I always loved Mr. Simmons, he reminds me of my 2nd and 4th grade teacher's. They loved their students, loved to teach, and you could tell they were not just there for a paycheck. And that always made school so great! (At least in those 2 grades)
Makes me wish I didn’t have teachers that were mostly gray leaning towards bad. But the schools I went to sucked anyway so I’m not surprised. They let a guy, who attempted to push a girl down a flight of stairs, keep coming in like nothing happened.
You mentioned Mr. Simmons, but you didn't mention Arnold's first teacher, Miss Slovak, who was in the first season. She is most well known for the episode "Teachers' Strike".
Edna might not be the caring teacher, at least she did try her best to help her students, especially Bart, as well as one of the more sympathetic characters in the series.
