Carplay on Harley! (Boom GTS!)

I got Carplay on my 2020 Road Glide with out having to spend crazy Harley money for wired or wireless headsets. This is a super simple task to complete and makes the radio so much better!
This only works on stock GTS radios (the ones with out the rubber buttons) that have not been flashed for a WHIM by the dealership. My bike is flashed for an amp.
I am not affiliated with Brian I just ordered his product and it worked great and want to support a guy who is helping the community!

A 4th way to do it is to have the radio flashed to have the whim turned on. Had my 19RGS radio flashed to make it think the whim is on and my car play started working. Only thing is obviously there is not head set so when a call comes in or siri is talking you can't respond back which doesn't bother me cause I don't want to talk anyway lol. All other functions work perfectly. There's a youtube on how to do this.

That is no longer an option the mo-co removed the dealers ability to do it also be careful if you ever update your radio you may loose that functionality and to make this mod work you will have to get it flashed back to no whim

Well I’ve got a 18 StreetGlide and did the retrofit GTS and the dealer had to do some stuff. They said tech said they had to take te radio out and hook it up to a new and some other things. CarPlay doesn’t work even with the jumper so I’ve got a feeling I’m gonna have to find a audio shop that does the retro fit and get them to flash so it will unlock everything. Found a guy on RU-vid but I don’t want to send my unit to New Jersey. The only other place is Soundz in Daytona I my have to give them a call.

Have a 14 ultra limited and a 20 road glide limited, yes the system is better than the previous version but doesn’t hold a candle to the 21 Indian I just test drove, harley is still in the dark ages the 20 is going down the road shortly

I test rode a challenger at bike week and while yeah the bike was decent it suffered the same issues I have seen on almost every other Indian touring bike I have ever rode or looked at. Fit and finish. In the case of this one the gauge bezel was about to fall off and the bike barely had any miles on it. I have also seen them with less than 1k miles and have chrome peeling or from the factory with paint that has more orange peel than a maaco paint job. So while yes they have some perks I still am not willing to purchase the imitation over the real thing.

It’s great. Having waze and google maps access with out spending the $$$ on the Harley setup that I’ll never use.

hey, i'm driving an RG CVO 2020, it has automatticly the whim in it, i deactivated and uninstalled it, because i wanted to use the jumper for carplay, but i can't find the plug for the jumper and anyone help me ???

Quick question, I have got the 21 CVO RG. The Sena comes with the bike but we already have Cardo packtalk slims fitted to the helmets we use. Because the bike has a WHIM does the plug in you do work with this? I have the 30K Sena on a different helmet and it struggles to get CarPlay on it. It drops out all the time

No this does not give any kind of Bluetooth function it just tricks the bike into thinking a headset is connected. It also won’t work with a whim. I just connect my phone straight to my cardo when using my helmet coms.

Harley has a flash now for 60 bucks. No Wim plug needed. They flash it and it tricks it

Some dealerships would do it others wouldn’t. I was under the impression that the mo-co made them all stop and a update could make it not work. Plus this is a $25 plug vs a $60 flash.

@@kyle8061 not every dealer will because they want the wim sale. My local dealer will do it for 60 out the door which is just the half hour minimum for labor

@@Track3r heck yeah I get the money save but it’s also 60 bucks to not have to rip the fairing off to install and if you have to get warranty work done lol! Each to their own for sure and nice bike dude. I love my shark nose as well 🤙🏼

Glad to hear. It’s great having the added functionality. Wish Apple and the moco would have enabled by default but this is an acceptable solution

How would one go about answering a call? Would it be possible to answer from phone while linked to bike?

First of all, great video. Secondly, I have a 2019 Ultra limited and I just bought the Cardo Black wireless head set for my trip to Sturgis. Without the WHIM or this 25.00 plug I will NOT be able to access my Boom box.Correct? I will be able to access my phone for directions and phone calls but it just won't go through the Boom. Correct? The plug in will enable me to access everything through the Harley System. Sorry if these are stupid questions. Thanks in advance

The cardo will not connect to the Harley system properly ever. Harley has a lock down on it. Connect the cardo to your phone you should be good tho.

will this stream bluetooth music in stereo or mono? I know if you use anything but a HD branded Sena it will only be mono.

It shouldn’t because all it is doing is imitating a wired headset being plugged in.

It should if you tap the icon in the corner of the screen not the home button. It’s the one that looks like a grid

Your radio doesn’t have car play or android auto functionality. You would have to get a used gts off a 19 or 20 bike or a Sony double din.

Only bikes equipped with the boom gts (smooth buttons) not the gt (rubber buttons) and I believe they come on the 19-21 year bikes.

You should be able to get the latest update off of the Harley website. This basically tricks the system into thinking you have a wired headset installed.

Short of either getting a Bluetooth headset and pairing it directly with your phone there is not really an option at this time. I am working on something but it’s in the planning stages now and may never work
