In High School (mid 90’s) I had a rogue English teacher who just made his own booklists without any regard to what admin thought. The first book we read was Beloved and the second was Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. From there my brain was so pleased, yet so confused and so haven’t stopped reading since.

I love Jack! I’ve read 4 of Morrison books and I’m not sure if I’ll ever pick up another. I’ve set Possession aside but hope to finish it this year. The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is on my radar. I do enjoy Edith Wharton. I hope you enjoy all your reads. 📚📚📚👍

Clarice is so beautiful and tragic in her prose style, and virginia wolf is like a ghost I hear whisper in my soul.
@EveryoneWhoReadsitMustConverse
so true...you get a feel that every day is Judgement Day with Clarice, even every moment. I can't wait to read more Woolf, The Waves blew me away 🌊

Excellent choices, Noah! So glad you are doing this. I think Alan Moore's Jerusalem was mind blowing but also think the same for Leanne Betasamosake Simpson or Akwaeke Emezi or Alexis Wright. Thank you again. I appreciate your interest in women writers.

Check out 'Song of Solomon,' one of my very favorite novels. I'm not sure why! it wasn't that way when I first read it; I didn't even like it much, though felt I needed to someday re-read it. Well, when I did...I just fell in love with it. I know you will too. :)
@EveryoneWhoReadsitMustConverse
Thanks! It will be my next Morrison ❤️

Why did you swipe my copy of Miss Macintosh my Darling?!? Morrison and Woolf are two of my all-time favorite writers, and Lispector will be there once I’ve read more from her. Genji has been a blast, so I suspect these others will be equally fascinating. Cheers, Jack

Thanks brother! BookTube bros read MMmD? 😎 I need more Woolf and Morrison! All in good time. I didn't mention it in the video but, if reading is going very well, I may sneak The Besieged City by the end of the year as well

I personal enjoyed Ursula K. Le Quin over C. J. Cherryh. I'd also recommend S . E. Hinton's novel "That Was Then, This Is Now". There is also an intriguing author I'd also want to gauge -- Diane Duane. Duane wrote a Star Trek novel titled "Spock's World".

Very cool and, I love LeGuin...the Word for World is Forest may sneak in 😝

@@EveryoneWhoReadsitMustConverse Nice! Word for World is Forest is the sequel! Funny thing about LeGuin is every time I see her stamp at the post office which is tucked underneath translucent plastic counter tops across from the post office worker, I would make it a habit to point out who she is and why her writing is profound. Which reminds of the whole post office deal mentioned in "The Crying of Lot 49". Blows my mind every time.
