Nice to see some more love for Cars. I feel the first film gets far too much hate nowadays. I understand the negative reaction to Cars 2 but I still consider that film a guilty pleasure. Cars 3 was great. A worthy sequel to the first movie.
Whovian Roxas People don't like Cars because it's just not very special. Plane-I mean plain and simple. The story is generic: famous guy who thinks he's all that realises he ain't and appreciates friendship and stuff. The characters are pretty uninteresting ,visually with them just being Cars and personality wise. You can tell by these things that Cars' only purpose is to sell toys. It's not just Pixar's sport movie, it's Pixar's genetic sport movie. You can love it all you want, but that's why is generally disliked
Well, to each their own I suppose. But I think there's this odd pattern where whenever Pixar releases a movie that's not AMAZING, people completely tear it apart. Cars, Brave, Monsters University, The Good Dinosaur. None among the Pixar greats but I feel people give far too much hate for their own good. Of course we're all entitled to like or dislike whatever we wish. I just feel that Pixar films that exist within the "just good" spectrum get a much rougher beatdown than what's necessary.

I agree. I can understand the reaction to Cars 2 but I never understood the hate that the first film gets. And it seems like the hate only started right around the time Cars 2 came out. People seemed to like Cars fine but then the first sequel and the Planes spin-offs happened and everything just went crazy.
Feels nice to see that not only you enjoyed Cars 3 but that you also hold a strong like for Cars. I feel kind of the same where I actually really prefer Cars over Incredibles too. Then people mostly predict that I don't like Incredibles even though I really like it, just not love it as much as Cars. I agree with you on McQueen as a character I find him very compelling and likeable but I guess that's a rare thing. I really enjoyed Cars 3 and it left a powerful impact on me. It just proves that Pixar can't satisfy everyone, but at least people should think for a while before calling something garbage. Producing a movie is not as easy as it may seem and therefore at least animators, voice actors, storyboards, art directors & producers should be praised for their work. The only ones that should do some homework would be writers if a movie is weak. However that's not the case for Cars 3 in my opinion. I felt the writing was very well written.
Actually after checking some more screenings, my opinion and overall view has changed drastically for this film. I used to really defend it but now it's way to clear to be ignored. It's filled with lazily written stereotypes for millennials, a super weak and bland villain, a shoe horned in-asshole that being Sterling. And it also completely ignores the kids that grew up with the first movie. That I mean Lightning McQueen is left in the dust by a complete new and in some cases annoying side character(Cruz) I can no longer defend this movie since I know it could have been so much better than what it turned out to be. Please, please Coco change my view over Pixar. I still love Finding Dory though.
I'd laugh if it turned out to be amazing. I doubt it though. On the other hand, many were skeptical about The Lego movie and it's generally considered to be awesome so... yeah. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, though my expectations are incredibly low.
While I wouldn't put Cars in the top of my list for pixar movies, I did enjoy it for what it was. I think the second movie just left a bad taste in everyone's mouths and ended up affecting the franchise as a whole, which is unfortunate for Cars 3.
I always thought it was a mid-tier Pixar movie. Which is still good considering Pixar standards. But even when Pixar slipped out some lower quality movies like Cars 2 or Good Dinosaur, Cars 1 would still be near the bottom of many lists. I guess it's because something had to take the lower spots.
Someone who admits they love Cars more than The Incredibles? FINALLY THANK YOU!!! (BTW no hate for the Incredibles I love that movie too and I'm super stoked for the Incredibles 2.) I don't really think you can even compare those movies they're very different
Like, it was definitely LACKING. Pacing could use some work, characters definitely needed better writers and the plot was pretty formulaic, but none of those are HUGE to me. As long as I'm entertained I'm fine.

I love Cars and I thought Cars 3 was done well. I left the movie theatre feeling satisfied and really happy. As far as Pixar movies go Cars was always in my top 3 behind Wall-E and Finding Nemo.
The Cars trilogy is one of my favorite animated films of all time. So underrated it hurts. The amount of worldbuilding and character development is surprising and definitely surpasses most of Pixar's other films. Love them to death and I'm glad someone else agrees out there.

I honestly like the first Cars a lot. Idk why. It just has a nice vibe and I like it. Of course the second one I don't like as much. But I don't hate it. I can't wait to see the third one though. It seems to be a big improvement from the second one and really should have been the true sequel.
Cars 3 for me was the best type of movie: the one that gave me pure unadulterated joy. Thinking about that last race when the 'thing happened..... dang it makes me grin so big thinking about it! and you don't even know how big my smile was when I saw it. It was my favorite of the year until spiderman, but is definitely in my top 3 pixar movies.
My mom got me into Nascar when I was very young and all my life I've been watching Dale Earnhardt Jr race. The fact that he was retiring at the end of this season hit me hard
I really, really enjoyed Cars 3. It was everything Cars 2 should have been, and to top it all off, the animation is *fantastic.* There were a couple times where I went "holy crap, that's gotta be actual footage." Great video!
So my lil brother has been OBSESSED with Cars 3 since the first trailer came out in....was it November? Although I was really excited up see it. I was so concerned it wasn't going to live up to the hype. But I loved it! There was so much more emotion in it then I realized!
Glad to see Chad got to see a movie he really enjoyed! Here's to hoping among the movies like Coco, My Little Pony: The Movie, Lego: Ninjago, or dare I say Despicable Me: 3 have some surprises and make this year a little better for him. As someone who enjoyed Lego: Batman to an extreme, the year hasn't been a total wash for me in terms of animated features, but I love this series of videos so much that I hope he gets to enjoy it as well ^^

