Carpet Protector - Scotchgard Demonstration 

Nice video. Good representation of how protection works and why customers need it on their carpet.

I liked it because it was honest useful advice. I stumbled on this because I like science and find hydrophobic and super hydrophobic materials facinating and I have so many ideas for it's ponential use.

really cool video , u've just showed that the scotchgard layer will totaly disapear after a little scrubbing of the carpet with my finger .... sorry with my feet, shoes on... :)

You can also use scotchgard to treat clothing. I recently treated a twill shirt. The texture is ever so slightly different, but it is amazing how well it sheds water. Supposedly the fabric will still breath afterwards. It's basically a pore man's Gortex. It's hard to believe this technology has been available since the 1950s. I'm sure the application has become more convenient though.

Doesn't walking on carpets in shoes have the same effect on Scotchgard, as 'scrubbing at it' - breaking down the barrier? Also, how safe is it for animals who wash their feet?

Awesome good job had some idiot from Marks cleaning come out and put upholstery protection on my new sofa 24 hours later tried the water test low and behold bled right through so pissed of and $200 out of pocket am going to try get my money back,and do it myself

The question remaining is if the treated area with the stain can be better cleaned with hot water extraction than the untreated fabric?

Do not know how I got here , but you sir just showed me how they cheat on the shamwow advert showing your the thick carpet gets saved by the shamwow. I'm guessing they have it protected in a similar way !
