Mr. Krabs has thrown birthday parties for Pearl, allowed Spongebob to spend all of his money on for gifts for her, taught her how to dive out of the water, gave her a job at the Krusty Krab, and has seen to be overprotective of her like having Spongebob watch over here during Prom. Sure in later seasons the cheaper he becomes but he is still shown to care about her. Hes far from being a good dad but I'd put I'm above Timmy's dad.
For God's sake, Timmy's dad told his own kid HE was the end of his dreams, and constantly mistreats him, and on top of it all, he is careless enough not to know how much of a monster Vicky is. Mr. Krabs, of all people, should be above Timmy's Dad.
To be fair though, remember the end of Abracatastrophe? Timmys parents beat the ever living shit out of Mr. Crocker, because he was trying to kill Timmy. Their worst sin of being parents are just being too absent, as they've both been shown to care greatly about Timmy.
Yeah but spongebob would do anything for mr krabs. Hes his boss after all. Mr krabs thinks money is everything so its made pearl kinda of a spoiled brag.
Jerry loves his kids even if they don’t show it back to him he is the embodiment of a father who genuinely cares for his kids and shows his best interest despite his insecurities. His father in law Rick abuses his power to manipulate his grandchildren to hate him when Jerry impregnated Beth when he was a teenager.😂
Jerry > Rick. Rick is a narcissistic self-loathing asshole who only cares about himself and getting what he wants. He's consistently exposed Summer and Morty to people and concepts that children shouldn't be exposed to and have basically robbed to them of having a normal life. All of this on top of consistently putting them in life-threatening danger, he along with Beth since he raised her, is one of the worst animated parents to exist. Jerry is a coward that let's his children walk all over him, but at the end of the day he cares about them and just wants them to live a normal life. Despite how much the show rags on Jerry, Jerry is the only member of the family that isnt a awful human being.
I personally think Cotton is the worst on the list because while his character is cartoony, his abuse seems very real. Omni Man definitely does more sinister shit, but I can't help but relate less because of the comic book nature of the show.
@@trellomikfi6796 Most of the redemption arc was skipped over from what I saw. They just pushed most of it under the carpet for the usual "superhero" stuff.
At least Nolan has a tiny amount of love for Mark, not enough that it stops him beating Mark into submission and killing thousands of innocent people, but enough that he does leave Earth after realising what he’s become. He’s still pretty bad but there are way worse.
At a convention, my friend got a tshirt of homer strangling bart but it was omniman and invincible, which we SHOULDN'T find funny, and yet here we are Also Bob deserves S tier and I'll die on that hill
Oof, been a while since I watched Steven Universe. Pretty sure they revealed some pretty bad stuff in Future that he did, like keeping him out of school for his own needs and stuff.
@@rogerphone481 The gems taught Steven basic school stuff. I'm pretty sure Greg didn't do it on purpose, it was his parent's restrictive upbringing he wanted to avoid pushing on Steven not school or anything. I guess he just thought it was easier to have him homeschooled given he's, y'know...part alien lol.
@@rogerphone481 in the main series Greg got millions of dollars for his song in the commercial. He said he can use it for college for Steven. But it was STEVEN that said he wanted to just be with the gems! He doesn’t appreciate everything Greg does for him smh
I think the main thing that a lot of people kinda forget about is that the Gem stuff kinda got in the way of parental stuff. Like, maybe when Steven was younger, Greg could've done something about education, but we gotta remember that the Crystal Gems were pretty dang protective of Steven and kinda secretive about their origins. Who knows if they would've let Greg put Steven out of their watch. And by the time the show starts, everything kinda goes to crap. Gems coming around to mess with Earth, a giant Cluster of Gems threatening to break the planet like an egg, and 3 totalitarian leaders that want revenge and destruction because of Rose. All of which Greg couldn't do much except take the backseat and try to help his son deal with everything that came his way. I get it, Greg wasn't the best dad for Steven, but considering the circumstances he and Steven were given, I think he did alright.
