Just came to say I grew up listening to hip hop music but this song was on madden when I was a kid and I thought it was the dopest song and the guitar riff was so dope. But sitting here, at 29 in my apartment I randomly sang “I know it’s never good enough” and came here to this song. I hope all of y’all are doing okay who was listening to this as a teen. I hope you didn’t follow their lead and I hope you stopped getting up for the let down. Keep going.
I never understood how Cartel wasn't bigger???.. They're music was/is still awesome. Great band!!! I'm 34 now and love singing these songs and old FOB, TBS, NFG dashboard confessional etc. To my daughter. She 3 months old but loves these songs they calm her when she fussy hahaha
I think the reason why Cartel wasn't bigger was due to how there were too many bands at the time to the point where one of them would be in the shadows while the spotlights were on the popular ones that been around for a while. Green Day, Good Charlotte, Blink-182, etc.
This song, Anti Flag, rise against, Afi, and less than Jake and some of the rap/hip hop songs were good too. Mainly the punk rock songs were the best in the game.
You could say that at any age really and I've come to find a lot of people say that in retrospect. For example I was how old you are now when this came out and I could really say the same thing. Though at this point I'm digging in and working on making it happen for me so I can have a future that when I look back on, I can say I had no regrets about missed opportunities...
Honestly I haven't listened to any of their other songs only know this one from madden 07 but I dont really need to hear the others cause this song alone is 🔥
Holy hell, this makes my stomach feel like a heavy pit. I miss my teenage years. Such a brief moment in time with a mixture of experiencing new things in the world, early independence, and no responsibilities. It’s strange how time marches on and turns into…. Nothing. It comes and it goes. Anyways, I still love this song.
Don't care what anyone says; this song was composed so well and his voice...top 5 fav band voices of my elementary/middle school years. I wish so badly rock could return to this mainstream style despite my anti-mainstream lifestyle now

If you think about it, we was the last generation to be able to witness life before online gaming and social media took over. And im forever grateful to be able to witness that. Maybe thats why i go back listening to these songs from then. To be able to feel that again.

not that their music is simple because they do some technical things. but the simplicity in their music really drives the style... they are letting the instruments do the talking for the music and it does not take away from the vocals or lyrics... i always liked cartel now i feel a bit underground with them because not a lot of people know them. its special absolute underrating band especially matter of time my favorite song

Only the real remember this song from madden 07. When madden was actually a great football game and actual good raps/songs were put into the game. That game and this song was my childhood when I was 9-12 years old. I’m 25 now the nostalgia is crazy rn!!!
I've listened to their music for years and I never thought to look them up. ik his voice well and watching this, putting a face to the voice is a very interesting experience. He's very attractive.
Oh thank goodness I remembered this song just now 🥰🥰🥲 This came out when I was a moody teen. And lately, I feel like that often. Except my teenage daughter is a mini me and an added blessing/nightmare. Parenting is so hard sometimes, but this really lifted my spirits. Its like I could sing this to my 14 yr old self and my daughter, keep pushing forward so she can stay proud of us too. I never knew how good life could be, and all the struggles have been worth it. Even if they haven't stopped.
This band and Relient K need a giant comeback. I see Cartel has shows lined up for 2021. So hopefully. Id love a new album. They are so consistent. Not a bad song.
