soo, we can probably say that the piemonte and Lauria AA buffs are more of a negative, to me it seems that having short range AA could be good P.S. my Regolo now will have less range than the midway, MF are lost

WG devs are so dumb. Isn't this a lot of crap to think about? It looks like 80% of time thinking about how you deal with planes and 20% playing that game about warships. Add cancer submarines to the equation and you have a huge mess. "Instead of simplifying gameplay, we created such a mess that nobody will understand what's happening."

It was really silly for the player base to try to pressure WG into nerfing the battle influence of carriers by changing the spotting mechanics... I knew from the very beginning that WG would just use it as an excuse to overall make CVs stronger in terms of direct battle impact, carrier dpm is going to soar... WG want more carrier and sub players so they can justify the dev time spent on the unpopular classes, seriously what did people think was going to happen. Every time WG changes this type of mechanic it just makes things worse, they could just buff all long range ship AA by 20-30% or remove the plane heal and they would get a better outcome.

This whole article reads like this: "we wanted to improve gameplay surrounding carriers, but we did not want to do it the way the community has been asking us to for half a decade, so we turned their planes into overcomplicated, flying submarines and made almost every carrier a (very tanky) light cruiser instead!"

Flamu forgot that WG told players who asked for tips against CVs to "just group up" and then literally 3 months later WeeGee went and nerfed group AA of 3 ships or more

It's interesting to wonder how WOWS might have developed if the rework never happened. CV's were still absurdly OP, but also had a high skill floor. The combination meant that we rarely saw carriers in matches, but when we did, they were either useless or devastating. That made AA builds harder to justify, since they would only be useful on rare occasions, but still potent when required. These were serious issues at the time. We didn't know how good we had it.

I dont remember a time where CVs were rare. But I remember when AA was capable of something. Better time it was, indeed. Game was frustrating, but not infuriating. 😅 From the beginning, WG balanced their game from noobs feedback. Mindblowing virgin studio.

So let me get this straight. Planes now can just fly in travel mode while having complete immunity to damage then dip down to attack mode on a ship spotted by the team while taking almost zero damage because in WG wisdom they give it reduce AA damage then go back to travel mode. Isn't this just a shotgun but for planes? On current iteration atleast the whole squadron get damaged when attacking but this...

Why not give carriers a Star Trek teleporter so planes can just appear wherever and teleport back? It would be less over-engineered than what we're hearing in this dev blog.

The manual secondary for CVs will give E. Loewenhardt's (Graf Zeppelins sistership) secondary battery a Massive Buff to her SIXTEEN 150mm guns, since direct control fire will be MUCH more Accurate then the normal German secondary Dispersion the ships AI currently uses. A Graf Zeppelin at tier 6 that can Control a 150mm battery equal to a Schlieffen and actually have the Accuracy to hit enemy ships consistency will make it a low tier TERROR for DDs.

@@tommyg5568 Yes an No The CV had a heavy Impact on the game until it was deplaned, and if you had a good CV player you generally won the game. They were over powered for the game at the time but had a limit based on the quality of the player. Now they are over powered and there is not much you can do about it, not even deplane them.

I enjoy RTS carries too. I play coop and RTS CVs were a blast to play. Now, my CVs are just port queens until when I need a mission/directive done or for Christmas/anniversary crates.

@@tommyg5568yeah a good cv player in those days was basically a god. Thing was though, there was genuine counterplay to CVs, surface ships could bundle up and strong AA ships like American cruisers and the CV could become completely useless if they messed up and lost their planes. So it was a situation where the CV player was incentivized to either get good or get out of the class. There was a least a begrudging respect for a decent RTS CV because they dominated the matches, and it was genuinely cool watching two good cv players try and outsmart each other with fighter attack runs and CV snipes

Peak WoWs gameplay is apparently spotting enemies + open water gunboating with Midway that has more range than some of my cruisers + dunking on them after baiting them to pop defensive aa fire

So essentially they are planning on turning CV planes into “sovereign citizens.” The planes don’t have to follow any of the laws that the rest of the surface ships do while they are in “traveling” mode unless they are intercepted by a “road pirate” with a fighter. 11/10 WG

I have never seen a game developer with such an adverse reaction to actually listening to it’s playerbase as WG. It’s almost like they believe listening to the community would just outright kill them. Probably the only ‘benefit’ this would have done is driven cv players to lesta until they figure out the rework isn’t actually nerfing cvs.

