I remember I was 7 years old when Steve Irwin died and I cried so hard he was almost like a best friend through the tv. I remember at that time bindi had some sort of kids clubhouse show which was also my favorite! Crazy to think now 15ish yrs later still love to watch them on tv.
I love and admire these people! Steve was not your typical person. Bigger than life, he was astounding and a true lover of our world. I miss him everyday. They carry on in true Irwin mode!!
Beautiful family. We all miss Steve. I cleaned a room that they stayed in and the way the pillows were arranged in the bed made me cry my eyes out. Love you all.❤️
What a lovely family! They all have the same goal, let’s help preserve Nature & teach everyone the importance of a healthy balanced Animal Kingdom. So refreshing to see strong family values & No Drama. Warrior Grace we are looking forward to watching you grow up & the contributions you will be making for the animals. Terry, my dear job well done!
I read a book years ago (before the dog ate it) on Steve's early life, him meeting Terri and her early life and Bindi coming into the world. Steve's passion for conservation was infectious, he loved animals. His passion has been a driving factor for me to help clean up the world's largest inland estuary, the Chesapeake Bay! 15 years ago the world lost a treasure, but now 15 years later Steve's spirit, his passion, his legacy lives on!
I have two perfectly clear memories of Steve Irwin. The first is the first time I saw him on TV. I was around 10 sitting on my grandmothers chair, she was making lunch and this new show called crocodile hunter started playing. I was hooked! The second is when I heard of his death. I was a sophomore in college studying animal science (I wanted to be a zookeeper). His death was a stop everything moment at a school focused on animal science and behavior. I also remember feeling a wave of responsibility hit. Now that Steve was gone, it was even more important for those of us he inspired to carry on his passion and mission. He was and still is my hero.
thank you for sharing this story. i love the last two sentences that you wrote. and it's so awesome that you followed a career in animal science...so many years after watching Steve on TV. Keep up the incredible work you are doing for this earth friend!
What an amazing family still doing doing wonderful things today. I hope y'all will have the very best of luck and that everyone will continue to support your efforts. Thankyou for reading this peeps and always remember to stay humble and kind. 😊😊❤❤
From the title piece of my book, The Grieving Heart, about Loss,, Hope and Living, this passage came to mind upon watching this touching segment. “The grieving heart knows no bounds to its creativity. It will put into words, pictures, paintings, songs, sculptures and dance - whatever it takes to remember their loved ones” I have no doubt that Steve is loving the expanses to the family business. In fact I might need to revise the piece to include running a zoo 💕
It's such a tragedy that Steve was taken from us so soon. Think about how much of an incredible ambassador and spokesperson Steve would have been for animals and the environment...especially in such troubled times these days i'm just thankful his children are carrying on his legacy
All zoo environments, particularly here in the states & older city zoos all around the world really need to be, (at least), tripled in size. But the work that this family does for wildlife conservation/ assisting animals in need of surgery is admirable.
i feel very conflicted about zoos b/c you are 100% right. while i love visiting them, i can't help but wonder how many of them are aging quite a bit, are super understaffed, and i am concerned about the welfare of these animals. even though i don't think zookeepers are cruel or mean-spirited, i just wonder how much you can do to help animals who aren't meant to live in urban environments but at the same time, when I travel to cities I always go to zoos and see a myriad of younger kids on tours, or avidly reading about all the animals and our environment. I have hope that this inspires the next generation to love and appreciate nature in ways that my generation and others before me failed to do so i'll leave with one quick story. I went to the Pittsburgh Zoo many years ago now. There was a polar bear there that looked sad and ragged, possibly due to the rough weather (it was hot and humid). However, I was inspired b/c there were many young kids who were looking at the polar bear and reading about how to take care of them. One of them said, "When i grow up, i want to take care of polar bears and keep them safe." That makes me hopeful
I already loved animals before I was introduced to Steve’s magnetism through the Animal Planet’s productions, but he and his family inspire me to do more every day…thank you!
The point here is that billions of animals died in Australia recently and all people can talk about, in the comments, is how much they like or hate these people. I mean they are doing the best they can to help these poor struggling animals. What are you doing to make the world a better place? Maybe you don't like them because you don't believe you could achieve as much as they have but I am here to tell you that any bit of action and compassion helps. Stop cutting people down and start looking around for what you can actually do instead of commenting mean stuff on the internet.
