I left Trinidad, P.O.S. 1960, age 10, never been on a revisit, I appreciated this video, looking forward to viewing more of your videos of other places.
Born and raise in Cascade until I migrate to the US as a teen. Seeing those places brought back a lot of good memories. I also was able to show my kids.
Lived on Knightsbridge rd 1964 -1967. Half way up, house no longer there, but across, I see two of my neighbors houses. Amazing. Thank u JB. Best part of my childhood.
I see you are a veggie guy. I am not, but is there a recipe for ‘bake’? I used to have it every day after school. I think it’s mostly flour, salt and oil. I see Maracas, the bake and shark, but no help to show me the ‘bake’. I am enjoying your clips, thank you JB.
@@carolynstaats7which kind of bake... fried or in the oven? If you are talking about the one in Maracas then that is fried and is basically the same as "floats" in the USA. By the way... I am vegan.
Oh, vegan. My apologies. Your dishes look heathy and delicious! I found ‘bake’ recipes by putting in ‘Trinidad’ in my search. I am looking to see if you have a driving video to Maracas or Macgueripe beaches. I have forwarded you ‘Cascade’ video to my family and friends. They love it! Just a bit of ‘vertigo’ getting used to driving on the left. Drives are so much fun, relax me with your wonderful description of the explore. Will continue watching! Thank you JB!
Thanks you kindly for letting other know about my Channel. I have hundreds of videos... thousands actually including those beaches and the trip there. See: jbsmancave.com/trinidad-and-tobago-road-trip-map/
JB, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I never knew Cascade had that many hills. The Mon Repos road (I think it was) where you in times pass took your car to fix; I am thinking if someone's car can make it up that steep hill you don't need a mechanic 😂 your car is working just fine.😂😂😂. Another great video JB. 👍🏾
Halceon, you are witty but there is some truth in that. Thanks for watching and don't forget my shorts too. 😉 For instance, my new Trailer... for those of you who have seen the TAKEN movies with Liam Neeson what do you think? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-37WZ_4vORS8.html
That is a very good question. It might but depends on a number of factors like: weight of the car, load in car, type of engine, etc. Thinking of going up Mt. Holo?
I lived in Cascade as a young girl, over 50 years ago! You drove past my 'then' home. I rode my bicycle to school along Cascade Rd. then Coblentz. Great childhood memories!
Bevon, thanks for your thoughts. There may be other areas of Trinidad of which you are not familiar, please do check them out on my channel: JB's Man Cave.
Born and grew up here this video is sooooo pleasing to see I stay right there every time I’m there and I am from all the way up😅 it’s called the Blanca
I appreciate you doing this. I love driving around and checking out beautiful areas. Especially in Trinidad because it has some really beautiful places. If you do hikes I’ll be happy to join you on one in the future.
Hello JB Man-cave, thank you for this amazing video about unique Cascade. I was born in Port of Spain in 1945. We, mother, father, two sisters and a younger brother lived in Cascade. Up the earthen steps at the end of Strathclyde Avenue. My name is Sherwin Scott, sisters are Marcia and Vanda, younger brother Fred. Father, Eustace and mother Erlene. Parents were born in Barbados. Their children were born in Port of Spain. We went to a primary school in St. Anns and then to Tranquility Boys and Girls school. We lived in Cascade from approximately 1944 to 1960. Then moved to England where we now live. Parents are no longer alive. I lived in Barbados for a short period with an older brother and his family. There were very few cars around at the time we lived in Cascade. We could not afford a car. So to get to Tranquility Schools, we had to walk down Strathclyde Avenue, down Cascade Road, down Coblentz Avenue, across the Savannah to Victoria Road where the two schools were located. Then walk the same journey back home. We just took it in our stride ! I have enjoyed living in Cascade. Your video enabled me to see places that I have never visited when I lived in this beautiful district of Trinidad and Tobago. We attended the Hanover Methodist Church in Frederick Street, 1:45:40 Port of Spain. We used to shop at the Hilo Supermarket on Cascade Road. It was replaced by Masseys.
I grew up on HOLOLO MOUNTAIN. Although our house was not fancy, we had a beautiful view....never had to leave our house to go see "FIREWORKS," ON INDEPENDENCE NIGHT. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN LIVING THERE, OUR FAMILY LEFT IN 1972 TO GO LIVE IN BELMONT....CHRISTMAS TIME....CARNIVAL TIME & EASTER TIME WAS SO MUCH FUN....WE WERE NOT WEALTHY BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH LOVE WITH MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO JUST "LIFE."❤
@@JBsManCave yes that's the correct name for it and the house you which you saw on the left side of the bridge that is where I used to live with my grandmother but more of the less it's a really peaceful place to live thanks for sharing this video with me keep up the great work as always and probably our paths may cross again once I am in Port of Spain during public events and festivities held at the Savannah
Good Evening, Flat topography for me. Life SEEMS so much simpler if you are inhabiting in a non-hilly area,..... at least to me. Thank you very much for the exploration JB and do have a good start to the week.
