16:20 the audio got muted due to copyright. But basically i said “we, the audience get a flashback and see what Seymour did after Fry’s disappearance…and all that was was wait outside of the pizzeria for years until eventually passing away. He never lost hope in seeing Fry again.”
Pingu 1:08 Tom and jerry 3:13 Ren and stimpy 4:35 Catdog 6:32 The misadventures of flapjack 7:56 Batman beyond 9:32 Mr meaty 11:39 Courage the cowardly dog 12:49 Futurama 14:58 Thank me later
I'm not usually a "Cartoons gave me childhood trauma" type of guy, but the Ramsey's ghost in Courage has definitely stayed with me since I saw it when I was a kid. Something about that early millennium CG just makes it all even more spooky! Great show though!
I feel like we only realised now that we’re grown up, how weird the characters really were. It’s also interesting how well they incorporated horror in to a kids show and was still one of the most popular kids show on tv. Also made me wonder if this was my first reason for being in to horror flicks lol
I remember the Pingu episode. I couldn't sleep for weeks without my parents. I also made my parents search in all the rooms for the 'evil walrus'. Lol. The things that scared us as children are kind of funny.
I watched it i get scared too like when i was Kid and i just alwasy looked away when it was that scene and then i just dont watch pingu anymore its too weird and maybe scary
when i was little, while all the other kids my age were getting traumatized by Courage the Cowardly Dog, i was loving it and it didnt scare me at all, i actually really enjoyed it. i never knew that other people found it scary until i was older. and thats how i knew that i was a fan of the horror genre
Here's my thoughts: 1. I always say Caddicarus' line "Hello sex pest!" when the walrus pops out from the icy background. 2. When the walrus squeals, cue Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain's song Sins of the Father based on I Hate Everything(from both of their Childhood Trauma videos).
Courage the Cowardly Dog is the "scariest" cartoon created as a series. I used to keep on watching those episodes while eating hotdogs with ketchup. I was feeling weird everytime King Ramses says "RETURN THE SLAB OR SUFFER MY CURSE". It's very creepy and weird at the same time. And the second episode that he mentioned wasn't traumatizing. I was getting so much sad memories by how Courage lost his parents. Tom and Jerry's Blue Cat Blues was not traumatizing but it's sad. I can't imagine me being Tom and then committing suicide. I feel bad for him...
I’d never imagine nature so disturbing after seeing that scene. The image it has stained into my mind - Fuzzy little beasts of mayhem. The flicker of their wings and the rate at which their mandibles move are actually disturbing
I remember watching this when i was 7 not knowing how sad it was, 6 years later i binge watched the whole series and found out how sad that one futurama episode was
Courage the cowardly dog is my childhood and when I was a kid, I was extremely disturbed by the show, especially the horribly bad but creepy 3D cgi. But I still love the show
I remember the Tom and Jerry one I watched it when I was only 4 and I somehow understood. I was traumatized for sure! 😪also the red mist squidward jumpscare (was taken down and replaced with a baby) scared me a lot too.
As a kid I was obsessed with courage the cowardly dog and as I got older I realized how utterly terrifying the show really is. If you made a video on just courage the cowardly dog I know for a fact I would binge it the second it’s released.
Same...I thought it was fun when I was a kid...turn out it freaking a lot of people including my younger sister...sometime I wonder if I am a psycho lol
Courage The Cowardly Dog was definitely the reason I love horror so much. I always loved it even though I used to get scared from it at times, I still sometimes watch the episodes that were the best.
@@danieln9226 why tf would anyone want them, some ppl dont like to traumatize thenselves. Ive already seen a man beheaded I dont think I wanna see shit else
The “pingu’s dream” scared the heck out of me when I was 5 or younger, I didn’t even want to go to the basement in my house for some reason. It not that scary anymore at all.
6:39 when you said Tom Kenny it brought a smile to my face I have been watching his various roles in animation throughout my life and he even inspired me to become a voice actor and I just got a role in a web series for RU-vid so this made my day, thanks for all of the wonderful videos made and the memories of cartoons I had tuv
Jurassic Bark seems to be based off of the real life story of Hachiko, the loyalist dog in Japan. Hachiko (also known as Hachi) would always obediently wait for his owner to return from work at the train station his owner took. One day the owner had a fatal heart attack at work and never came home, but every single day for 12 years Hachi went to the train station, sunrise to sun set, just to wait for his owner to return. Hachi was such a regular that people at the train station took care of him and even made Hachi a memorial statue when Hachi died. The statue still stands where Hachi would sit waiting for his owner to return to this day.
Honorable mention: "No one can hear you" in Adventure Time. When that deer stood up and took off the hooves and wiggled its human hands... and when Jake was genuinely BONKERS.... very unsettling haha Also apparently my older brother was genuinely scared of some Scooby Doo episodes. My sister was always freaked out by the gargoyle movie(?)
