A local contractor purchased a John Deere 7250R with the e23 powershift specifically for scraper work: their previous TG255 pulled as hard as a Fendt 930 on the wheels because a CVT needs the hydrostatic (inefficient) part of the transmission to spin fast to achieve slow driving speed, and the self thinking of the transmission reduces the gear ratio when the engine lugs, so before you know it, it will dig in and loose all traction. With a powershift you can hear the engjne work, and thereby control the pull by hearing, thus work on the traction limit. With a quadtrack you dont dig down as fast as with a wheeled tractor, but still the powershift is more efficient at low speeds.
Why do you need to move between the hydraulic levers and the multifunction handle? The multifunction handle allows for hydraulic control on remote #1 which eliminates the need to go between the multifunction handle and hydraulic levers so frequently . I think CVX/CVT is awsome but you are doing a disservice to the multifunction handle in your sell of CVX.
If you’re downshifting while you’re loading you ain’t doing it right. CaseIH and Deere both should take a minute to go talk to the guys that actually move dirt for a living in the ag land levelling business.
Sorry, must have missed you at the last CaseIH demo event. If you reference back to 6th Grade Physics on speed vs. torque, this procedure will make a lot more sense. Thanks for your input though.
@@AshlandIndustries if you’d dump the anemic Iveco then there would be no need to downshift. We never had a problem making torque with QSX 15’s. All the guys buying the new tractors including 620’s install Steinbauers or something similar to add torque. This is what happens when an ag tractor manufacturer try’s to adapt it to a scraper application. We want low rpm torque. If what I’m saying wasn’t true then the guys that are throwing the Ivecos away after warranty has expired and replacing them with QSX 15’s must be just hard headed and stubbornly clinging to the past.
