Mayor is the figure head of town council. The mayor is president of the board of trustees. Mayor is NOT the police chiefs boss singularly. He must get permission from the board to make an order to a department head.

That’s literally an attorney’s job. He has to stay professional, because if he doesn’t he can get disbarred. Plus if he makes a scene there, it might ruin his reputation.

I'm not from this town but I love to watch these council meeting videos, it's like a soap opera. It's become like a soap opera and it's fantastic entertainment when you're baked. This reminds me so much of "Parks and Rec" right down to the Ron Swanson like gentleman with the mustache, though I say that with respect because he's my favorite character.
Allen Clark I agree. Sarto certainly is not infallible but he's often in the right as well. But as someone else stated earlier, this needs to become a Netflix series. It's just priceless.
This city should be the richest city in the country! The citizens should NEVER have to pay taxes! They should sell tickets to get into this CIRCUS! I’m going to email them and see if out of state visitors can set in there meetings. I don’t want to talk, just watch it live! Everything’s better live! I will drive the 11 hours to watch it in person! It is wonderful! The citizens should be proud of their board! Please, pretty please keep up the awesome show! It seems the head of the board is trying to do things the correct way! The state should come in and run the city until a new board can be elected!!!!! Every person on the board should be permanently ban from ever being on this board again! Each and every person on this board should step down and resign! You all should be ashamed, you are total asses and “”YOU”” act like fools, you’re showing a wonderful example to you’re children and the children of you’re city! How stupid can you people be? Both sides are fools! Why the hell is the lady even talking about her family in a town meeting! Why the hell do both sides feel they must voice their personal family business here! Just shut the hell up! You don’t need to reply if someone says something you don’t like or about your family! If a board member or a board members family committed a crime and found guilty, they should be punished and ashamed! You may love you’re family member, but you should demand you’re loved one to be punished and held accountable! Board-members please do the respectful thing and all of you step down from the board! YOU OWE IT TO THE CITIZENS, THEY DESERVE WAY BETTER THEN YOU PEOPLE! You guys should be presented with a Grammy for the soap-opera you star in! Well done fools! If you say you want the best for the people in the city, then step down would be the best for the people! Awesome job!
We need a festivl to commemorate this amazing show. The production values are so high, it looks almost real. Some of the unseen characters have so much presence by their absence, you can easily imagine them in person. I also think we need to adopt this practice of calling people by their occupation. Attorney Rhodes, Engineer Smith, Fireperson Brown, etc.
I used to be a reporter at a small town paper. I saw some fireworks at council meetings, but nothing close to this continuous dumpster fire. Man, I wish I worked in this town!
He thinks so because, it’s in Illinois. As a very little girl I would go on vacation and because my speech was different then theirs, I would say Chicago, the children would take a step back and say Al Capone. You see children under 12 years of age in the late 60’s early 70’s knew across this country that Illinois was crooked.
Bill Sarto should have been brought up on charges because he was running the meetings for his own personal gain. It was fun to watch all of the controversy with this village and All of these people are no longer on the board as of 2021 thank goodness. Hopefully this village is running 100 % better these days.
I live in England uk and watching these make me realise how little rights we have here in England. But it’s looking like American citizens are loosing their rights also
You can’t make up this drama. I’m hooked on watching this. The attorney is kinda like a referee. If it wasn’t for him I think it would turn into a brawl.
I like the lawyer in this saga, he is the only person to stay on track. This Ritter talks out of his arse. Some of the issues Sarto requested can be asked for merely as a citizen. He has access since he is a board member.
This is great!...every one of you reading this ,should encourage you all to run for public office . You work one day a week and make 25,ooo a year, better than working at McDonald's?
Holy hell this village board is a disaster! Beautiful example of a typical dysfunction government that only serves itself and gets nothing done for the people they serve.
You people don't get the politics in Cgo. We were trying to buy a building in the western burbs.. There was a zoning issue. We went to the village office with the current owner. He explained his case to the clerk. She explained the next meeting of the board was in two weeks. The owner of the property said "you don't understand, I need this done now". He plopped a stack of money on the counter and the clerk nodded and we left. The issue was fixed the next day. I swear to god this happened in every aspect of government there every day.
I believe President Sarto has proven himself as a leader and should be encouraged to claim his well deserved seat in Congress. Continue to make us proud Congressman Sarto!!!
Watching these videos makes me feel good there are checks and balances and their is a board in place. This guy Sarto would absolutely tank this village.
