This set of your videos was awesome info :) I'm set to get my bilateral CT surgery end of Dec and have just been looking for any info on the real life after care stuff....so this was great. Thanks so much!!
I know it has been quite some years now since your surgery and since you uploaded the videos, but I still want to thank you! I'm scheduled for surgery in about 3 weeks and I eventually have to get both hands done. Thanks to your videos I made up my mind that I just want to have them done both at once because I also can't be bothered to go through this twice. xD I live alone, so I might have to take care of a few more things than I initially thought but I take those "few days" of struggling if it means I only have to go through this hole process once. :D Again, thank you and hope your hands are still doing great :)
Thanks for your videos. My mother, 86, will be having it as soon as can be scheduled. Only one hand. She is in an assisted living so I hope they are willing to help her more than they currently do.
Having my left hand done in two weeks and I'm so glad you posted this video! Great info on things to prep for around the house that I hadn't thought about, but now I've got a LIST! I see it's been a year since your surgery and hoping you'll do an update video to let us know how your hands are doing now as far as getting your sense of 'touch' back and if you have any residue effects from the surgery. Thanks again.
Thanks for your videos on this topic. I need to have this surgery and I was afraid to lose so much time away from work. You've healed so quickly and that's important to me. I know everyone heals at a different pace but at least I know you can heal fast. The bathroom situation was key for me also. Thanks for being so candid and informative about that as well. You're very brave to have both done at the same time. I could never do that. I'm glad you're healing so well. Thanks again for your videos!!!
Amanda Norris, thanks for your best wishes. It's almost that time and I'm trying to get my place ready so that I am not scrambling at the last minute. I'm not getting both wrists done at the same time(😨)but, I'm getting clothes to wear that are easy to put on and off, food at the ready and slip on shoes so I wont have to tie anything! Thank God I'll still have my left hand to support me. Thanks to your videos and other's that I've watched, I know to be prepared. I hope you're fully recovered and thanks again. God bless!
Thank you Sweetie for all your videos, so helpful! I wondered how did you get up after opening the door with your feet!! I am 78 and having my left hand done next week - have a lot of shoulder pain with mine, sure hope I do as well as you! I will be buying a long handled shower puff for sure, haha💕❤️
Thanks so much for all of the updates I have my surgery scheduled for July 27, 2018. I do have twin girls 11 week olds but I have to have surgery in both because I cant care for them properly. The cortisone shots and therapy and meds have not helped. I have been in tearful pain so enough is enough. Thanks again this videos are amazing.
Hi Amanda! I am scheduled for CT release (left hand) surgery sometime in July. Of course, I WAS a nervous wreck, but that that was until I saw your videos. I feel more comfortable about the thought of getting this surgery. Thank you for all of the helpful information!!!
Thank you so much your videos put my mind at rest on what to expect after surgery. Its 5 days and my hand is very swollen and sore had the elbow tendon realesed at the same time.
I’m the same exact way! I have three young children so I am constantly cleaning, doing laundry, changing diapers..etc. So yea, trying to slow down like you said is going to be hard!
She's right about the bandages getting wet. Use gloves, like the ones you would use to color your hair, and hair scrunchies to close around the wrist. It worked pretty well for me. I wouldn't advise getting both hands done at the same time for all of the reasons Amanda had problems with.
Thanks for video. Have surgery on non dominant hand In two days. Good tips on letting myself relax to heal. That’s a hard one for me. Lol. Hope things are going well for you.
@@amandanorris6616 great 👍🏾 today makes 1 week post surgery. Overall I’m going through the healing process and my family members are very supportive thanks so much for reaching out.
I'm really scared of getting this carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm quite young and I play games regularly. I used to do it on a controller but I recently moved to keyboard and mouse. I naturally use my arm for the mouse instead of a wrist like many people do, although I still use very slight wrist motion. I always wonder just how likely I am of getting this syndrome in the future and it worries me so much.
Hi Amanda, I had CTR on my right had on December 24th. I was wondering how your surgery is holding up for you. I am having a little swelling and still some numbness. How long after your surgery did the numbness go away? And thank you for your videos!
Hello Amanda. I am due for surgery on Tuesday next week this year October 22, 2019 and I am scared. I am only getting my right hand done first because, I am a driver for the city of phoenix and I need to work. I am afraid to get the surgery because me and my boyfriend go half on all the bills, and I feel like I will be leaving my boyfriend hanging to pay for all the bills, however being the fact that you got both done I think that is a good idea. I am going to ask the medical assistant about it and maybe I should do that instead of wait til next year to get the left hand done. I am so glad you mentioned the poof with the stick I bought one of those a few weeks ago for me and my boyfriend so i'm glad to hear that taking a bath will not be so bad if I use that instead. I am a little embarrassed to say the least about having my boyfriend wipe me and bathe me but he wont mind. Its just the thought is in the back of my mind and I am embarrassed. Thank you Amanda for sharing your journey and results I feel a lot better now after watching your videos :)
@@iamalexvera hi alacks I did and the surgery went well. I got it done on both my hands at the same time and you just have you take your pain pills around the clock and taking a shower or bath is a challenge because you can't get them wet and you also can not and I repeat you can not lift anything heavy at all you have to take things easy. You definitely need someone around to help you out with regular daily activities. For 2 to 3 weeks
Hey Amanda thanks for these videos they were very helpful. I just got the surgery for my left hand done this past Thursday, so it's been 6 days since I had it. I'm going to get my right hand done at a later time. I live alone, so I would not be able to handle both at once lol yesterday I noticed some light tingling in my thumb, index, and middle finger on my left hand, but only when I would keep my hand down to my side. I was wondering if you experienced something similar to that? Thanks again
Hey. I wanted to say I had the nerve test and Thursday I got a cortisone shot. I go back in 2 months to see if the shot helped if so we're talking surgery. My family thinks it's for carpal tunnel this series has been helpful in me finding out what to expect I have symptoms in both hands but my hand specialist is really only concerned in my right hand because I have a history of self harm on my right forearm which is why I started seeing him. But what gets me is I'm left handed and I wish he'd do bi-lateral but he insists only my right hand first.
