In this episode, we learn about the camera sync timing system and the issues it presents in using these cameras generally. I discuss several options for solving the sync timing issues and discuss making the camera fully portable and battery operated.

Sir VideoLabGuy, Excellent analysis. I used to use those MM5369s for clock time base. In fact I still have one 'ticking' away on an old conveyer belt LED counter. Counting away seconds for no particular reason. Your plan for the CV camera is very cool!

Another idea! How about taking three cameras and making a color camera? Either a prism block or a dichroic mirror box.

What do you think a my triple frame grabber project is for? Just for the Kicad practice? Well, there is that too, of course. I have all the parts to do what you just said. I even have an NTSC encoder for ruining the beauty of pure RGB video... if I must. Hence an RGB frame grabber... I got ten half megabyte 15nS static rams. One per frame/plane. Lots of timing overhead for video in, out and host in/out simultaneously. These Cyprus SRAMs are FAST! Master clock is only 12.096MHz / 82.7nS.

If you are the video lab guy with the museum, you have no way to contact you on your website when you ask if anyone has any information on anything on the site. Also, looks like it hasn't been updated since 2005. I have some photos of the Shibaden SV-530U from a Craigslist ad. I planned to buy it, but got pretty sick and by the time I felt like going out in the cold, someone else had grabbed it. It had an original tape, user guide and service manual with it.

The Labguy's World web site is HUGE. You are correct that many parts of it have not been updated in a long time. I am sure your web site is managed WAY BETTER than mine. I am glad you recovered from your illness. Sorry you missed the opportunity to snag that Shibaden VTR. Good news! There are plenty more fish in the sea. I update sections when someone shows interest in something or provides new or relevant information. This does not happen very often any more and much of the farm lies fallow for long periods. However, there are sections, mostly under the video and electronics projects sections, that do get updated quite regularly. Not as regular as would be nice, but I am a one man show and times is very precious. As for the contact information, see the page entitled, "[PERSONAL CONTACT INFO AND SITE CREDITS], right on the front page of the site, second line from the bottom. www.labguysworld.com/Site_Info.htm

@@videolabguy LOL. Sorry. Didn't mean to sound curt. I was just in a hurry. You have a great, well researched site. When something is extinct, you can only say so much about it. Just wasn't sure it was still of interest to you.

i have a question. how long have you used the same begining sequence withe the 5 photos and guitar music?

It appears the first time on June 20, 2017. At some point, I lost the original version and recreated, making it much shorter than that original. It was too long winded. It has become stable because each video you see is built from the previous one. I load the previous video, delete everything between the opening and the closing, then edit the new material into that. That group of five photos is the theme for my web site's front page and has been since around 1998. It is my trademark. www.labguysworld.com