To be honest the episode of the crazy veterinarian getting mauled to death wasn’t scary, but it was satisfying because not only did he realize his experiment was an utter failure but how all the dogs including Courage’s parents finally got revenge against the man who got them stuck on the planet
I love Ren & Stimpy. What's amazing is that the full unedited episodes were on Nickelodeon and after the show went off air and returned to MTV the episodes were trimmed drastically. You would think the opposite would be true but I remember vividly how graphic the show was on Nickelodeon and how confused I was when the old episodes re-aired on MTV
I remember watching that pingu episode on a slightly damaged VHS tape. The flickering and occasional dark frames made the whole thing 10x more terrifying
How did people think the Tom and Jerry one was the finale? Obviously, they would be flattened but survive and return to normal after a few seconds of confused blinking.
Wallace and Grommet still terrifies me. When my family adopted our first dog, I had seen a cartoon of theirs where a metal dog got crushed and killed. It traumatized me, since I was only like 6.
Wallace and Gromit also traumatised me as a kid. Especially that “machine” in the Close Shave where it shaves Shaun the Sheep. It just made horribly wonder what would have happened if Wallace and the rest would’ve got sucked into thier. Died probulary…
Thank you for talking about the walrus on Pingu. Not many people do and it’s the one thing that to this as a 28 year old I still find TERRIFYING. A combination of his teeth and whiskers just creep me tf out.
I'm 27, so a year younger than yourself. But yeah I hated the Walrus episode. I heard it's actually a sea lion though? Someone else commented this. But yeah, I hadn't seen the episode in years, and seeing the clips of it on this video really did creep me out.
I actually am happy you included that Futurama episode because I do remember seeing that as a kid. I remember watching Cartoon Network spending the night at my grandparent's house and thinking I was still watching the kids programming because I didn't know what Adult Swim was at the time. This was the first thing that came on after the disclaimer for Adult Swim. I was curious so I gave it a watch. As a child who never cried in movies or TV shows, I was emotional after that episode was over. Seeing the dog waiting outside the pizza place brought me to tears. Yeah, after that I was more aware of when it was time to turn the TV off and go to bed.
Crazy, I actually liked all of these episodes. I found them “disturbing” or “creepy”. None of these have ever traumatized me whatsoever, I’ve enjoyed every one of them. For me, Courage and Ren & Stimpy will hold a special place in my heart always, those two shows especially were so hilarious 🤣
"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" segment (from the 1949's Disney film titled "The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad") was also controversial & haunting back then. Especially the scene where the headless horseman chased Ichabod, and it was hinted at the end that he killed him somehow.
When I was a kid I found the Flapjack episode with those whalers really creepy. I don't remember the whole episode but I do remember just this uneasy horror vibe throughout the whole episode, I couldn't watch it.
One of my most traumatising moments in cartoons was that damn 3d monkey that appears after the credits of a Jimmy Newtron episode I enjoyed the show, but everytime it ends, I always begged my babysitter to change the tv before the credits end because the last time I seen it, I couldn't sleep at all(and I already had trouble sleeping with my fear of the dark)
I have come to say, that no one has mentioned the episode "I Had An Accident" where two side characters are _brutally_ _assaulted_ by a gorilla, and the main character is *literally* *torn* *in* *half* _on_ _screen_ by said gorilla. Yes, there are other episodes that could be scarier, but this episode should be recognized, both for its unadulterated brutality and the main characters (and potentially some young viewers) developing pithecophobia. (No, _I_ don't have pithecophobia, but I am sure _someone_ does because of this episode).
I ALWAYS watched pingu when i was a kid (that was about 7 years ago) I absolutely loved this show, but then when the walrus got introduced, i FREAKED OUT. It still makes me uneasy today when im 15. Its funny how this was supposed to be a kid show lol
I was obssesed with courage since I was 6 and I was shocked of how was I able to watch it back then because now I can't even watch 10 seconds of a horror movie💀
Catdog was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, and I've seen that episode many many times, but I never really thought about how disturbing that inside-out scene is until right now... somebody had to animate that... and they did it in great detail... incredibly messed up still love it tho
i was traumatized by the walrus pingu episode and i remember being a child and actually thinking that episode was a nightmare bc i did everything i could to try and forget it it was so terrifying
I actually found that the episode luck of the fryfish was a lot sadder in my opinion, it literally tore my heart out more than the episode with seymore, also the first season of the Simpsons was so sad for me as well.
When I was 16, I saw episodes from courage the cowardly dog after not seeing the show for years, I questioned myself “how tf did I enjoy this as a child????”
I remember watching that pingu episode when i was about 5 or 6 and i actually thought the walrus was funny. I loved pingu growing up and i still do despite its odd presentation. I grew up with weird shows and this one always cracked me up
It's pretty normal specially when you're a gen Z kid. This shows make me appreciate creepy and hate new adult cartoons since old "kids" cartoon shows are more mature and fun. Also there's Danny Devito on your back ♥️♥️♥️
16:11 what makes me happy is that in another episode this gets basically ret-conned cause fry goes back in time and basically lives out the rest of his life, you could call it bad writing but idgaf the dogs happy so im happy
When I was a kid, I used to LOVE Pingu, it was my favorite show. I actually saw this episode in the tv many times and I was terrified. I couldn't sleep for days, then when I got older I ended up finding it kind of weird.🐧
I feel like every episode of ren and stimpy and the marvelous misadventures of flapjack could easily qualify as two of the most disturbing children’s shows
I’m so glad that tuv is growing so quickly, I came from the edp video and I’ve been lucky to see tuv grow bigger and see his videos grow in quality… we love u tuv.
