This is a reversed version of my original video, which can be found here: • Cascade Tunnel & Sceni... . There is no audio, so please play your favorite music in the background.
This video was recorded from the end of the train and was reversed to simulate the view from the cab. This explains why the train appears to pass red signals and some precipitation appears to be moving upward. My original video (with sound) can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wQyiCkzCEZo.html
I was about to say, man... I was like, "Ummm...dude...you wanna stop or somethin'? That's a clear SPAD." Hahaha! Makes total sense now, especially the up-flowing mini waterfall.
The mountains in the background are absolutely stunning. A characteristic trademark of the Pacific Northwest. I've always wanted to travel to this beautiful region someday.
Great video. We rode this route in 2013, and it brought back memories and filled in some views we missed. I caught on to the nature of the video when I saw the red signals being ignored and the water falling upward into a drain pipe!
I should have read your intro because I work for a class one out west and I thought to myself hope this crew has job insurance with all the red signals their passing their gonna need it! Lol great video regardless of all the rules violations lol
Lol! The first red he blew told me he was in the rear on the Builder. The stack train in the hole was also headed in the wrong direction, as well as no headlight in the tunnel. I don't know what track speed is through the hole, but the #7 I was on went through it lickety split.
Many years ago - when it was still allowable - I spent a short while in the cockpit of a trans Atlantic flight. The pilot though himself blessed with the view from his ' office ' window, and the drivers of these trains in this area are in much the same position, aren't they ?
Video was photographed from the last car of Amtrak and then when posted to RU-vid he ran the film backwards that's why there's no headlight going through the tunnel and the raindrops are going up instead of down I've seen this before on other videos that I have watched
Too funny 😅😅 I was wondering why the train was entering a block with double red signals until I saw the waterfall running uphill backwards, then I realised the video is playing in reverse hahaha 😆 😂 🤣 fooled me!
it even looks though the rain drops are falling the correct direction until you look really close lol. I was hoping you had the reversed version. i dont mind that that there is not sound. i still the the feeling of being in the cab thanks.
@Jonathan Bush I had watched the video without looking at the comments. I said did he just go through a stop signal. Then I saw the waterfall going upwards. Had to rewind a few times then said oh it's in reverse lol. Nice view
I was able to get past your running this in reverse unlike so many here that weren't able to. I loved the scenery and gave really new insight on this area. I was expecting an elk or moose to walk out at any time. Are you planning any more for this area? I would love to see much more of both sides of this video.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. The next Amtrak routes that I plan to do are the Sunset Limited and California Zephyr, but I hope to go through this area again in the future. I'd like to get some of the Spokane to Portland section as well, so I may do a loop PDX->SEA->SPK->PDX.
Are the announcements from the dining car in reverse as well? It would surely sound like Swedish! Ha! Ha! Really though Jonathan I really enjoyed the video! I have taken this trip on many occasions and it is an amazing experience for sure. Thank you for sharing this video with us. Cheers, Steve :)
I often wonder if the crews on these trains come across anything wandering in the tunnels with nowhere to go, stupid hikers, deer, bears,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bigfoot.
People always ask why doesn't BNSF add a second track or enlarge the adjacent Pioneer Tunnel to elevate the bottle neck over Stevens Pass well watch this and you see the cuts and narrow areas as to why its not economically feasible to do so, let alone adding the needed side-outs as well! Living in here Western WA I know we are at the mercy of the terrain here in many many ways as it is!
Exellent idea of filming...I visite your country during I am in my bed..thank..bernard FRANCE......It seem ..there is..no pollution..in the river out side....could you say if there are always fish inside..?
I tried to walk thru this tunnel, long ago, figured i'd hear the train and run to the coves every 1/2 mile. Train rolled down on me, i lay in the ditch and hoped nuthin was hanging-out, because the tunnel is not bigger than it needs to be-
imagine walking in that tunnel then a train comes along, you only have maybe two feet at best between the wall and the moving train, that would be all kind of fun!