Everyone is talking about great fathers that should've been on the list Noone is talking about the one cartoon father who would've warranted a F--- Tier: *_Frollo_*
Holy **** he was HORRIBLE. Right alongside there with Ozai. I mean, what else is worse than trying to kill your own son (whether adoptive or not)? He did the literal bare minimum-and really, the only reason why he put up with raising Quasi was because he could potentially “use” him for his own genocidal schemes. Of course, he tried to play it off like he was repenting to God and “amending his mistake”, which is just plain disgusting. May he rot in hell.
Surprise you didn't mention Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck whom I would either put in A or S (somewhere in the middle of those), because he adopted Gosalyn and even though he messes up he goes all out and protects her but also see her as his equal at times. Like when she isn't in complete, remote danger he sees her as a rival, which shows his respect for her and showing he can handle her own. And shoot, the reboot version, I feel like he would be just the same for Gosalyn too. I can't fault you two if you didn't watch the show. I mean, I didn't watch most of the shows on this list but I just wanted to do a shout out! lol Great job though!
Funny how they have Peter above Cotton and Omni-man yet Peter has outright killed Meg with no hesitation before, at least Omni-man STOPPED and hesitated for a bit, trying to avoid needing to hurt Mark, Peter straight up shot Meg for just saying hi.
Yeah as a person Omni man really isn’t good, yet as a father he was actually really good at least until the big fight between the two, but he got better over time and he admitted that his time on earth with his wife and son changed him. If mark didn’t get his powers he may have just stayed as he was, a superhero with a loving family. I think at least high C or mid B for him.
and as spitefull nad cruel as cotton is,he actually cares about GH and even hank, even though he refuses to show it... and despite all this hes actually a decent grandfather when he wants to be. peter...well as meg puts it,does whatever he wants impulsively with no regaurd to anyone and constantly goes out of his way to torture and torment his own kids for no reason whatsoever.
Richard Watterson is a fantastic father, and anyone who says otherwise is a fool. Man has a IQ of 12 and yet he actually was willing to give his own life to save Darwin and Gumball. He may be lazy and a bad role model, but I don't anyone cares more about their children than Richard or Nicole.
no iroh feels like a big missed opportunity 8( he might be an uncle biologically but i think he's absolutely a wonderful parent to zuko and easily the best parent he had, and even if one ignores that, losing lu-ten is what made him abandon his right to the throne and war in general and we do know they had a great relationship in life so i think he'd still warrant a b-tier. i don't know if he was brought up at any point since i haven't watched the full thing yet but he's easily among the best parents in animation the one real negative i can say for him is that one could say _(similar to ursa though far less glaringly, given we never see him speak ill of her in earshot and that he wasn't meant to be her parent to begin with)_ he failed azula, but i will say as someone who's immensely critical of the adults in a child's life more than almost anything else in existence that ozai and his influence on azula makes it hard for me to even imagine how one could intervene there - ozai probably wouldn't have _ever_ run the risk of iroh influencing or rubbing off on his chosen successor and i imagine it would've been hard for him to even begin to intervene if he tried to, in the end zuko being the unfavorite and eventually exiled is probably what let him be saved and i don't think that's much of a mark against iroh _(speaking of ozai he'd obviously be at the absolute bottom, i think that goes without saying !)_ that silly ramble aside it's been a long time since i saw the first httyd movie but i don't think stoick should be _top_ of a-tier exactly either let alone s, i thought he wasn't really that great to hiccup for most of his life and that they kind of make a point of how he isn't much of a dad to him until hiccup starts being more of the success he wanted he was still a loving dad in the end, but i'd say he's still lower than greg and stuff, he wasn't always there for hiccup and he's definitely a case of "very flawed parent who really comes around after development" more than one who did an amazing job raising their kid and supporting them or tried their hardest. obviously he died for him in the end but i don't think there's any argument that _most_ of a tier would die for their children if it came to that, it's just a matter of the fact _some_ characters happen to be thrown into a situation that allowed it to come to such and others didn't, and besides that i think "died for their child" is a poor measure anyway - that's something even a lot of less good parents would do, i think the willingness to die for your kid isn't that high a bar for a parent to pass sorry for the big essaycomment, i guess that's kind of a given with tiering and even with pure fiction i get kind of rambly-opnion-y on parenting ^ ^,
Uncle Iroh gets an honorable title of Dad, and goes straight to S tier. Ozai goes in F tier below Cotton and Omniman because Cotton's abuse was more... I'll call it petty for lack of a better term, and Omniman has a chance at redemption.
