I have been needing to do the rear brakes on my 2017 F350 dually since I got the truck with 70k miles but as every dually owner does I put it off because it is a pretty time consuming job. Well even though it is time consuming it is totally worth it one of the rotors may have been warped and the old bearings were starting to have grooves, I finally got rid of the weird vibration that I had at 78 1/2 mph. CarParts.com sent all of the brake components and got me the one Timken bearing I couldn't source locally.

If your replacing pads and rotors just take pry bars and push the pistons back before u take the caliper off.

I really liked the jack stands you didn't use. And i really like you entrusted a small floor jack probably from harbor freight to hold a 7,500 lb truck up the entire time you were working

It amazes how many people never replace the hardware that come with the new pads nor grease all the pins and slide points. Saves you a lot of money when all the parts operate freely and smoothly. Binding and sticking will wear out your breaks real fast! And torques specs will save you from damaging the threads on the fasteners as well as prevent catastrophic failure from fasteners becoming loose.

That was a lot of work, but now you won't have to worry about it again for a long time. Timken bearings have a very good reputation, they've been around a very long time.

One very important point . Always use jack stands, never rely on the jack to support the vehicle weight and it keeps the vehicle from rocking like it was.

I am putting the Powerstops on my Sienna van tomorrow weather permitting. I have them on my Tacoma and the wife's Rav 4 and they have been working awesome. Just have to follow the break in/bedding procedure on the box and you will have squeak free, long lasting brakes!

Those old front brakes looked amazing. If i had access to my own lathe I would have just done a shallow pass on the old rotors instead of replacing them. Other than being shiny, they looked brand new.

Can always machine those and save them for spares for road trips, if you have them you wont need them lol

I usually lightly pack the bearings with a lil grease, makes em stick in place and coats em till the gear oil gets to them!

Next time go to do the rear wheel bearings, when you put the oil in the hub you can make a little dam of grease at the bottom so it can hold more oil before you put the outer bearing in and there should be little to no spillage.

Just rolled 201k on my 250 and still have 1/2 pads front and rear with 3/4 of those miles with a 20’ gooseneck and tractor or 40’ enclosed with car, motorcycle and tools. I will be looking into a set of those since i will never get another set of Ford pads made like those were anyway.

Considering pricing on new vehicles and also I work in commercial at work selling parts to a fedex place they stock up on rear pads for e350/450 so rear brake pads usually get changed a lot on them

It wouldn't have hurt to do the ebrake shoes and hardware at the same time. Considering you use it for alot of hauling and a tow rig. As others have already stated stands brother.

They didn't crack on the front and for 30-40k that's all that felt was stopping the truck

I ordered the same z36 kit for my power stroke but everyone was warning me about them cracking at the holes and now I’m too paranoid to install them. But a lot of people have good luck from what I’ve seen but probably not my luck.

Parking brake shoes don't wear out as much as front and rear pads. Barely gets used and most likely outlive the life of vehicles. Replacing something that's still in good condition is just throwing money away.

If all u do is Highway your brakes will last forever. Only in city driving really wears brakes out. I can drive 100s of miles and never touch the brakes.

Why are you worrie about some brakes that are not worn out, but your not worrie about the brake fluid that probably has a bunch of moisture in it? I would be more worrie about the brake fluid