That was done to help the bad players that couldn't be bothered to look up and see where the plane squadron is or if it decends to attack. Edit: oh and almost forgot, how they made the tiny tim dispersion worse because that's what this game needs: RNG to bridge the gap between a skilled player and a bad player getting lucky.

At this point I'm expecting a single CV to be able to solo an entire enemy team. It out DPS, armor, and health gun boat DDs, if you don't sail in a straight line or just sail away, torpedo boats are almost useless, cruisers can get annihilated if the CV has AP ordnance, BBs can't dodge shit, and subs face the most effective ASW in the game. It hard counters everything.

Additionally they should make the carriers themselves more vulnerable. Even if you spot one it takes too many hits to frag it. Give them a more vulnerable citadel or something.

I mean historically carriers were extremely vulnerable due to the fact that their hangers, when aircraft were armed and fueled, where massive bombs. Carriers have tons of avgas and bombs onboard, they should be extremely vulnerable.

Or atleast a nerf in mobility and max speed. When I am in my DDs (especially lower tiers) the carriers sometimes outrun me, because I need to dogde their shit, while they have the same or a higher top speed than me. If they now can also simply shoot me with secondaries before I can shoot or torp them, it gets even more stupid.

Also if you hope to get Enterprise or Musashi from the PTS event, you're likely competing against botters who'll have like 100 accounts running just to be able to sell an account with those ships, especially Enterprise

RTS carriers, with minimap spotting and pre-rework AA guns (good range, actual damage etc.)... *_plus_* the manual secondary control. that 'n' give secondary control to every other ship that _has_ secondary batteries to control. maybe this'll make me pay for a graf zeppelin B.

I'm gonna sound a bit weird here... but honestly the RTS system should've been kept. Yes it was blatantly OP. But Carriers had some semblance of risk when launching strikes. If they misjudged a strike, strayed into defensive fire of an AA Cruiser, their squadrons could and would be ripped apart. And of course you had limited numbers of planes. Now it doesn't matter how many aircraft you lose, since you can print new ones instead

All they needed to do with RTS carriers was reinstate the fuel limit they initially had in the beta. That way, it would have made it significantly harder for the carriers to target and harass single ships.

Meanwhile on the console version of the game planes of any kind only get mini map spotting, carriers have a fuel gauge that limits the range the planes can fly and they don’t get any kind of rockets. At the beginning of our rework the offensive capabilities of our carriers were way over tuned but they were quickly and repeatedly nerfed into a much more reasonable place.

Question - If a CV shoot manually with his Secondaries at 15km, what about the concealment? Because, if I remember well, Secondaries don't affect the concealment. If it's the case, meaning that CV could shot nearly 2 times stronger and further than a average DD while staying hidden AND Kiting ? Imagine to be in a DD out of range within 15 km from it while being permanently spotted by the CV airplanes ... Imagine in a Richthofen (Basic conceal 13.58 reduce to 12.22km with basic dpm of 257.000 normally at 6.8 km than now do it at 15km AND traveling at 32knots (so as fast as the DD) ... That makes no sense ...

Yep. The initiative will be with the CV even more than it is now. You can choose to try and pre-empt but you risk using up precious consumables, all just to make the CV abort an attack, only to return after your consumable runs out. They can't be serious. Oh wait...

