So, this is my guess at what is going on here and if I'm correct this is really great. Determining the sex of hens being raised for egg laying has always been an issue, If I understand it, they are hatched, grow a little then highly trained people then look at each one(!$$) and put them in two categories. Female, they go on to lay eggs for there whole life, male they go into the blender or electric killer thingy. (I once hoped that maybe the males could be used for food, but as these chickens are genetically designed/bred for laying, they aren't great for that.) I'm going to assume this system now allows us to determine sex before the egg is even hatched, I cant say how developed the chick needs to be for this to work but surely this is more ethical and (the reason it exists) more efficient. The fluid removed will help them determine gender and eggs identified as male may be deleted, for want of a better word.
