would it be ok to know?

I would be happy to tell you face to face or on a DM, but not on an open forum like this. Feel free to hit me up on instagram or facebook.

What about the Carp that are staying still?
@carponthefly8282
@carponthefly8282 4 месяца назад
If carp are perfectly still, they generally will not eat. It’s not 100%, but the odds of getting an eat from a stationary fish are so low it isn’t worth messing with. We are more likely to fully spook that fish, which will proceed to spook and drag along the 3 other fish in the area that would have eaten. Find a different target. That is my advice.

Great video, lovely to see carp being caught on fly gear and also being well thought of by some in the USA. What rod and line were you using?
@carponthefly8282
@carponthefly8282 4 месяца назад
My favorite carp rod right now is the Sage Maverick 790. My terminal tippet was 10lb fluorocarbon.

Looks like nice fishery! Although, I bet the bowhunters would destroy that place pretty quick!

No doubt, I try not to share these spots for this reason. I’m happy to share with fly anglers, but the bow fisherman can suck it.

@@carponthefly8282 haha...yep! And I don't consider shooting fish "fishing" as they are not coaxing the fish to eat anything. It's barely 'hunting' in most instances. From what I have observed the phrase 'shooting fish in a barrel comes to mind'.

What about using the kayak, could had been better? Thanks 🙏
@carponthefly8282
@carponthefly8282 4 месяца назад
This spot is really hard to use a SUP or Kayak. These fish spook so easy in the clear water. It is doable. But it is just really difficult.