That pre-emptive defensive AA sounds like radaring subs. They spot you, you radar them, they go underwater, your radar runs out, they spot and kill you

So, let me see if I have this right. Sky Subs for aircraft, which can pop in and out of complete immunity at will, can drop on enemies with near immunity, with increased maneuverability to better land ordinance, and then return to immunity. Most vulnerable aircraft remain immune at high altitudes. And CV players can now completely outgun most things that might get within range to sink them with main guns via manually controlled secondaries. All of this combined insanity rather than limiting aircraft to mini-map-only spotting. Recent decision to uninstall WG products is confirmed as completely rational.

What the range is for carriers, 15.6 seems to me more like a gun range. It makes sense to me that a ship spotting you at your concealment range should be targettable by your secondaries, to avoid people skirting along the edge of your "main battery" range. As opposed to your ASW coincidentally having the same range as your detectability... Overall a very demented rework. I miss RTS 😢

Yeah the hybrids were a pleasant surprise. They're still annoying but most people seem to be treating them as gimmicky BBs rather than CVs with guns.

All of these are buff to Russian CV because as Russian CV you don't normally spot since you want to dump your pay load as fast as possible because your plane is so squisy and slow you need to attack constantly and not hangout like an idiot. To other carrier? maybe not, but I would love to see how they balance Nakimov after this?

Wait... Since the New Def AA needs to be activated BEFORE the planes reach the extended range (7km)... What are the spotting ranges of planes? All a CV needs to do to neuter Def AA is come down within 7km of a ship and its worthless.... Edit: That's EXACTLY what they show in the video... He goes in for the attack at 4.6km.... This is not going to work for Surface Ships at all. Its a buff to CV's....

So you have to pop your consumable before they drop out of travel mode, but if they don't actually drop out the consumable does nothing because the planes are immune. But now it's on cooldown and you're down a charge.

Best fix they could do is bring back a hard max plane number, maybe have it in 2 stages to represent "ready aircraft" and "not prepared/needing repair". The ready would draw form your say 50 total planes, the not prepared would we the ones that returned, needing to be rearmed, and the damaged, would have additional cool down before being added to ready based on amount of damage on return. It could add 10% cool down for damage to the plane greater than 0, 25% for damage greater than 0 but less than 50%, and 50% for 50%-99%. Also they should probably give DFAA unlimited charges.

It would be good if you add fuel to planes (3 minutes, like when your CV is destroyed while you are flying) and Travel Mode uses 50% more fuel than attack or recon mode. This means that you would only have 3 minutes tops to fly and attack. That + minimap spotting would fix a lot of things.

@@infernosgaming8942I’ve played this game since the closed beta and have experience playing against and as RTS carriers. If your planes are getting ambushed by an AA ship that’s part of game. Maybe you should work with your team to spot and avoid support cruisers or other AA ships. If the enemy brought an Atlanta, and he went full AA, as I used to quite often to guard against carrier swarms, that was a part of the game you had to deal with, just like if somebody went off on their own and got nuked out of the fucking water by a six squadron strike that was also something he had to deal with. If he had stuck with his team or at least had a friend to help escort, maybe he lives

This is how I’ll rework the CV. +Minimap Spotting -Faster Aircraft Service based on the number of Elevators. -New CV Damae Module, Elevator. Damaging this will postpone CV replenish aircrafts until the Elevator is back online again. Elevator can be permanently destroyed. -Fuel Based System with Overheat engine. The more you use the engine boost the quicker the fuel drains. -Pressing return back will cause a 60s cooldown on that aircrafts squadrons. -Fuel Leak, if aircrafts are in burning phase from the AA fire, you only have 30seconds of that aircraft to stay in the air until you lose that aircraft. AA/Secondary Rework All Secondaries will now have the same range as respective Ships based on Gun Caliber. For example, 155mm secondary from Musashi will have the same range as Mogami. German will have the same secondary range because tradition of WG hating Germans. All Secondaries that are historically being Dual Purpose can attack aircrafts. By pressing P. Each barrel = each flak. Some ships that have Dual Purpose as a main gun can use as AA guns. For example, San Diego have 127mm Dual Purpose guns. She will use all of that guns as an AA guns. All IJN BBs have the same ability as Sandy, but ammunition will be Type 3 shells which do lows damage but will affect entire squadrons to get critical damage. (burn phase). All secondaries/Main Gun that does dual purpose have reduced reloading time by 50% to respective ships. While in AA Mode Secondaries/Main Gun that are dual purposes cannot target surface ships. Due to this CVs rework. We decided to increase flooding chance for Torpedo Bombers. IJN Ships Repair Party rework All IJN Ships will have Nokotan Repair Party instead of regular ones. These are the opposite of regular repair party. This will repair ships reguardless of any damage takes. But it will heal lower than regular repair party. It carry one more charge. (Means with cap. Being 6) This heal will heal any damages it took. Even from Citadel and Torpedo Damages. While on repair, IJN BBs having this heal acting like DCP as well. Immune to fire and flooding while repair is active. After Repair Party being used. IJN Battleships will fire Nokotan Shells. Causing 10000% detonation chances upon impact. This is to improve IJN ships performance. (The last two paragraphs are a joke btw)

