My family and I were just in Lancaster this past Wednesday. My kids saw the hotel and immediately wanted to stay! 😂. When we stay in Lancaster we go to the fancy looking best western.
...No. First off, its a motel, one that isnt even cleaned properly. Secondly, it just feels wrong. Like its CN, it should be bright and bustling but it looks so... sad. Like a Days Inn or Motel 6 but with CN. They can do so much better, and they know they can.
I think a big problem is the location. Like what in the hell is it doing in the middle of Amish country? And it should’ve been built from the ground up instead a hotel that was redone
That was the first thing I said when I seen the rooms outside I said this a days inn not what suppose to be a CN hotel just pitiful anything to get money it is not giving CN to the fullest its cheapest way out
they could have added greenery like trees, bushes, gardens around the pool area. give the place more shade. make it more lively. it’s just an open space with nothing really to see and look at.
Also you're justified in your criticisms. Not only does it contain IPs that are wholly outdated (Gumball ended, 2016's Powerpuff Girls ended after a disastrous run, Ben 10 ended, etc), and hosts none of CN's current cartoons save for maybe Teen Titans Go, but CN is now under possibly the worst CEO in entertainment history, so yeah this is basically a good symbol of the state of the studio right now.
It probably doesn’t help that when the hotel was in development. All those IP were airing… Ben 10 didn’t end till 2021. Almost a year after this opened
But to be fair the Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10 and gumball or Cartoon Network staples so they have to be there and are outdated, especially since gumball and the Powerpuff Girls are getting another revival and Ben 10 is gonna have a live action movie at some point from what I heard but Cartoon Network doesn’t have any new cartoons at the moment so kind of makes sense instead of stuck in limbo
It looks kind of depressing. I would never stay there for that price, but when my daughter was that age, we used to stay at the Hershey Lodge for a few nights. That was so much nicer than what I see here. This really does look depressing.
My kids would love this. They went from Nick Jr. to Disney Channel to Cartoon Network. I would pay for one night, but not for multiple nights. If we go I would bring our plug-in charging tower for all our devices.
Glad I saw your video. Was at Dutch Wonderland just last week, and my daughter inquired about the Cartoon Network motel. I told her it was too expensive. We stayed 2 miles away, and the place was wonderful. In fact this area has tons of really great motel/hotels at reasonable price and better up-keep...and free breakfast.
i stayed there for 3 nights and there were NO dressed up characters, no outdoor movies even though we were told they were be. payed so much to stay there to not even see anything promised
Nice video! In terms of my personal experiences, I have stayed here twice: Once in November of 2023 for one night, and once in late June of this year for two nights. In June, we had an adventure time themed bunk bed room that was on the poolside of the standard room building, and it was really clean! Everything was perfect and nothing was dirty, no bed bugs, no stains, no anything, and it was like this on both trips, so I’m surprised that it was like that in your room. The only thing that really bothers me though is the motel style of the rooms, unless you stay in a suite which get booked really fast apparently, as they were all sold out in the times we went. The activites in the lobby are great, however I personally think that the arcade is a little too small as it seemed very crammed, and there should be some more variety in terms of the activites they offer in the toon room. Other than those things, everything was awesome for the times I have been there! Since me and my cousins are huge Adventure Time and Cartoon Network fans, we plan to keep coming back at least once every year, since we all enjoy going there so much.
Demi, thanks for taking one for the team. My kids always beg to stay here and we live about an hour away and it’s a definite no for us. That shower was disgusting. How much does it cost to strip out the old caulk and replace it?
Girlfriend 😂, no way would I pay for that generic tourist trap.I agreed with your assignment. Also, it's like they ran out of money for renovation. That laundry room looked like a scene for the newest serial killer movie. No microwave in the room? 😂😂😂 That shower needed bleach .
I live near that hotel. I remember thinking it would be cool because they were saying it will be a resort. Then saw it and thought if I paid the costs they want I would be pissed. It was a rundown motel a while back. All they did was remove the front of the motel and replace it with Cartoon Network theme. For the costs it should be full hotel wil indoor room access. The looks of the motel has that "hired encounters" feel to it.
