The great composer Henry Mancini wrote the music to the text written by his daughter. I would like to have this recording of Karen singing this at my funeral. It says all one needs to say about the appreciation one has to the people that have contributed to your happiness in life. Only Karen could sing this song and make us feel every little word and emotion that it represents. Thank Dani for reacting to this little gem.

A girlfriend dragged me to a Carpenter’s concert in 1973. I knew Karen had an extraordinary voice at the time, but I didn’t really care that much for the music. I’m so glad that I was forced to go. I believe the most sublime thing that I have ever witnessed live in my life was Karen Carpenter that night.

Karen was one of a kind. There will never be another like her. She had such a pure calming voice. And she was a terrific drummer. That was her passion even more than singing. Sadly we lost her so young. Thankfully we have her legacy left in her music. You've done quite a few of their songs already. Other favorites of mine are "For All We Know", "Goodbye To Love", "Top Of The World", "Sing", "Yesterday Once More", "I Won't Last A Day Without You", "Please Mr. Postman", "Only Yesterday", "There's A Kind Of Hush (All Over the World)" & so many more.

Sometimes, not often enough, we forget to say thank you to those we love. So thank you Dani, for the post. Thank you Karen for THE VOICE. Thank you Richard for the exquisite piano and I wish your sister could hear me. Thank you Felice Mancini for the tender lyrics and thank you to your father Henry for setting it to music. Kudos to Dani for trying to describe her voice. You failed, just as all others before you, and you are forgiven.

Hi Dani: Karen was so unique in her ability to express emotion through her vocal interpretations. To be able to evoke that same emotion from her audience is just incredible. Her loss still bothers many of us. Take care.

I heard Karen on the radio in 73 when I was 7 and fell in love with her voice. Still am.

The most fantastic voice that God ever blessed us with. Such a sad story but so much beauty she left behind for all of us to share forever. And yes, Richard was talented in his own rite. The two of them gave us so much wonderful music. Thank you,Dani.

I was a little kid in the 70's so Karen's hauntingly beautiful voice reminds me of riding in the car with my mom and listening to the radio. This made me cry but in a good way. Thank you!

This song is so short but sweet. It's like their cover of 'Goodnight', it manages to be so hauntingly beautiful in such a short space of time.

Impossible for me to attempt to describe Karen's voice, all you need to do is experience it.

What a music era we had. In the same years that we loved Led Zeppelin, we were also loving the Carpenters, all on our favorite radio stations.

Karen's voice was like liquid sunshine. The voice of gold, the voice of an angel, there aren't enough adjectives to describe just how beautiful her voice was. Without a doubt, if you search in rock, no one in contemporary rock had a more beautiful voice then her. Her pitch, the clarity, the smoothness. Just pure magic.

This was one of my most favorite carpenters songs. If I remember correctly the great Leonard Bernstein wrote the music for this. My only regret is that it way to short. You just want to hear more. Wonderful reaction Dani!!

It was Henry Mancini. The poem was a gift from their daughter Felice, to her parents. Henry wrote the music and asked Richard to have Karen sing it.

Good observation that Karen tended to overshadow her brother. Their mother Anges spent her whole life trying to keep Karen down so her fav boy Richard would Shine! Karen knew about all that & it damaged her inside before her anorexia ended her existence.

HI Dani, Sadly, Richard is quite often overlooked but I honestly feel like Karen and Richard were both "Genus" in what they did so brilliantly. There is no one and there never will be anyone Who could sing a song like Karen Carpenter. Every song, every word she sings is just "Heaven on earth" One of the most phenomenal singers who ever lived and the only singer that gives me chills every time I hear that incredible voice. I suggest you check out "I'm Caught Between Goodbye And I Love You" by the Carpenters. Stay well and take care, Dani!!!

Dani, that was a *wonderful reaction.* And I agree, Karen's voice is like a "remedy". Very well put. Please react to more Carpenters...in fact, you haven't reacted yet to one of their very best songs, *"Yesterday Once More".* It's amazing, and incredibly nostalgic. (For the first time listen, I suggest the studio cut.) Cheers!
