Carving a Knight for a Chess Set 

When 1st starting to learn to carve one of the 1st things I did was a chess knight,
when I went to made a complete Chess set the 1st piece I made was this knight.
[my thoughts were the knight is the most difficult, so if I can make that then I can make a complete set]
Hand carved from Basswood
I used a needle file the get the finer details around the ears
The Wood stain used to get the final colours was ‘Light Oak’ and ‘Dark Red Mahogany’
With a clear coat of varnish over the top.