Wow! I stayed here back in March of this year and did not see any issues that you mentioned here. As someone who has been a manager of a kids entertainment business in the past I’m blown away that they let that low level of cleanliness pass.
Thank you sooo much for doing this! I was thinking of staying here with my kids the next time I'm visiting family on the east coast. But I agree with what you said. I'd be severely disappointed had I seen all of that for that price. Under $100? Maybe. But $200+? Absolutely not. There's many other places to stay in Lancaster that are still close to Dutch Wonderland. Thank you again!
I never heard of this channel before, but Im so happy it appeared on my feed 😭 I was tripping over the CN Hotel when i was little, and i never even went, lmaoo
You are spot on with the outlets. As one who also covers various hotels, AC outlets and/or USB outlets are very important. Nice overview of the hotel, and I agree it seems overpriced, and breakfast should be included for that price.
We stayed there in August of 23. My kids had been wanting to go for awhile Lancaster PA was on the way to our final summer destination so we booked 1 night. My wife and I weren't crazy about the price but it did include complementary breakfast for us, so I'm bummed to see that's no longer the case. My kids loved the whole thing and my wife and I enjoyed our time as well but for us this isnt a multi night stay kinda place. The amenities while enjoyable would get old fast. So if you're a fan of CN i think it's a fun place to check out for a day but definitely not a whole vacation experience.
This is actually wild for me to see after driving past every day since it opened! It's surprisingly sparce and saved me a detour on my way home from work!
My boyfriend of 6 years and I have gone 3 times. We were actually there in June to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We love the theme and nostalgia. The prices varies depending on when you go. They are extremely short staffed and we aren't even going to talk about the cafeteria and barista cafe prices/quality 😅 you're better off going to the various restaurants nearby for what they charge. Rooms' conditions also vary on location on the lot. If CN hotel was actually ran by CN itself, it might actually be a lot better. But, it's owned by Dutch Wonderland. Would be nice if they had microwaves in the room. There's a lot of improvement to be made. The prices for some things can be ridiculous but, we like going. It's hella cheaper to go out there than paying for hotels in MD 😂 we usually stay from like Thursday to Sunday whenever we go out there.
I see things have changed since my family and i went in 2022. The food looked better there was no buffet, you ordered your food and they served you. I dont think we would stay there again. I do appreciate your review cause it looks like a few things have changed.
Sup Demi! You finally got to go to the Cartoon Network Hotel! I go by here quite often when my wife and I go to either the Tanger Outlets across the street or to the Rockvale Outlets a little further down the road (which has a Disney Store). After seeing this review, I definitely would not stay here. It is way too expensive for the quality of the room, and the fact that it’s 30 minutes from my house makes it an easy pass for me. The only positive I see is early entry into Dutch Wonderland…that is such great theme park.
I stayed here twice this year and last with my family during their competitions and it was 130 per night in the spring. Also, the rooms were very clean during our stay. I was skeptical because of some reviews but you really just have to go yourself. If you look on their website and many other travel sites, the rates for this hotel are well less than 150 per night throughout the year. I wouldn’t just stay as an adult going on a trip but kids love it. My girls loved it and request to go every time we start in Lancaster.
Glad you had a great time! I know kids won’t know the difference and will have fun, but for the quality of the rooms it should not be priced the way it is, but more importantly they need to refurbish the rooms.
I love watching these insiders, keeps other frim a disappointment, thanks for be so caring. Bleß your heart ❤️ My mom and injust stayed at Wisconsin Dells hotel casino and same only two pillows and stains on carpet and furniture.
