This is the first spoon i've ever made and considering that i made it using only handtools, i think it turned out pretty nice. The spoon is made from a piece of ash wood that has been drying for about a year.
Depends, did he make, or buy the oil, typically homemade is safe, and bought is toxic obviously, not counting oils that are made from toxic ingredients.
Wow , I'm not the only one, to use hand tools, I even have that Japanese double sided saw. Get a piece of leather and tie it to you leg when working, it will save your artery and keep you clothes clean too. I'm watching my self carve that spoon , cause I do it just like that.
