My favorite blade shape is a Spey blade or what you were calling a skinner blade but they are very hard to find on single blade knives in my experience. Case made a model in red bone back in the 70s I believe and it is my holy grail knife I'm always looking for, or at least something similar. Great informative content! I subscribed.

ive got a yellow handle case trapper in cv. it has gaps between springs, and a burr on the right side of both blades, did I get a lemon or is this normal? it was only $35. I have an old case peanut and its perfect.

Sorry to read you've had a problem with a Case product. This is not the norm. I'm not in anyway affiliated or connected with Case, so I can't make a policy statement for them. I can recommend that you contact them at caseknives.com. At the bottom of their home page there is a link for Warranty and Repair. Click on that link and follow the prompts. Hope this helps. Please subscribe for future updates.

thanks for the response but im ok with the knife it works fine i guess it just slipped through QC. i bought it as a work knife anyway. just was curious if it happens a lot but i guess not. thanks

No, it did not slip through QC. Case has changed their Quality Control Standards to allow such knives to ship to customers. Really a shame as they cost so much. Probably why I stay with Buck , Schrade/Uncle Henry and Bear and Sons knives.

@@richardweilandt3315 I agree. Case quality control seems to be a big topic the last few years. I hesitate to buy them online because of this. Gaps on the back spring seems like standard issue these days. There is a Case Master Dealer near me but his inventory is hit or miss as well. More often than not I leave without buying anything. Thanks for posting this for people who may not be aware of the Case QC problem. I'm a Case collector but I refuse to make excuses or lie for them. It's a mystery why the powers that be let this happen to such a great brand.

We appreciate your taking time to watch our video. Case for years had space on their website devoted to dating their product. But sadly as of this transmission, this is no longer the case. (Did I really say that ?) I checked www,caseknives.com again just before I posted this reply. I had previously phoned AND e-mailed them on the topic but, public / customer relations doesn't understand the "new" web-site fails to address the topic of dating the products. More of us should contact them ask them to put the previous page back up. Mean while back at the ranch, I would suggest checking with the web pages of the various Case collectors clubs, etc for any information they may have. Sorry for the moment I can't be of more help. Please subscribe for future up dates and postings

I know this is kinda late but Shepherd Hills cutlery is a great resource for dating Case knives.

I've never had a problem using a Spey blade on Beef cattle. Granted they were calves and not full grown Bulls. I have single blade Trapper locks with clip point blades, really wish they would make a Trapper lock with just a Spey blade.

I completely agree with you. I never had a problem castrating a young bull with an old timer 34OT. The 34OT is a smaller stockman design. My dad always castrated when the moon sign was right when the bull was right around 3 weeks to a month old. As we got a little more experienced however, we found that one of those skinny snap off razor knives worked better and were extremely sharp.
