Just a quick video showing the way I weld regular hooks to the various loader tractors to minimize the stress to the buckets due to the sometimes offset and heavy loads. #Case580B, #liftinghooks, #outdoors
Hi Wendell! Glad you got the hydraulics fixed on the boom. Thanks for the walk-through of your bucket mods too. You don’t do anything half-assed and I admire that! Looking forward to seeing the Case in action.
Well Martin, we lift so many heavy items from tractors to logs and its really a good idea to make the lifting eyes as substantial as you can. Now as I understand OSHA no longer allows hooks such as these on commercial jobsites. They have to be factory fabbed specialty hooks and factory welded. They never covered it specifically in my OHSA 30 hour class or the refresher 10 hour class, but the aforementioned statement has been quoted to me by others on commercial sites. Btw....stay tuned for yet another failure !! LOL. Whew, old stuff can be a pain sometimes....
Thanks Tom. But you'll never guess what....the second swivel fitting that never leaked a drop started a slow drip within a half hour of digging. THEN, I had a real failure. LOL
Thanks Mike for such a nice comment my friend. The project took another unsuspecting turn a couple hour into it, but no big deal. Just a delay that a few bucks will cure. But that's just the way it is with old equipment sometimes. Have a wonderful week and don't work too awfully hard. It's toasty out there !!
I was always partial to the Case hoes too. The first one I got to run was the summer I turned 14 and got to run an old (new then) 530 Case. I was immediately impressed at the difference from the farm tractors I was use to and it just stuck with me. Thanks Bobby for the visit today my friend.
Great explanation Wendell, that is really a workhorse that is worth keeping in a working order, ask next to nothing but just keep on working after all the years
Man yeah Mr Wendell!! Got fixed up and ready to roll!! Again I love your great explanation of the swivel fittings!! That was awesome, even down to keeping the old snap ring!! Very good advice on the bucket hooks and esp using a slip hook for your straps!! Now that ball set up, that is epic!! I love it!! You are a genius my friend!! I can't wait to see the ole girl out digging some stumps!! Thank you sir for bringing us along!! 😁😁👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yes, that 2 5/16 ball comes in super handy with all three goosenecks. The funny thing I didn't know with the little o-ring repair, as soon as I went to start digging, the swivel fitting on the second boom cylinder started a slow and steady drip. It'd never dripped a drop before....Go figure huh. LOL BUTTTT....that's wasn't the biggest disappointment of the day... more to come my friend.
That old tractor was bought new in '73 by cousin Harold. His doctor made him quit running equipment when he was in his 60's. So his 350 JD crawler, dump truck and this tractor sat for years in front of his house. Eventually he sold the truck, trailer and crawler but kept this another 10 or 12 years until I got the chance to buy it. So I am only the second owner.
All of your videos are worthwhile tm44. Haven't seen one yet that I would have any disagreements with. My wifes stepdad was a Pipeline Welder, and like you he had some of the most brilliant ideas. Had many multi functional tools and equipment. Thanks tm44.
I tell ya Dean, a fella does pick up a lot of ideas on construction sites. Either out of necessity or just observance. Any pipeline welder has my respect...especially the old, old timers. They had it pretty rough compared to the modern fitters of today, mainly because of the improved tools available now. The conditions however, pretty much remain the same. Thank you for a cool comment my friend.
@@tractorman4461 your exactly right tm44. Her step daddy past away a out 25 years ago. Even though he never had much education he definitely could fabricate just about anything. One of his favorite sayings was "bring it to me, I can fix anything but a broken heart"
It ain't just too awful bad of a rig Gator, but as with anything of age ya gotta expect the occasional breakdown. Its 49 years old now, and I am only the second owner.
A fine video this night to drip, tip and sip in the morning aimed in that 44 direction! So be ready for the morning JO Magic my Pal in the west! DaveyJO
Hahahahaha.....Imma enjoying my own bit of blackbrew mysef DaveyJO !! LOL I know you told me before but I just can't remember exactly how close your holler is from Hershey Pa. Would you kindly enlighten a feeble mind once again....?
Ive been around a lot of case backhoes that where used hard. The swing bushings tended to get worn and loose. and the bottom boom bushings the same. Ive seen a lot of case backhoes that had the bottom two bushing fixed by inserting a steel rod thru the entire assembly. We also weld hooks to every bucket.
Daily greasing for the loader and twice a day for the hoe under heavy use is the best thing for these machines. I don't work it too hard, but my son gives it the devil every minute he's on it I think. LOL But he's used to using brand new machines, usually Cat, so he's spoiled.
Oh, they blow here and there, but I DO end the next video in failure....not a hose though. Thanks Jeff for watching and yes, the old hoe is worth every maintenance dollar I spend and much more.
Dang !! I’ve never seen one bent. But I bet is going to have to be replaced, because that is a O-ring and nitrile washer seal. If that stub is not perfectly straight, I’m thinking it’s probably going to leak or at least destroy the washers and O-rings pretty quickly. That’s just my thoughts though.
