I'd set my heart on shutter blinds but realised they covered so much of the ledge there would be no room for my cat to sit. I was also worried she would try and climb up them and trap her paws in the mechanism.

Shutter blinds always need dusting every few days or it builds up - and my friend had them fitted and she felt , despite the fact they were white, made the room dark - take your time to decide - even wait until your “in”

The dark architraves and skirtings make the spaces feel smaller, especially in conjunction with the dark doors. Dark doors would be better offset with white surrounds and skirting boards.

Don’t forget to take meter readings on the day you leave - plus a photo of the meter (gas and electric) I assume you did this she. You took possession of your new home - you need proof of when your bills start and finish. Don’t forget to get your mail re-directed - for at least a year. Get the forms to change your passport, driving licenses, Dr’s, banks, building societies, all your on line shopping - PayPal snd everything you can think of.

I was just in the UK & France. In the UK, I got to visit M&S Foods, Tesco, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, Aldi’s, Co-op Foods & Waitrose. I MISS them compared to US grocery stores! We do have Aldi’s here, but it’s not the same! Didn’t care for Pret, Costa was better (I drink breakfast tea with almond milk). The food is just so much better & CHEAPER in the stores there, compared with the US. Most of London was pretty much hard to get anywhere near Buckingham Palace because of Jubilee prep. I went to Paris last Wednesday & then home over the weekend. Today the weather must have realized how much I missed your weather compared to the Southern US in the summer & it rained heavily. Unfortunately it’s humid now, but not so hot!

Good luck with the move you should be sorted in a year. Hope the cats settle in our dogs did take a little while but dug up a few plants and were happy. Like the carpet very plush and brings the palate together. We're off on holidays Thursday for 17days so will catch up on our return.

I hope the move goes well my loves - moving is so stressful. Good that your getting the fridge and freezer fixed. When you’ve had all new plastering (as we did 15 years ago when we moved in) we were getting plaster dust for 3-6 months - it’s always useful to get a soft ‘ceiling brush’ - wrap a soft cloth round it - and sweep ceilings and walls every few weeks. It really helps. I didn’t know if you were getting new sofas and furniture for the new house - but can’t wait to see it all when your straight.

Light bulbs are a nightmare! You go into the home shop and there are hundreds of different kinds. I have tried 3 times to get the right ones for over my fireplace and they still are not right. Urg!