So CVs get the best manual gunnery in the game, no cooldown unlimited use AA immunity, unlimited max speed, and don't actually lose spotting ability (they just have to decide they want to spot).

Im pretty sure the test client has the same size in order to prevent any missing assets from causing issues. Considering that the TST server isnt used often (st & cst also use different servers most of the time), it's likey just too time consuming to figure out which assets may be removed without causing the game to stop functioning properly. Additionally having all assets in place also allows for players to report issues caused by new and existing UI-elements/mechanics interacting with eachother inproperly. I highly, highly doubt that they do it to limit the amount of players testing things. (WT also requires you to download the entire client for the dev server)

My gaming experience spans about 1.5 years now. I can say that this game is actually already so complicated that there are still some things that I have not encountered earlier. During this period, there have been so many new ships just as example, that it becomes impossible to manage them and know just their characteristics, which you need to know if you want to play the game. But now with these new CV plans, I cannot understand why they have to make everything so complicated. This is one aspect that is actually raising the bar for new players to enter this game. That's why I think the player base decrease will become exponential as new players will only stay with the game for a couple of months instead of years.

I can summarize the devblog in a single sentence: The beatings will continue until morale improves. If players complain about current state of the game, WG makes the game worse, justifying it as making changes that the players wanted (even if the players didn’t know that they wanted them). WG keeps “listening to player feedback” and making changes until the players are “happy” with the results (as no one is complaining anymore).

So right now carriers are basically guaranteed to get one strike off but most of the reserve squadron will get shot down so a second strike will be less effective and most just do single strikes. With this change carriers will get 2 or 3 full strikes. Using the planes with the most HP makes no sense. If the panes already used their payload how are they refilling their payload mid-flight? This is really dumb. All they had to do was minimap spotting for squadrons and give them a consumable that lets them leave the squadron in an area instead of returning that allows the squadron to surface spot, if the squadron does not get shot down it returns after the consumable timer expires otherwise it is just sacrificing a squadron to spot a specific area of the map. That way they have a limited charge of surface spotting that also has them make the decision "Is it more valuable to use this squad to surface spot or do I need to recall them to get get another strike going?" Oh would you look at that, a solution that has them juggle resources, requires a degree of skill/knowledge thus increases engagement while also lessening the continuous spotting power of carriers without completely removing their ability to surface spot with planes. It took me literally a minute to come up with that.

I feel like defenisive AA should: -effect the time a squadron has to make an attack (The timer before the attack is aborted) -make the attack more inaccurate by increasing the time until max accuracy and having the overall max accuracy worse (wider spread for torpedos, more dispersion on bombs) -increase in damage the closer they get so torpedo bombers cant drop right next to you without taking alot of damage. on top of the new changes too. I dont play WOWS alot so i dont know what would be good but i play a balance of CV and surface and i think this would be a decent change to make the consumable useful, as whenever i use it, it just feels lackluster and it seems everyone feels the same.