Yeah, agree with the statement, most dads even in C tier would die for their kid. Even D tier dads would probably do it if they are in the right circuntances (not all of them tho) But its hard to put some one like Iroh on S tier, hes a great dad/uncle to Zuko. But hes actual son died so we really dont see how good of a dad was during that time. By the clues presented in the show he was probably a low C tier or even D tier dad. Then he changed for the better and after seeing the mistreatment of his nephew he decided to go and help him.
Yeah, honestly I would’ve put Stoick lower for the very reason you explained. It makes me wonder-what if Hiccup never “succeeded” in any way, and remained the same? Until he was 15, his Father didn’t really support him, and if anyone did, it was Gobber. And those are crucial years of development! If Hiccup ever felt the slightest bit resentful towards Stoick afterwards, I wouldn’t have blamed him.
Avatar has a lot of Dad's that could be here. Aang, Korra's parents, Sokka+Katara's Dad, Toph's Dad, Ozai, Bataar Sr., Asami's separatist Dad, and Zuko.
Omnidad is a complex case. He's so caught up on Viltrumite supremacy that I'd say it borders on being brainwashed, and that's what drives him to such horrific actions. Yet when he stops and sees what he's done it breaks his programming. At this point in the series I agree he's a solid F tier dad, but as it goes on [spoilers redacted]. Perhaps he never gets up to S tier, but given the clusterfuck of his species' background it really says something that he's able to break away at all.
Mr.krab let pearl take over the Kristy Krabi once and he let her do whatever she wanted to the point if almost bankruptcy After that he was more strict with her
For Nigel Thornberry, I rewatched the series and movie last year and it reminded me how good of a father he is. Besides the whole not letting Debbie go to school in the states, Nigel is so smart and has saved the family almost every episode and is incredibly protective and gives advice. Of course he relates more with Eliza but even with Debbie, he tries to be interested in her boy bands and teenage stuff, as corny and embarrassing as he is lmao.
@@Solid_Hank tldr biological parenthood doesn't mean anything here that mediocre family comedy where Will Farell is a straight-laced stepfather dueling with the badboy bio-father for their children's affections said it pretty well, I think: I don't remember the exact quote but basically any idiot can be a father. You just need to procreate. But to be a DAD, you gotta put in the work. You need to be a strong figure for somebody.
Weird that Connie's Dad is on this list. I wouldn't even know it was him if it wasn't for the art style. I can't remember a single scene he's in aside from the dinner scene with the fusion. And l don't even remember for sure that he's actually in that scene. Connie's Mom is in way more scenes and has a much better-defined relationship with her.
The Dad from Lou House is a good Dad, he connected with his family, he tries to spend more time with all of them, he enjoys spending with his son and his daughters. He cooks for the family and is very funny and protective and teaches them lessons that helps them in the future. He’s A or S tier
Mr crabs isn't bad dad he actually ask spongebob to take his daughter out to prom. Futhermore, give pearl what she wants for her birthday. Re watch spongebob please
In my opinion i kinda saw him as a dad who will just spoil his daughter and not give discipline (she will use her unhappiness like crying to get what she wants). Mr krabs has the mentality that money buys happiness and is just teaching pearl that too not any real life lessons. But it is a cartoon. So C tier is as far as ill go for him
Okay, this is coming from a guy who still remembers all the first eight seasons of American Dad, Stan should either be at the top of D or at the bottom of C. He definitely takes his role as a father way more seriously than anyone on D (minus Mr. Crabs) and he genuinely does care about his family. He sometimes gets into arguments or fights with his kids, but he usually ends up being on their side and supporting them at the end. However, Stan at times also puts his pride or insecurity above his family. He sometimes puts them in danger and doesn't even care that much.
