This was such a great film. I remember seeing it at my local arthouse cinema when it first came out, then countless times on DVD. Great script, acting, cinematography, music, everything.

Samuel West had a VERY MINOR role, but he was good (and cute).

An outstanding film.

Outstanding performance by Pryce and all supporting actors. It's ultimately let down by Thompson, who doesn't really have the chops at this level. A younger Vanessa Redgrave - see Mrs Dalloway - or any other truly professional actress - could have concealed the implied idiocy with far greater skill. As things stand, Emma often looks like she's still in a Footlights skit.

They really glossed over some of the more disturbing aspects of this group they were part of.