@@JBsManCave Hello JB, another aspect of my life that I would greatly prefer is to be "vehicle-less." I wonder how frequent the cab service is on the "main road(s) in a place like Cascade. Also, I wonder where are the nearest PTSC bus stops. Thank you again.
Val, ah I have a playlist on the Bahamas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yaUbSWvFcoA.html if you wish to comment on any of those videos and will get around to Sierra Leone soon enough.
Hey GM, hope you have a great day!! Your Cascade trip was enlightening and inspiring! Thank you so much. A lot of greenery, didn't know Cascade was so expansive, big houses wow! But a lil criticism, roads too narrow, double parking?? Houses built right next to the road, pavements in the wrong places. What happen Government don't oversee all this nonsense. Don't we have a Ministry of Development?? It's a 4×4 country with 1.4 mil pop. and GDP in the billions. What happen trinis like it so? 🤔🤔🤷
I just watched a movie from 2022 and saw dat u past through my area and I would like to congratulate u on a job well done yours truly Rose marry and Curtis
@@JBsManCave I have been away from Trinidad for quite a while, so it seems more populated and many new properties, although Christ Church on the corner of Hololo and Cascade Rds is still the same.
@@JBsManCave I lived next door to the Raphaels , I heard Mrs Raphael angrily going about her business with family members mainly her husband was at the receiving end , I’m not sure if I’m over sharing!
I've never been to Cascade. I didn't see any schools, churches , police station, health center or cemeteries I watched the whole video. It seems to be a large community. Did I missed it. Also some of the walls really need maintenance. I love seeing a well maintained wood house. Cascade is a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to check out the Princes Town/Moruga and Sangre Grande videos.
Lady Michelle, the only school in the area is one for the Deaf. The other side of the community (St. Anns) has an asylum but there are no health centers or police stations. There are primary schools and a Church. See: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aUjE19IURbU.html
I watched and listened to the entire video.. waiting to see mon repose....😊😊😊extremely different....the mechanic area need to be addressed...terrible 🤷♂️
@@JBsManCave Since you insist,i will reveal my ignorance and curiosity about this Country,Trinidad & Tobago. Please, don `t take it personal, maybe , you can help me understand things.I was told that gas and oil were discovered and are being exploited in Trinidad & Tobago. Through You Tube ,i was able to see and hear the transformations brought by the discovering of oil and gas in the Golf States such Oman, Qatar, Arabia Saudi ...people are enjoying a prosperous and a good life there. It does not seem to me that this is the case too in Trinidad & Tobago.Where are the infrastructures to support such a claim?
@@JBsManCave yes...Mon repose was forest when we left in 1972....now mansions and walls...the mechanic took up a lot of extra space probably squatting....and it looks dumpy...
JB thank you for the drive, we enjoyed the entire thing!! My sister and I were talking so much that we missed some of your questions but I do agree with you that certain aspects of Cascade reminded me of that European feel. There is actually a puzzle with houses built on a hill which is reminiscent of the places you visited today in Cascade. Really a lovely area indeed and very mountainous. Thank you JB for cheering us up!❤
Michelle, ah well you will have to watch it again to pick up on all my questions. 😉 Don't miss out on my Shorts too. My new Trailer... for those of you who have seen the TAKEN movies with Liam Neeson what do you think? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-37WZ_4vORS8.html
@@JBsManCave JB after your short, I actually looked at the original trailer and it was a really good parody of Liam threatening the kidnappers. Now I have to watch taken.
@@JBsManCave You inadvertently created a great commercial for the Taken movie which I never watched although it was recommended to me by my other sister. She herself was "Taken" by Liam and I couldn't be bothered. P.S. we are still avid viewers.😉
Stephanie Lopez: Are you related to Robin Lopez & I heard Donna Lopez is no longer on earth with us...I went to St.Martin's Girls' high School with DONNA. MY maiden name was CASTRO.
@@stephanielopez6528 Thanks for your response....Just onr more question (smile)...Did you attend St. Martin's Girls' High & Did you attend the same school too.
@@JBsManCave We watched the first 50 minutes and then we found out about our loved ones unexpected passing. Last night was the first night we felt the zeal to continue our road trip with you. It eased our feelings of sorrow a bit.
Michelle, oh sorry to read, my sympathies with you and yours. I was actually saying that in the video about how people all around me are dying and it shows more as you age.
@@JBsManCave Oh! I remember you talking about showing your age but we missed the first part of the point. Now I understand. In this case it is not age related but a young man and an unexpected loss of someone we dearly loved.
Yes, and like I say in most of my videos it is all being taken over by concrete. However, Cascade is one of the few places where they STILL ensure there is lots of green around.