People call it the Pingu walrus, but it's actually a sea lion. It wouldn't really make sense for him to be scared of a walrus, because they only eat small things like clams and shrimp. On the other hand, sea lions (and some seals) have been known to prey on penguins.
i know this cartoon deep in my memory but the fact that it was a sea lion is kind of creepy even though the sea lion was supposed to be friendly and goofy 😭😭😭
The only thing I was traumatized about were scary things such as that creepy seal from Pingu, but not really in regards to more adult subject matters. But one episode wolf spongebob that always frightened me was the accident episode where everyone was getting beat up by a giant gorilla in a costume
I stayed up one night to 9pm for the first time when I was a kid. I was watching Teletoon (Cartoon Network in Canada) and futurama came on and it definitely scarred me for a while. I remember it being the episode where Kif gets pregnant 💀💀
As a kid i watched courage the cowardly dog, i used to like watch it till 3 or 4 am (they streamed it really late in my region). i watched it when ofc my parents were asleep (they knew i watched this show) with lights off and only light was from the television and i have to admit, i was never once scared....my mom herself sat with me once and saw 1 episode to this day, she wonders how i am not traumatized by that show. the show was messed up but i loved it and found it interesting.
I thought that Pingu was Portuguese! Not only did I think I heard someone say is was from Portugal, but also the name of the language in the show is called "Penguinese"! "Penguinese" and "Portuguese" both start with a P, end with "ese", and have a g somewhere in the middle!
that one episode of spongebob where there was this guy in a trench coat and he basically only wanted to order food but they made it seem like he was this whole scary guy with a spatula for a hand- that episode scared me 💀
The inside out cat one is terrifying to me, as my cat had a litter of kittens when I was 7 and one of the kittens was born inside out, it’s entire organ system intact. My cat then proceeded to eat it’s organs When I was watching that clip it gave me flashbacks I never recovered from that Edit: I actually just realized I made a mistake, I was actually 6 when that happened. Which makes it worse
I was traumatized by this one episode of SpongeBob. It was the episode that Sandy was going into hibernation and SpongeBob and Patrick decided to mess were her, but a sleepwalking Sandy ends up ripping the tops of their heads off. It scared me so bad that night I had a nightmare and I woke up screaming, "SANDY NOOOO!" Of course I was only around the age of 4-5, the episode wasn't truly scary. My Grandpa didn't know SpongeBob was more for older kids when he put it on for me.
The cartoon episode that traumatized me the most as a child was from The Berenstain Bears (Or Berenstein...that's a whole other wormhole). I cannot find the episode anywhere. But in this episode, there was a big giant bear that the kid bears were scared of, and there was one scene that shows an image of him greatly enlarged and darkened, with the eyes lit up and in a sinister shape. In the end it turned out that the bigger bear was really nice and they made friends with him. Maybe it's not as scary as I think, but I was around 5 when I saw it and I just remember being terrified for a long time afterwards.
There's an episode of Courage the cowardly dog that basically emulates Courage getting r4p3d by Muriel's creepy cousin, who's visiting them. It's extremely disturbing, Muriel even introduces him to Courage as her cousin, who was just let out of prison, where he was put for loving people too much
The penguin one: I was in summer break in china, I was at my gramma and grandpa’s home, they had a tv. I loved watching what ever the penguin cartoon is… until I saw the last episode- “pingu’s dream” I got terrified about the walrus.. I had nightmares for like 3-5 weeks
To be honest, the Tom and Jerry one never clicked with me since they got hit so many times with so much force, I assumed the train would be like a "self-imposed amnesia" since that was also a typical trope in cartoons
I was always wishing it go well for them, like sylvester and tweety, I was wishing they'd be friends instead of hitting each other..it got kinda the same
OMG! So Pingu was also on TVO Kids in Canada and it was one of my fave shows as a really young kid (4ish), I 100% remember this episode! I don't think I cried but I was definitely freaked out!
I actually watched courage the cowardly dog show as a child but never got traumatized since I was too young to understand it. Actually, it was one of my favorite shows until the channel where i watched it, cancelled the show. But yeah it's still one of the creepiest cartoons to ever exist
that shit made me cry so hard i never saw the movie but i heard the story and it fuckin broke my heart 💔 he never gave up hope that his owner would come back. shit still makes me tear up. we don't deserve dogs
i grew up with tom and jerry, watching that episode actually made me feel a way that I had never felt before in my life at that point, I love tom and jerry and will always love it, but that last picture at the end made me cry as a child lol
What no one talks about but was deeply traumatizing for me, was the Hey Arnold Halloween episode where the train comes to town, and at the end they get on it as it takes them to hell. Horrified me