My mom worked at dutch wonderland in the 90s she told me the hotel this used to be was not that nice so its cool to see it renovated amd its kind of weird to be cartoon network. Also we pronounce it Lankister for some reason
A little surprised you hadn't heard of Ben 10 at least. There was an OG version that ran in the early 00's and the version they have at the motel/ hotel is the 'modern' reboot. Not saying that as like a gotcha, just an observation haha. Very fun watch either way :)
As someone who has lived in Lancaster my entire life, I can tell you that the Marriott in the city is the best spot (Side Note: people in Lancaster pronounce it more like Lank-iss-ter and not Lan-kas-ter)
I’ve wanted to go here since it opened and this is the most detailed review of this place. I actually didn’t know it was a motel!!!! I am disappointed in this entire property based on your review. I’ve stayed at the very fancy Marriott in downtown Lancaster for cheaper.
i live and work in this area and drive past the CN hotel all the time and it’s always looked…run down?? i’ve never seen that place have a full parking lot, even when it was “brand new”. i considered staying there once in 2021 but it just seemed too expensive for what you get. i’ve even considered applying to work there too in the past, but what i noticed is that they seem to be pretty short on staff, which could explain the lack of cleanliness. overall it feels sort of out of place to have in an old, historic area like lancaster and better suited for somewhere out west. glad to finally see what an actual stay there is like
My fiancée, our two kids and I stayed here in December 2021. We paid for the next tier room which had a king bed and two bunk beds. I agree with everything about the lobby and the store and how nice everything is. Our room back then was decent. It was super nice and clean for the most part. But what bothered me is that there were signs everywhere saying no smoking on the property and there were people smoking cigarettes and weed. It was so disappointing and disgusting. It's a hotel for kids and people feel like it's okay to smoke weed. But in spite of that we've been talking about maybe going back. But your review isn't the first review I've seen that has looked bad. I guess maybe we're better off staying away.
So the receptacles, by code need to be within 12 feet of each other(linear wall space). Also within three feet of a doorway. From what I see not to code. The reason for this is because appliance cords can reach a receptacle anywhere along the wall. My license reciprocates in PA so I am assuming the same code applies. I could be wrong. 14:31. It is also an older building clearly. So it probably predates some codes, which I don’t know. Edit(staying next Friday, I like to form my own opinions.) Second edit: I stayed. Not worth the time or money. Go somewhere else.
🤨$230 is pricey, but a nicer character hotel would've cost way more. It looks like a motel that someone painted in bright colors and threw some characters into. Its cute for a 1-2 night stay if you have kids who'll love it, but not something Id do regularly.
I'm sorry but the outlet sitch is a little silly. 8 in 1 room is enough. Yes, I get people have earpods, phones, tablets, hairdryer etc but you can charge your ear pods after you use the hairdryer...so many ways EIGHT outlets can be utilized. Otherwise, I agree the room was too expensive for what you got. So much more to complain about for that money then 8 outlets.
Like I said, it also shows that rooms need refurbishment. Newer rooms have tons of outlets. This room clearly has never been renovated once. There’s not even an outlet by the desk. Of course if you have to make do what 8, you can, but that’s not the point.
I've never been in there myself though I did pass by it on US 30 when it was a Continental Inn. Going by your review, it's a place I'd stay in for 1 night only.
This price could have been because of the summer time a hotel like that will jack up the price they could add more pillows and include the breakfast for that price
I'll have to brush up on my PA knowledge (mostly for Peter!) cause I'd never heard of Dutch Wonderland...looks sweet, though, and can't wait to see your park review!
The only thing that’ll get me to stay at that spot is if I find myself traveling to Lancaster ( for whatever apparent reason lol ). Given the fact that there are tons of hotels & motels alike that includes free breakfast yet CN’s don’t is like a scam by the Eds themselves XD food/snack selections does look good though. No bar soap is a crime itself for $215+ per night lmao. If there’s one little nick picking change that’ll spice it up to the true CN style is adding the checkered themed patterns a little more such as on the stairs, including changing those zebra looking curtains to it; it’s as if they didn’t have enough in the budget to get their curtains personalized so they were like “Well screw it, let’s get any existing curtains with any black & white.. ah these will do”. The park/pool area is a great vibe I’ll give em that, I’d certainly get some fish tacos from the concession stand if they have those.
