Ok i think the singing is perfect cause it supposed to be a bunch of kids. They are not supposed to sing perfect. This seems more natural.

This is one of the toughest, ergo rarest musicals to put on at a high school, because you need at least 12 VERY strong male dancers. When you see a HS production of newsies, take a closer look at any 'boy' wearing a hat!

i honestly don't get why this movie is very underrated and got so much negative reviews

3:03 I searched for this version specifically so I can listen to the sweet voice of whatever woman sings here. I might not be a particularly faithful man but I believe a miracle happened to give her that voice.

All of the original harmonies that were removed for the Broadway version are here. Its so much better.

The worst part of the Broadway version is that they took out Patrick's mom's solo.

I've always wondered about the woman singing about her son Patrick at the Nun scene. I don't remember hearing about a Patrick anywhere else in the movie and the mother is also never seen again...

Omg we're watching this in my chorus class and the minute I heard this song I automatically loved it. We still haven't finished it but I really like the movie a lot. My friend kept whistling every time they did a pelvic thrust. 😂

One of my favorite movies and musicals!!!

I used to love the Broadway version, but after seeing the movie a few times, I realized that I love the movie WAYYY better. Notice how in the movie, the newsies are kids and teens, like how they were in the actual 1899 newsboy strike. But on Broadway, they’re played by young men, AKA adults. That’s one thing about the Broadway version that annoys me. The movie feels way more accurate to me and way more real.

Are just gonna ignore how amazing of a voice the kid who said "for a buck I might." has

1:43 to 1:56 was cut in the movie that I had which was pretty disappointing ;c

This musical is my all-time FAVORITE one...The choreography is really good, and the music is so uplifting that it just makes you want to get up and start dancing!!

I'm 32 yet I knew this film from a very very young age thanks to my mum. When I knew it it was not as big as it is now. Same with Les misarables, Martin gyre and so many more.

I wonder if the bit with the lost mother was originally going to have a larger part in the movie? It's such a pretty interlude but so short!

Can someone please explain to me - the lady that sings after the nuns, is she a mother whose son ran away? I don’t understand why she’s singing what she’s singing, especially since I always thought she was / mistook her for a nun..

I was 9 years old when this movie came out and this song was ALWAYS my favorite in the movie. It boggles my mind how these boys were able to sing so damn fast halfway through the song. I was trying to follow along with the lyrics just now and my brain could not catch up. lol

When you see the movie and its amazing so you thing the musical on Broadway will also be really good but then you watch it and it isn't even remotely what you think.