You're talking about inverse sub, but there's another game that took this concept much earlier than the WoWs itself. Daisenryaku series, turn based strategy game. There have even 5 flying levels on one of their game. 3 on most series. Low Med High. It is like you cannot be targeted by MANPADS or AAA when flying at Medium and High. There are SAMs excel on Low Medium altitude but has terrible range at high. Such as the Rapier. Also SAMs that only good at high, but decreased range on Medium and absolutely cannot target low altitude. Such as the Patriot or S300. Airplanes carrying AAM can only target another plane at max 2 levels of difference. It doesn't matter at most of the game, only that one with 5 tiers of level. Launching the Missile at higher altitude grants longer firing range. There also Helicopters carrying AAMs, they could only travel up to low altitude. A few can up to medium, like the Osprey, but it doesn't carry weapons. If WG thinking the actual reverse sub, there is something missing in the equation. Sub is the body itself. Losing the sub losing the game. CV? Losing the planes, back to CV gunboating. Thanks to the new mechanic. Me thinking, actually CV could be fun played that way even without the planes. LMAO. One thing about this rework I don't understand, what is the difference between recon and attack mode? Didn't attack mode basically do the recon mode did? And they don't have timer? The manual Secondaries are baffling. 17km? Jesus, rocket propelled shells?

i remember my DM back then having a AA rating of 95, after the "rework" it went down to 65, now its most likely 35 or something just give those darn planes flight time limits and fuel limits, so the CV can no longer stay in the back

Do you remember the good old times, when you saw an Atlanta, DM or even Gneisenau on your team and you knew that there is gonna be a plane free zone next to them? I deplaned so many CVs in T6 ranked with my full AA BAYERN back in the day, you know, when CVs could be punished if they didnt pay attention to such things and you could buff AA this much. My faith in WG and any future CV balance ended when Graf Zepplin came out and 1 hit every T6-T9 and even some T10 BBs.

I remember so many AA nerfs over the years, one memorial one for me was I unlocked the Benham in that scrap event, I played her and she was so op, I then had a game with a tier 8 kaga attacking me all game and I mean all game and I shot down 67 planes, nowadays the same situation I would be lucky to shoot down 5 to 10 at the very best.......I am the same for this game just give us Air spotting only on the mini map and its solved, or maybe change the AA for all ships if you fully build your worcester or mino or Gouden leuw then it will be virtually impossible to attack that ship due to commander and ships skill all set to max AA, if you build a ship like that now you may shoot down half of the squadron.

I dont understand why planes need immunity at all. long range flak is specifically for hitting targets at high altitude. it would make more sense if only flak could hit in travel mode so if you sit in it too long the flak does a lot of burst damage in travel mode

Fun Fact , In the Update, they never mentioned Fighters , so it can be , you can spot with your fighters (exceptional Essex) ,while in travel mode . BIG BRAIN WG XD

Man, I just want to go back to the time when you could ctrl+click on a squadron and just....do more damage to it. Back when DM could have like a 8.4km AA range and CVs had to actually AVOID the AA ship.

So… you have 30s of recon mode, and can travel mode with impunity to where ships are expected to be. You can initiate attacks from recon mode. Literally nothing changed??? You just have to wait until you’re where enemies are expected to be using travel mode, drop down and use recon mode to spot exactly as cvs do currently; then just use the second set of 30s and you have an entire minute of spotting. How is this any better than the current iteration?

giving minimap spotting opens a dangerous precedent for weegee: listening to community remember when panam players proposed entire tech tree of real steel ships, with correctly named ships and all to be thrown out of window so we could get "would be-could be" tech tree also the yukon fiasco, and before that ... and also ... no weegee cannot do as playerbase suggests

WG console devs gave CVs minimap spotting only, but they buffed them so hard it was impossible to run out of planes and people were setting 400k damage records on day 1. They've dialed the damage back a bit, but AA is still useless.

I run out of planes constantly. When u only have 1 or 2 on deck, you basically have no chance to get an attack run. I get decent damage and kills, but planes are gone by the 15 minute mark.
