Cars 2 is WAY DUMBER than we thought...

The whole reason they did a spy movie for Cars 2 is that Cars 1 had originally a scene of Lightning and Sally going to a drive-in movie to see a spy movie, they even wrote a little script for this movie, and then Lightning would fall in love with her, but they change it for the romantic drive on the mountains and waterfall and kept the spy movie script to use in Cars 2, eventually it evolve to be the whole of Cars 2

Cars 1: racing Cars 2: mater is somehow a spy and preventing race Cars from being killed and stopping lemons from hurting others. Cars 3: back to racing as if nothing happened in the last movie

This movie deadass has one of the highest kill counts in any animated movie

What I find funny is that Cars 2 is the one that makes you question the reality of this world as opposed to the other two. Like this movie is the one with a Car Pope meaning there’s Car Jesus who died on a cross, has Pistachio Ice Cream meaning there’s cows, has human bathroom stalls and sinks, apparently dinosaurs were a thing, boats and planes are a thing so people go inside people, there’s beer and cocktails, WWII and 9/11 were apparently a thing along with racism, and Queen Elizabeth, implying monarchy in the cars world. It’s absolutely insane how this movie just abandons any sense of logic the 1st & 3rd Movie had.

Cars 1 was about a young, hotshot racer learning to slow down and appreciate the humble things in life. Cars 3 was about the same racer coming to terms that he’s aging and taking someone else under his wing to mentor. Cars 2 is about Mater being a spy for some reason.

As an avid racist, i just love the cars franchise.

The Cars trilogy feels like the game where people sit in a circle and one person starts telling a story. Then the second person tells a completely different story to the one the first person told, then the third person tells a story similar to the first person’s.

Mater has more game than any of us and he bearly even tried. Also car ww2 and car holocaust is basically canonized her but everyone gets stuck on the car pope. Car Hitler was a Wolkswagen.

Cars 2 may as well have been Mater's Tall Tales: The Movie. You've got Mater being roped into a secret spy mission, Lightning was there too, even if he only really finds out about everything near the end, and the ending has Mater telling the rest of Radiator Springs about it, with them not believing him until Holley shows up at the end. It hits all the beats of that little spinoff.

Fun Fact: Leland Turbo was (the red spy at the beginning of the movie that got cubed) originally gonna have his death on screen! There was a concept animation for it you can find online! It was scrapped for being too violent since you could see him getting crushed as it fades to black in a first person view

There’s a deleted opening scene of Finns spy partner getting crushed in a car crusher it’s pretty dark so they changed it

I actually met Floyd Sherr, the voice of Fillmore and Professor Z's ship in this movie, online and he said he got the part because John Lasseter was a huge fan of a docuseries called Modern Marvels, which Mr. Sherr narrated, and he would put it on every morning while he worked out on the treadmill. I like this movie personally, and I'm glad I grew up with this and Cars 1. Good movie, mid sequel

I understand why people don’t like cars 2 but I also find it fun. People are always like, why would they ever make a spy movie and I’m confused why in the infinite realm of animation a spy movie in this cars setting is so bad? I find it much more interesting than just focusing on race cars all the time. Plus I mean, other Pixar movies go in so many different directions. If your main criticism is that the movie is boring then I must have a better attention span I guess… It’s the same reason people who hate The Lord of the Rings hate it and yet, those 3 movies are cinematic masterpieces.
