What I started off with is no longer available but it would be the about the same as Carrera 30011 GT Race Battle, Digital 132 Set w/Lights that's now available. Buying a set gives you the Control Unit, 2 Cars, 2 controllers, 1 lane changer, some track and power supply. It's the cheapest way to get up and running vs buying it all separately. I designed the track (much like the one in this video) I wanted to build and got a parts list of everything I needed. I ordered all of it at one time from several different online dealers. No one had everything in stock so I had to order from different ones to get everything I needed. It was very expensive getting everything at one time, I even replaced the Carrera controller with Ram-Jet, a better power supply, lots of lane changers, shoulders for around the entire track, different guardrails, 2 pit lanes, etc. The original set didn't go very far to build the track I have but it helped get me started. Hope that helps.
