Probably the best female vocalist for a very long time , these natural singers come around once in a lifetime ! Families who sing have a very together sound 👍🏻
Beautiful Soul, Beautiful Voice, Beautiful Woman and no faking any of it, all live and yet she hated herself soooo much that she committed suicide thru anorexia. TRAGIC, such a loss. If only she could have seen through our eyes. RIP ✨💖✨
I do love Carpenters...her voice is superbe! This song has the magical touch and fingerprints of harmonies of Burt Bacharach, 92 years old , a legend who composed Rain drops keep falling on my head ( from the movie Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, wich soundtrack winned Oscar ), and so many others masterpieces ( see a tribute show in the White House in Obama period)
This was live. Listen to the recorded version - it has awesome harmonies all sung by the two of them. Other songs to check out : Rainy Days & Mondays, We’ve Only Just Begun, Merry Christmas Darling, Desperado, Only Yesterday, You....
Great reaction! It was their first hit , was #1 for a couple of weeks! Richard her brother arranged all their songs & wrote many of them. Karen & Richard also did all their own background vocals in the studio for their recordings. This was a live performance so the band members did the background vocals! If you get a chance react to her drumming - she was named rock drummer of the year in 1975. I was lucky enough to have seen live in concert 3 times- just awesome, sound just like their records!
Karen was so very special. She had such an amazing and beautiful voice. My favourite songs of theirs are Superstar, Rainy Days and Mondays, Only Yesterday, Yesterday Once More, and We've Only Just Begun.
Excellent review of this song Frank. I remember all of their songs as I am an old guy now and can say I enjoyed everything she ever sang as her voice was one of a kind! You should listen to "Solitaire," she sang this one beautifully...
Meu Deus Que Voz Linda Angelical Derrete Qualquer Coração De Pedra Ela Era Especial Única Na Arte De Cantar Karen Carpenter Está Em Qualquer lista Séria Entre As Melhores Cantoras De Todos Os Tempos Se Não tiver Não É Seria Essa Lista
I love the carpenters 💕 💕💓💓💕💓💕💓💕💓💓💕 jambalaya, solitarie, this masquerade, you, now, Calling occupants interplanetary craft, for all we know.....💓💓💓💓🥰💓🥰💓🥰💓🥰🥰💓
Bom dia!
John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson.
Great Reaction & nice sweatshirt 😎! It would be great if you'd react to some songs of theirs, no one has done yet. Many you'll see requested are "Ground Hog Day" requests, already done DOZENS of times in recent memory. Should you listen to these songs? Absolutely. Here's a few "Uncharted" Carpenters Gems to consider for reacting: •Goodbye and I Love You• •One More Time• •Hideaway• •Sandy• •Eve•
It was the first song I heard from the Carpenters. I was 5 or 6, born in 1981, all I wanted was to learn to sing like that.... But no one can sing like Karen Carpenter - no one Love The Carpenters
I just went through all your videos from the start, hoping to find a lot more of your reactions to two greats I knew you liked: *The Carpenters and Linda Ronstadt.* I was disappointed to find only this one addition in the many months that have passed, although delighted in this addition itself. There are so many more you should hear from each. And *Linda Ronstadt* sings *many* genres. Be sure not to miss her first hit, *"Different Drum",* with "Stone Ponies", not under her name. I was 6 years old when I first heard this "new" song, "Close to You", but it was from my 9-year-old sister Peggy singing it as she walked around the house, rather than from the radio or a record. When I hear Karen Carpenter singing this, I always think fondly of my sister when we both were little. As for the sideburns you commented on, you too have those sideburns, in hiding. I think of what Michelangelo said about his merely revealing a sculpture by removing the marble that concealed it.
And that's live. How many artist performing these days sound the same live than in their recordings. No auto-tune and no back alley tricks in 1970 just straight up talent. Karen Carpenter was one of a kind and that beautiful voice will live on forever. This is the kind of song that you sit back in your chair with your eyes closed and enjoy it. Unfortunately this video is missing up to 35 amazing seconds of chorus towards the end of the song.
Amo The Carpenters!!!
I think this is live sung with recorded music. This was quite common in the 70s. You can pick out small changes from the recorded version on the vocals, but her pitch is spot on with the variations are mostly tone changes.
Love The Carpenters - they remind me of my childhood in the 70s! Are you familiar with the French band Air? I'd love to see you react to Air - All I Need. Sending good vibes from London :)
Hi Frank. Not sure if you know this but just to give you an idea of how massive an impact THE CARPENTERS had with this song, they won the Grammy of that year for best recording of the year and man, two of the songs that were also nominated that year were LET IT BE by THE BEATLES and BRIDGE OVER TROUBLE WATER by SIMON AND GARFUNKEL. So, I always use this piece of information when people make fun of me for liking this song which so many consider corny and silly.
My brother used to play Mr. Postman a hundred times, may it was the 1st Song I Learned to sing and understand the story. After with Sing, Yesterday, Top of The World...
I don't know why, but for some reason, I have the feeling this started out as a McDonald's advertisement. Though, I could be mixing it up with another similar song.
KAREN What a truly talented singer with a amazing tone. The Carpenters were disregarded by a good part of the cool Woodstock crowds because of their wholesome appearance, singing pretty non controversial songs for the sleepy masses. BUT THEY WERE GOOD
Hi, Frank. Lip-synching was very common starting in the early days of TV. Some shows were almost always entirely lip-synched. Soul Train and American Bandstand come to mind. They were still fun shows to watch.
To really see the contrast between todays artists and lip syncing you should check out Marilyn McCoo on solid gold. There was no lip syncing on the variety shows with the Jackson Five, the Osmonds, John Denver, Glenn Campbell, Tom Jones, Bobby Darin or the Midnight special with all the performers that appeared on that show.
Karen did have a lovely voice. No auto tune. She's an amazing drummer, Look her up. She has some videos on RU-vid. Pick anything & she's just phenomenal. Hi Frank!❤️🙋🏻♀️✝️🇺🇲
Yes, this is live, and there was No Autotune, back then, You had to sing on key. You are correct. To us, from the 60's, Karen has the most angelic voice we have ever heard. No one to date, has matched her voice. What is interesting, is that she didn't want to sing, she wanted to just play the drums in the band.
