It's a shame that Cartoon Network isn't nowhere like this anymore. The same thing goes to Nickelodeon and MTV. Thanks for posting this up, it brought me back a lot of happy memories from my childhood. : )

This was a nice surprise to see here on RU-vid. All these promos also include my day on the net work. Yes I am the guy that programmed cartoons for 12 hours, picking exactly what I wanted, I wonder if any of you reading this remember that day. I almost wished I could’ve done it again, so I could be more specific as the cartoons that I like. Of course there would be a lot of black-and-white titles there.

I remember seeing those Saturday Japanime commercials back then, and they freaked me out! Anime was a totally new, weird thing to me at the time, nowhere near as widespread as it is in this day of post-Pokemon and Adult Swim. Miss those days.

Man I miss Cartoon Theatre!! I think this was back when Cartoon Network had cartoons playing literally 24/7 and you could stay up past midnight watching them if you could hang for that long.

I miss the days when CN at night would play older and/or more obscurer cartoons at night. Now you get repeats the mostly the same things Adult Swim played earlier in the night....Hooray?

I agree to the point being able to be modern and retro was one of the channel's best points, i'm not sure how many of us in the 90s thought of the retro part as "cheesy old" To most of us it was always "good new stuff" and "good old stuff" We still today like new and old stuff, the entertainment pieces themselves can't change only certain people will change but i don't think alot do. Most people i talk with like what they did as kids as much today. it's still entertaining.

My god, CN had such a large variety of programming back in the day. I was so fortunate to have been an avid CN fan since the early days. Totally miss Down With Droopy D! Too bad they don't have this type of variety anymore.

I remember the old days of Cartoons, I do wished they could return to Cartoon Network programmes or at least I do wished some of my favourites are finally released onto Complete DVD collection at last like The Addams Family and Yogi's Treasure Hunt.

I enjoyed the late night offerings, when they were still classic cartoons all night long, like “late night black-and-white“, where you would get to see some of the earliest Looney Tunes and merry melodies, along with the earliest incarnation of porky pig, and the classic MGM “Captain and the kids“ series. I don’t know if any of these are still broadcast on the network, but I think you have to stay up all night long to find out. I was delighted to finally find a place where the classic MGM cartoons and classic Looney Tunes and Mary melodies were broadcast, totally uncut! Sad that this is no longer, but I still hold out hope that stuff will be released from the Warner archive on DVD and Blu-ray.

no one ever wanted to see "Yucky Duck" again. But this was truly the best era of CN. Vintage toons mixed with new cartoons that were actually good and meta-commercials that showcased the cheesy old toons in a funny way. The channel was retro and modern-it was perfect. The 90's CN will always be the best CN. Before they split Bommerang into another network. Sorta like how before they split Nick at Nite and TV Land apart.

Ah, this was the golden age of Cartoon Network. I miss all of these great programs! Nowadays, it's all gone downhill with crappy shows like: "Destroy Build Destroy" and "Dude, What Would Happen". I wish CN would go back to the way it used to be. :(

"Saturday Japanime" (also known as "Night of the Vampire Robots") was just a limited event, in which those three movies were shown at late night. They were shown numerous times throughout 1995 on Cartoon Network. Before "Toonami", the only anime on CN were "G-Force" and "Speed Racer".

The movies made their broadcast TV debuts on the Sci-Fi Channel around 1993 (at least VHD & RC did), and supposedly were then aired late nights on TBS & TNT circa-1994, before making it to CN in late January 1995. From what I can tell, this is the 2nd showing of the trio of movies that CN had that year. These movies, along with "Toonami Midnight Run" years later, paved the way for today's "Adult Swim Action". CN'd been testing the late night waters for years before Adult Swim.

It was there plan to launch new shows, make a bunch of pilots air them on tv and spin off the successful ones into full blown shows. They would keep the idea going later with the "Big Pick" that would happen on Cartoon Cartoon Weekend. All the leftover ones were rebranded into the What a Cartoon show or the Cartoon Cartoon show.

@uptowndanram6753
@uptowndanram6753 13 лет назад
@trapadoored Yes, my footage predates the premiere of Cartoon Planet, which premiered on TBS in late '95 I believe (it made the jump to CN in 1996).
@uptowndanram6753
@uptowndanram6753 13 лет назад
@trapadoored I believe that was the Super Adventures format (later revived as "Cartoon Roulette" in early Toonami), in which a mish-mash of '60's H-B superhero shorts were shown within a block of time Circa-1995-1996 schedules show PZ airinghese Super Adventures blocks along with stand-alone Hanna-Barbera/Ruby-Spears action shows (Thundarr, Centurions etc.). Strange to see CN promoting PZ and other late-night blocks like "Toonapalooza" so much, probably because they had recently premiered.
@uptowndanram6753
@uptowndanram6753 14 лет назад
@CartoonNothing For some reason, CN aired the Mr. Spim premiere promo during this time period. With very few exceptions, all of my promos are organized in the order in which they were originally aired/recorded. Thinking back, I tried to keep as few repeating promos as possible (with the exception of the "Short" and "Long" versions of many promos), but let this one slide, perhaps because it contains the clearest version of the Mr. Spim commercial theme. These videos were sure hard work!

@cyberyanmar Nope, not all. One or two did, most notably Butch Hartman (of "Farily Oddparents" fame). He did a couple of one-off shorts for WPT. Some stayed at CN, like Genndy (Dexter, Samurai Jack, Foster's) and McCracken (PPG), others fell into obscurity and one in particular went on to TV superstardom............some guy named Seth MacFarlane, heard he created some show called "Family Guy". WPT was the breeding ground for a lot of great talent.
