Personally I’d definitely take archer over family guy. The character growth and the story lines are insane. And it’s always funny. Multiple jokes going on at the same time also. Great show.
That is a fantastic episode, especially the part where they're defusing a bomb. As a veteran Archer's complete lack of awareness of the NATO-phonetic alphabet was priceless. As Jeffrey Jones mentioned the "M as in Mancy" line was brilliant, but I also greatly enjoyed the more subtle (Archer) "'B as in 'Butthole'", (Ray) "Bravo", (Archer) "Thank you".
Archer is definitely on Hulu. Enough seasons to have you consider watching again. The difference with the shows is Family Guy relies at times on "stupid funny" and pop culture where Archer does more culture references throughout a large time period. Also, this show is actually dark. Wasn't till the third binge I realized Archer is very depressed and his personality evolved from an emotionally abusive upbringing, absent father and emotionally absent and distant mother, who was also absent at times. I believe Mallory (the mother) feels very bad for that and that's why she hired him and she actually loves him but they both are too prideful to admit it. There's more, but just watch

I agree wholeheartedly with your top-two but I personally have them swapped. I simply cannot resist the absolute chaos that is Carol/Cheryl/Crystal ("what hot black guys drink"/Cherlene. For me she gets a slight edge because Krieger is just that little bit too restrained (which says something about my tastes because he isn't exactly tame)... That being said, Krieger's vehicles (the vans) are bitchin and his custom weapons in 1999 (the season in space) were hilarious.
Archer is mad funny! First like four to to five seasons were insanely funny. It does dip a little but def picks back up. If you ever appreciated shows like Arrested Development & Workaholics, you would love this show overall.

Archer becomes brilliant when you out together all the little hints and backstories of all the characters. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to league of legends cinematics. Doesn't matter if you don't play, the cinematics will get you hyped. My favourite are either Warriors or The Call.