I was 15 when this happened. About a month later Terri did an interview on 20/20 with diane sawyer. I was doing a school project at the time and past my bedtime, but my mom let me stay up to watch it. 5 years ago I did a drawing of him and posted it on deviantart.
I totally love the Irwin family and what they do for wildlife conservation. I was totally heartbroken when Steve Irwin passed. Blessing and protection for the Irwin family and all the staff at the Australian Zoo as they continue the legacy of Steve Irwin. Animals are at the mercy of the world. So many has already gone extinct due to human's heartless actions towards wildlife. The Irwin family and other wildlife conservationists work tirelessly to make sure the wildlife now is still around for future generations.
@@ssoma151 Please do not reply if you know nothing what you are talking about. It looks like from vast majority of comments you stand alone in your negative, baseless, ignorant comment.
I always forget that Terri is American. I never notice that she doesn't have the same accent as Bindi and Robert. Bindi really is follwing in her dad's footsteps with marrying an American. lol
Poor Robert he's gonna have to find a girl as cool and unafraid of mud as Chandler and wholesome like Terri...and let's face it, girls like that today are *endangered species*
They're even more enjoyable to watch than their dad was because they DON'T have "shtick". They're just doing what they love. And of course being preposterously attractive with amazingly great teeth doesn't hurt either. :-)
September is the hardest month of the year for me 9-4 Steve’s death 9-7 My moms death AND my sisters birthday, she died on my sisters birthday 9-11 worlds gravest Terrorist attack committed against my country and in the world
Am I the only one that thinks Mindy and her husband look exactly alike? I see it more and more how people tend to couple with people that look like themselves. I guess people are attracted to themselves
Who gets the benefits of all their conservation work? Steve's estimated net worth at time of death was around $20 million. Current family net worth is around $90 million...but they're all about the animals
The "legacy" of Steve Irwin is "over-hyping" nature encounters and taking unnecessary high risk to create a TV "persona". Ultimately he paid a steep price for that approach and inspired a lot of copycat folks.
Once an hour they say "conservation!" but the rest is all cutesy scripted reality TV, watching Bindi say "hi" to workers and occasionally feeding a baby animal. Too painful to watch unless you enjoy badly scripted sappy reality tv. So many negative reviews on their zoo for being more of a weird monument to Steve than a serious conservation and wildlife protection organization. Lots of complaints by workers for being treated badly too.
I hated this guy, he abused animals for money, he could not just film them he had to jump on them grab them chock them tease them. And he got it back right in the heart. That sting ray hit the right spot!
@2:23 let’s get the facts right, “continuing what her grandfather started,” Steve was 8 when his parents started the zoo and it was given to him and Terri as a wedding gift. These conservationists live in mansions while animals are still going extinct though. 🤔🤔🤔
I personally would be happy if I never heard the name steve irwin again. ever since his untimely death I feel like Ive had his memory shoved down my throat. this family has been really hustling to bring in the bucks for their zoo ever since. how can we miss you when you won't go away? if i was going to donate money anyplace it would be a zoo local to me that is struggling. (Oregon Zoo)
You need to expand your interests. It's a shame you are so imbittered. All zoos and wildlife advocates are so important. They will always bring joy to children and adults who love animals and want to do everything possible to ensure there continued existence. I don't financially support the Zoo of Australia but I do offer my support to them and all the other zoos and those that work every day to make sure they will always exist.
@@petemichael4512 Good answer Pete. Too many animals have already gone extinct. I support zoos especially when the animals have space to roam and made to look like their habitat. I do not agree with zoos where animals are in cages. All wildlife conservationists who work tirelessly, yes, are so important to assure the wildlife today will always exist for future generations to come.
@@marilynr.1036 I wish that I could take you to the Cincinnati Zoo and show you what's going on there. It is in a constant process of becoming better and exactly what the animals need. When our baby Hippo, Fiona, was born prematurely and weighed 40 lbs, she was around the clock nursed and nurtured by the capable and caring staff into the healthy 1000 lbs she is today. Check her out on RU-vid. It's quite a story.
@Trinacria Nelcuore He's like a children's TV host, so I suppose he is likeable to children. So you STFU, child! He isn't likeable to me, that's why I commented my opinion, you uppity, loser
Why does this family constantly take vacations on one of their many privately owned properties? They live and "work" in a zoo. Their lives are already a constant vacation.
