Case magnetos are good. But when they go bad, things get interesting due to poor parts available. The jma case magneto like the S& D series case tractors had are really fun, especially if you don't have the special tool to pull the coil out with.
Debbie and I made a video of a Mag conversion. It took me about 20 minutes to rig up a coil on a junk fairbanks morse Mag and getting it to create hot spark. Hope this video can help you all.
you can add a regular coil and convert a mag to a dist. You unhook the mags coil and hook the negative _ side of the coil to the points and condenser. Then hook the positive side of the coil to the battery. you will get plenty of spark then. you then need to tap into the mags cap to attach the lead from the coil. However when you do this conversion you will need to put a resistor inline with the hot wire. I also use a Ford type selenoid that has the extra terminal that you can attach to the positive side of the coil to deliver a full 12 volts when cranking.
@@CrazyDEquipment I have over many decades converted many mag's into a dist. Right now the mag on our D4 cat dozer pony engine has a coil and is now a battery powered coil dist. Debbie and I will try to make a video and post it very soon.
I think the points or the condenser is gone or the magneto is weak and needs 2 be rebuilt on case LA tractors I VE seen the lever on the magneto is suppose 2 be in the middle 😊😊 OMG 8 1O 2O23

Yeah on the side of the transmission pull the inspection plates there's a pin that you pull then I believe you spin it counterclockwise to adjust it out clockwise to adjust it in if I remember right it's been a long time since I've done it