I loved the first movie because it's really one of the first movies i remember going to the theaters for so when I went to the theaters for cars 2 i was sooooo disapointed being on how you basically destroyed the franchise and when this one came out and I went to go see it i was happy because this franchise basically picked it self up and turned cars 3 into an instant classic in my eyes
Lew always manages to have some opinions that stray from the pack, it seems. Like enjoying card more than the incredibles, or boss baby more than lego batman. I'm glad you're here to provide a different view, moat other people kinda just have the same views on animated movies
I saw part of the ending to it. Was going to go watch "Dead men tell no tales", but cars was still playing and saw apart of that before getting escorted out of the theater to wait 20 more minutes. Apparently it was special event, so that's why the times were different for the theater room
I really liked that Cars 3 was actually very emotional at some scenes especially at the end also its funny that you compared Cars 3 to Rocky 4 because my younger sister said the same thing 😂
I just gotta mention this: Since you mentioned Vin Diesel could have voiced a car in the movie, I would have loved to have seen a Cars remake of a Chevy Impala voiced by Dean Winchester's actor.
I feel like the first Cars is a movie that people that grew up with it and parents that have seen it enough to notice all the little jokes are the only ones that really appreciate it. Most of the critics just watch it once, write the review and never see it again. I think this movie and the first one were very well done. Not the best movies ever but well done. Cars 2 is terrible though I'm not denying that at all.
Probably my favorite part of Cars 3 was actually a subtle thing. The commercialization of McQueen and his distaste for it, saying that it's about the sport, not the product, was not only a good message, but I think it was Pixar taking a slight jab at Disney for Cars 2.
Cars 3 was definitely very cool and action packed. I also really enjoyed the demolition derby scene! The ending got me right in the feels, just like Disney/Pixar always does.
Cars holds a special place in my heart. (Mainly because I adore racing as a whole.) It's one of my favorite movies in the Pixar history, and Cars 3 looks amazing too. I'm really hoping I can see it some day to smile. Tis a shame the next worldwide movie is about Emojis. Where as Pixar is just lacking a bit in original ideas, Sony is just _desperate for anything._
I agree with you, nothing from the sequel was indeed referenced especially with Mator being knighted, Which I found weird as any one knighted use the title together with their name.
I don't even like sports movies that much, I thought Cars 3 would be crummy, and I didn't think I'd be into the race at the end, I'm so glad that the movie was actually enjoyable.
This is what I thought. I just saw the movie on Netflix, and about maybe half an hour into it, I was thinking "yes. THIS is what cars fans REALLY wanted". :03
Well, not surprised. I mean I guess I wish there was some criticism shown or talked about since the film isn't as perfect as you say....idk not a great review by any stretches, but hey, you enjoyed it and that's all that matters in the long run.
Though I do prefer the incredible over cars, cars still holds a high place in my heart! I loved both movies deeply as a kid! And they were some of the movies that got me interested in animation!
Here's one of MANY things about the Cars universe that doesn't make sense. We see celebrity cars doing merchandise deals, but here's my question..HOW would Cars even USE any of the merchandise? They don't have hands!
In my opinion, Cars 3 was a slight letdown. It was kind of anticlimactic. I think many of us we're excited for a possibly "darker" movie but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. By far the best animated film this year.
YES! ROCK DOG STILL AT NUMBER 5 BABY! E'RE NUMBER 5! WE'RE NUMBER 5! Rock Dog was still pretty bad though. I like a lot of the designs and I won't lie some of the characters could've come off as less wooden. But i dunno, I find Bodi to be such a naive and innocent character that it makes him kind of adorable for me. The movie I think has good elements, just that they're not put together well. It's kind of like having the best ingredients for a cake, but because the process of making the cake was done so poorly, that the cake became kind of generic and overly squishy.
I suppose you're right that Lightning McQueen is technically a "strong character", since he's learning and adapting through Cars 1 and 3. But after (finally) seeing Cars 3, I realized I don't care for Lightning at all. I enjoyed Cars 1 because I wanted him to learn that he was being a horrible person to the residents of Radiator Springs that I fell for, and he did! And once he did, he became.. a mild-mannered, innocent and utterly boring athlete. In Cars 3, it sounded like Owen Wilson was half-asleep while recording his lines. So yeah, I guess it is as you say, I'd probably enjoy this if I enjoyed sports movies. Because Cars 3 asks me to care about athletes and nothing else. It does look and sound good, though.
I wasn't real fond of the ending of Cars 3, it was basically a prequel telling about what happened with Doc, except it had McQueen and I forgot the girls name.

I know everyone hates Cars 2, but I actually liked it. Even though it didn't focus on Lightning, the action and humor really entertained me. However, Cars 3 is the best one hands down.
I had no interest in watching Cars 3 but then I found out that Lea DeLaria plays a demolition derby school bus called Miss Fritter and yeah now I want to watch it.