A week and 3 days ago and I was looking at yours were you took care of that your gallbladder and 3 days did they get the doctor tell you to do that or that's something that you did that help you out more I know that my surgery was a success because I can't tell you how my fingers are I just got my left hand dead and a plan to get my right hand Dead one day I don't know because with the left hand it is hard to do thing I mean do things and I know what my right hand I'm right handed this really going to be hard because I do have a problem with cleaning myself different stuff like that like you said but I was just wondering what condition could you give me how long did it take that he owed all the way thank you so much
Hi Barbie! I was able to go back after 3 weeks on serious light light duty. My work did not honor my restrictions though. So i had 6 weeks off work. lol It was so boring for me
I sit at a desk and type (work from home too), I had my surgery on Friday and worked on Monday. You're not allowed to lift anything more than 5lbs for 2 weeks so it depends on your work. The stitches stay in your hand for 2 weeks so the biggest debilitation is the surgical area. My wrist and finger strength seem pretty good, Won't really know until I get my stitches out.
Oh man thank you for this information, helps me a lot. I'm going in for carpal tunnel and trigger finger release at the same time this Friday... Wish me well. Can't wait to be normal.
I had both carpal tunnel and middle trigger finger release 11 days ago. My thick bandage and stitches came out yesterday. My surgeon gave me post-op hand & finger exercise instructions, but nothing specific for my middle finger. I found this video which is very helpful for both trigger finger & carpel tunnel physical therapy exercises. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lU37zxuPM1g.html. Even though most of my hand & arm was heavily bandaged, I started exercising & stretching my fingers day after surgery to start range of motion and prevent scar tissue. Good luck!
I honestly had no pain , I started to do my exercises on the day of surgery and I’ve had no pain . None at all . BUT the door thing is a problem and driving because I drive stick shift
I'm on day 10 with my right hand. Kinda wish I would have done bilateral because it suuuuucked. My left is scheduled for this Monday. Not looking forward to it because I know more what to expect now. I did it without IV anesthesia because I hate needles and didn't want to feel loopy so I just had a local shot my hand. I could feel tugging and the tourniquet was pretty tight but otherwise it was totally the way to go for me. BUT I did learn not to try and be a hero and go without the prescription narcotic after surgery. We didn't pick up the prescription the first day because I thought I could do without, but by the time the numbing wore off at 9 p.m. Tylenol and ibuprofen we're not cutting it and the pharmacy was closed. Big mistake. Take the drugs. Lol
Lol that's what I did before surgery made sure everything was good rested I. o ly one week it hurts really bad still she did elbow too thank God for my hubby he helped .e through it
Jealous watching this almost one week our bilateral still have bandages my phone feels like a dumbbell can’t touch my fingers to each other if anyone else watching is freaking out . Still can’t toilet myself bloody humiliating butttt found a few tricks 😂congrats on everyone who’s had this hang in ❤cause holy shit this is horrible
Hey i been haveing problem with my hands i think im gonna have to have surgery done I had it done on my knee i eat tb dinner for 3weeks i could not cook that was my first time getting surgery done
MommyHome&Beyond very much so!!! I took up cupcake and cake decorating as a hobby though once cleared by the doctor. Lol. I’ve been really busy lately and it has disturbed my hands a tiny bit. But I sleep like a baby with no pain at all!
Amanda Norris That is fantastic. I need surgery in both but I have two young children so I am trying to put it off as long as possible. The cortisone injection helped for about 9 months so I might try that again to but me some time. I am 30 and have had carpal tunnel for six years.
I'm 57 and had the nerve test today. I have severe c.t. and surgery will be scheduled next week. Thank you for sharing Amanda, and MHB,get it done. Your thumb muscle will waste away, and it doesn't come back, mine is severe, but could be saved
@@amandanorris6616 hi there..I bad surgery done nearly 3 weeks ago and my wound is really itchy which I cannot control as I am intolerant to benadryl. It gives me palpitations. I don't slerp much because of this and I get bouts kg burning tingling sensations in my pslm still I had a lot of localised swelling close to the incision as I had a thumb joint arthroscopy also due to arthritis there. I know you csn get symptoms like that after surgery sometimes but zm judt really scared. I saw a PT who is having me massage the scar and the swelling and do exercises. Thank you if you can advise. Just panicking
Most of these issues are avoided by only doing one hand at a time. I find it difficult to manage every day tasks with one hand incapacitated let alone two. Kudos for doing the videos but would have liked to see a follow-up when the stitches came out and a final one maybe 12 weeks out to discuss the total outcome, hope you are well.
7 months later I still get uncomfortable putting all my weight on my hands. The ligament is still tender. I have been doing acupuncture to help this. However, I'm out of shape and got a little extra junk in the trunk if you know what I mean. As for right after surgery. I would say no and not for several months. But everyone is different.
@@amandanorris6616 Interesting and I'm sorry to hear that. Did your doctor give you a regimen of Physical Therapy after the stitches came out? I'm get my stitches out next Thursday and I'm not sure what to expect. I know the surgical area is tender and I suspect that will go on a few weeks but no problems with my wrist so far.
all we are concerned with.... is how does it feel after surgery i don't care what you watch on Netflix or what you are cooking who cares that you had to open a door with your feet... or your dog keeps opening the door (give me a break) im sorry did you step away from the video with out pausing