I can tell you most of the funding went to the graphics everywhere. I install signs and vinyl for a living, and let me tell you I'm very envious of whoever got to put all that up lol very easy but time consuming (time consuming=more money for us).
Are they paying for their branding or what?? There is so much missed potential there. You can stay at a CLEAN themed resort hotel for that price. And get free breakfast.
Just WB cutting corners as usual. I think that Harry Potter money is single-handedly keeping them from going under (as problematic as the franchise and its creator is)
I’m sorry, but when this room at $300 is $10 more than what I’ve paid to stay at Disney’s pop Century, which is similar layout but far nicer and in a much more expensive area this is an absolute joke
Thank you for doing this. I was very curious about the hotel after pasing through it. I never plan on staying there since I live somewhere nearby, but wow I'm glad I dodge a hefty 200 dollars for an area tbh not that great imo
I have zero intention of ever traveling to that hotel, but I really enjoyed this video telling me about it. Lol. The hotel merch is pretty nice, but I wonder if this is some test location before they open up resorts or something. Turner Broadcasting can afford something better than this, this was nasty bro.
Good God that shower is terrible. Who doesn’t put any caulk where the floor meets the wall? I can feel the mold growing. And the outlets? I brought a power strip in case I needed it the last time I was at Disney World (I did). A family of four is going to need several power strips or charging towers.
Correct. You just can’t use the pool. And you shouldn’t use the toon room because that’s a free benefit you get as a guest. But looking around and buying things should be fine.
Hilarious they can’t even offer or media type content a.k.a. Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, etc. I know they don’t own as much as they did before, but this was at a Six Flags type hotel in comparison, but the fact they don’t even have the intellectual property is insane and the fact that idiots are paying 300 for this crap is even funnier
I really wish hotels would stop doing the wood-burning firepits. Not only is it terrible for the environment, but I'm also super allergic to smoke. Any hotel/motel that has these is automatically eliminated for me.
Stayed here and horrible. The toilet paper was a joke and shower had hair in, not mine. Even found hair in bed and had to call front desk for remote for tv. Not worth it
I stayed there with my 3 kids last year. The shower looked like yours - not good. The sink wasn’t draining properly. There were not enough towels for all of us and they never brought us more. The room smelled musty. It. Was. Not. Good.
Families with children stay at Hershey hotels, Disney hotels, Universal hotels, and none of their rooms, which I’ve stayed in more times than most people ever will, have ever been this dirty.
Did I say 8 per person? No. As I said for new people to my channel, I do that segment because new hotel rooms are filled with outlets, and you can tell when a room needs refurbishment based on how many outlets are in a room. Clearly they did the bare minimum when they rethemed this room from the original motel. And that’s my point.
@@MagicalHijinx you should still bring power strips especially if you know you are going to an old building hot... btw dont go to europe. they wont have enough plugs for you
I haven't even finished the video yet but so far for $300, no thanks! Even a motel provides breakfast and a microwave, and the vast, dry grassy expanse is just depressing.
Yeah your outlet thing is ridiculous If you need 5 outlets per one person Your just never going to find that unless you pay real money for a hotel 200 dollars is the average price of a hotel these days basically So At Disney You will find a lot of outlets Still not 5 per person because you just can’t get 20 outlets into a 270 sq ft room
My standard is 4 outlets per person. I’ve covered more than half of the disney hotels and I’m pretty sure they have all passed my outlet seal of approval. And like I said, the point is that if there are few outlets, it shows a room needs refurbishing.
I feel like a campground would’ve been more appropriate. Kinda like Jellystone but with more characters. If you think about it, half of the shows take place in woodsy-like areas. Plus it’d be kinda cool to see a cabin lodge that looks like Elmore or the candy kingdom in OOO.
I been dying to take my kids to stay here for a weekend. But every video I watched it’s a disappointment. Especially because my kids love the Cartoon Network cartoons. They really should do better. I think I will wait to go for when they decide to fix what everyone is complaining about. That bathroom was. huge NO for me.🤢