@@ryuudraco592 Yeah, his resentment for not having the typical American household can be very entertaining at times, but it's a very bad mindset for a real life father to have.
I honestly didn’t think would be that interesting when I clicked the link, but now, seeing all the dads, and how you guys will rank them, this might honestly be the highlight of my week.
They really forgot about the time Mr. Krabs let Pearl be in charge of his restaurant and did not want to upset her when she was running the business poorly, huh? Granted, I'm sure he probably deserves the low rating due to seasonal rot and flanderization, but Krabs in earlier seasons was more grey morally.
When yall said "homer loves his kids/strangles bart though" my exact thoughts brought to words in the same time I thought them LMAO impeccable accuracy in yall's pickses 🔥🔥🔥
I love these tier list that you and Saber do together! I hope you two do more together in the future! 😄 Also, I'm really glad you put Mulan's dad on here, despite how he can be at times in the movie. I think he is an amazing father. And he is one of my favorite Disney dad's! ❤
I have no clue who almost half of these characters are or some of the movies/shows they came from. I'm just here to enjoy hearing Paleo and Saber talk about dads.
I absolutely love Bob from Bob's Burgers and one of the reasons I adore his character is because of what Saber mentioned! The planetarium episode! Such a good bonding episode... Man, I'm gonna watch it right now lol
@@Nosretep to be fair to Jake his kids grew up in a couple of episodes. Technically he is a dad but in practice hes isnt because he didnt need to be one. If i had to put him, i would somewhere in the C tier, but it almost feels wrong having him in the list all together.
@@Tillyard86 Because you singled out Splinter, I assume you're not just talking about the lack of biological relation but I have no idea what else you could mean. He specifically refers to the turtles as his sons in almost every version.
What Mr Krabs is a good dad 🤨 he completely remodeled the Krusty Krab to Pearls liking (kuddly krab)! He also went on a shopping spree with spongebob for Pearls 16th birthday
Iroh is technically Zuko’s uncle (I know he fills in the father role for him, but he’s not his biological father). 😐 Yakone would definitely be in that F tier as well 😂
Wasn't paying complete attention to the video, looked over & saw Jack Fenton in the bottom of the list and was about to write a VERY scathing comment, but then I saw the title of that tier. If there's one thing you can say about Jack Fenton, it's that in spite of his bumbling nature, obsession with ghosts, & inability to CATCH ghosts, he cares about the safety of his family. Heck, he learned that his son was half-ghost TWICE (the first time got reset) & he had nothing but acceptance for him.
George Jetson should, IMHO, be in C tier. He had a contributive role in making his own son, Elroy, run away from home because of a grade which was swapped with his classmate. Otherwise, a somewhat normal father.
Who is the better father? A man who is a scientific genius that uses his powers for good and creates his own daughters because he wants Townsville to be a safe place. Or One swimmy boy.
I'd put Goofy a bit over Greg yeah. I love Greg and to be honest I'm glad they revealed him to be a bit more flawed in Future since he was getting to just be the wise dad who does everything right.
I also think Hank Hill was a Good Dad, even when it wasn't his own kids (read: Luanne) he came around. I know y'all didn't have much space but Bob Pataki I'd put last in D Tier tbh
I'd forgotten all about "good hank " lol. Love that show. Also I always try to give homer a little credit for that episode where it explained that he worked at the power plant because Marge was expecting Maggie and he kept her photo next to his desk at work to keep him going. Also think that the whole 1950s dad goes to work and that's about it stereotype factors into Fred, barney and George but otherwise super job
I have to firmly disagree with the statement “ Martin never wanted to be a dad” I do believe that he had Finn on purpose. Him and min(I think that’s her name)started dating and then had Finn. if not on purpose he definitely cared about Finn a lot. you can tell at the end of the prequel episode when he says “I will be back” ( or something like that), he really meant that. It’s only after a decade of whatever he became this extreme scum bag
You forgot some iconic ones, 1 Maes hues (I know it's an anime not cartoon but he is still one of the most iconic animated father's of all time especially with all the horrible father's in that show) 2 0 from kids next door 3 Mr incredible
